I went back to the Scud Factory with my dad and college fishing buddy for some post ice off action. The ice had only been off for a couple weeks and the bite was on. We landed around 80 fish and missed many more. Our indicators were going down constantly. We were fishing with an assortment of my balanced flies and caught fish with everything we tried.

I love that Dad has the balance to wade those edges at 83 years old. I also love that you get him out with you. Well done bro.

Sorry for the late reply. Somehow, I missed seeing it. I love getting out with my dad. I have to take advantage of the time that he still has the energy to go. He loves watching the indicator go under 👍

I was on my way there on the 13th and had car issues. Nice to see it didn't kill. It's been several years for me.

That lake always has the most colorful fish. Can’t believe how much moss there is this early in the season

Fortunately, it didn't completely kill off. There are still a few big tigers swimming around

The oversized Tigers are still there but they are not as active as the cutthroats early in the season according to the DWR officer I talked to. The winterkill here wasn't as bad as originally thought but the big Tigers are not going to appear until the water warms, the scuds start moving, and the weather abates into a more temperate pattern. Tigers don't grow like they do without being smart and largely nocturnal.

A few people have pulled out the nicer fish since the ice came off. It eventually come back unless it winterkills again.
A fish arose and hit the surface while landing tbe tiger trout at 03:29 pretty cool

It's such a shame that little lake had a winter kill. There use to be some amazing Tigers there. About 3 more years and those Tigers will start getting to the mid 20s again.

It didn't completely kill off. I saw a pic of one in the high 20's from a couple weeks ago. It's definitely a place that could use an aerator.
Thankfully no FrankenFreak-a-Zoid Tiger this time.
