    A very well-detailed review! You did great work reviewing this power bank. I have a question. I bought the power bank with a lighting-fast charge of 27W for my iPhone 12 Pro Max. When I connect my phone to my Anker charger, it only shows 6.5W output. Why's that? And when I connect it to my Macbook Air, it’s only 30W output, not 60W. Should I get an exchange? I’ll greatly appreciate the help.

    I don't think it'll get a 16-inch to 100%. It for my 14-inch M3 Pro to 97%, but that's also with a light workload (web browsing and note taking). If you're editing video while charging on the Prime battery it won't charge it to full since the MacBook is using more power.

    I have had both the old version and new of this power bank they don't output 140w from one port. Maximum 100w if that. Bit disappointing for the price. Does not adequately power a 130w device, eg what I use it for which is a Levnovo X1 Extreme. I would make sure you get it from a retailer where you are able to return it if it can't charge your device

    Well, not reaaaaaaly a wireless charging base, it has conductive pins to charge the battery from the base, much like cordless phones fro 20 years ago. It's not using Qi charging, so not "wireless charging" in the common definition. These are also only good for 300 charge cycles, then Anker says you should dispose of the battery bank. That seems quite low, given many modern competitors.

  • @beardfm

    @beardfm

    I mean, even Qi is not reaaaaaaly wireless either. Magnetic coils are just hidden inside 😏

  • @fullsleevetats

    @@beardfmThe transfer of electrons using Qi or other inductive charging, happens without contact, just like a modern electric toothbrush or shaver that charges inductively. You can separate the two with an air gap and it will still charge. The Anker requires a physical, electrical connection to charge. It's just a charging cradle, but not a wireless charging cradle. It's an important distinction because you can't take the Anker battery bank and plonk it on top of a real wireless charger and make it work. But your point is valid, even wireless chargers require a wire to the wall (unless it's a battery bank with Qi charging, like an OmniCharge).

    Where did you get that information? I keep seeing this claim on other videos and KZread comments with no hard evidence (yet). I’d love to know what this 300 cycle metric means. Does it mean down to 80%, 70% or 60% remaining capacity? Does it mean a software lock of the battery? It is super vague to say a battery only gets 300 cycles when you don’t know what that definition is. A battery is still useful after a manufacturer’s tested cycle range, i.e., a lithium ion battery will still work at 40% remaining capacity even though the manufacturer states that 80% remains after 200 cycles. What’s more is high quality li-ion batteries will slow down in rate of degradation the more degradation there is. According to the spec sheet for the old 140W power bank cells, it can retain at least 60% capacity after 300 cycles of fast charging and discharging. Assuming you use 6 cells the way Anker implemented in the battery, I estimate the fast charge to be equivalent to about 150W and discharge to be about a whopping 700-800W (only estimated because I’m lazy). Again assuming the cells are packed in Anker’s battery, the spec sheet shows test results of at least 80% capacity remaining when charging at about 20W and discharging at about 100W. This is 100% achievable in the real world if you do a slow charge and occasionally charge a laptop. I don’t think most people owning this battery would exclusively charge a laptop every single time. Since the spec sheet states these cycles from a true full to empty and vice versa, you could probably push 500 cycles realistically if you keep the battery between 10-90% state of charge. My phone still has about 85% capacity after over 600 cycles just by keeping it between 15-85%. There isn’t a tear down of the 250w battery yet, but it makes sense that the cycle specs for the 250W cells would outperform the 140W cells. If you are worried about 300 cycles of almost 100Wh, you must be some kind of power user because I can’t discharge my

    @@beardfmthank you for replying, but if you cannot trust their actual security department how should we trust a power component that has an app that needs me to give access to my device. I don’t think you can separate their products. If in one area a company cheats their customers how do you know that they won’t or are not currently in other areas. Their consumer morals were put to the test and they failed. You might not think Anker is doing anything wrong but you just promoted a product that has an app that I can then give them access to my device. I still do not agree with you promoting a product where the parent company has been shown to have questionable morals on security and personal data/video.
