I def agree with your point about style constantly changing. I recently turned 40 and although I still see myself as 20, I know that some things just aren’t age appropriate anymore. THAT, and I want to look more sophisticated 😊 Thanks for sharing 👍🏼

Yess finding your style is so important!! Sometimes I'll be looking at other people and be like " I wanna be that" "and that" "and that" and they're all like polar opposite styles lol. I always remember Sandy from Grease, like some days I wanna be her girly self, and some days you just wanna be leather jacket-red lips Sandy looool!

I don't know if I'm one of the few that feels comfortable with the clothes I pick, yet I know my husband would prefer me in tighter, shorter, sexier stuff.. I'm nearing 40, so I have gotten further away from the figure hugging stuff.. I workout, but still have lumps and bumps, that and the fact my bits have decided to begin the journey to greet my feet! I think my husband sees certain clothes on young women and expects it to work on me.. So in way, I dress for myself, but then I kind of feel uncomfortable around my husband(!) how sad is that! I love your channel, you're classy, you don't do hauls every five minutes, you're not pretentious or narcissistic, you're knowledgeable and down to earth.. and I think you're beautiful! X

Advice, get a really slutty dress, yknow the one, with leopard print, ties on the sides, a bodice that fits your breasts weird and not a finger lower than your butt, try it on for him. Make sure to pose, to style it like as if you were going out. Ask him if you look good, if you look comfortable. Then, take it off and try on your favorite going out outfit, elegant, timeless, beautiful. Ask him the same. If he doesn't see the difference, then boy, he needs to get over his twenties.

What to shop for Get to know yourself: what you like, making a list - flats instead of highheels, narrow down what you really like and what you are not comfortable in 1. Neutral color: one year around 2. Great Basics: never go out of stlye. T-shirt, pants, 3. Very classic patterns: stripes, leopard print 4. Accessory: good for basic clothings What to avoid 1. Already similar style in your wardlobe Exception: some clothes that you wear every single day 2. highly trended style 3. Anything Cheap: thin, quality changes after washing 4. ‘Instead’ of list Ask yourself everytime you are shopping List out your outfit

I really love your point "As we grow and change as people, our style grows and changes with us." Growing up chubby I always covered myself up in loose clothes with loud prints bc I hoped people would be so distracted by my outfit they wouldn't notice my chub bod🤦🏻‍♀️😂 then as I lost weight I started wearing shorter, tighter clothes bc I thought "if you got it, flaunt it" meant I was finally confident. But now, I know what my figure is like, I like it, and I no longer feel the need to showcase it all the time. Loose, flowy clothes have this carefree element that matches my personality, and they're always more comfortable in the tropical heat anyway 😉

Great advice. Sensible! Esp. like the list with the I-don’t & instead. For those in the process of finding and establshing your personal style I highly recommend sticking to that list. For thise of us (like myself) how have an establieshed personal style, I find it refreshing and helpfull to reevaluate our list. Live evolves, we ourselves evolve, so stay open and adjust your style if “needed” or wanted.

Good advice! I would add that you can do bold prints but not trendy prints. If you are wearing a neutral on the bottom like black pants and black shoes you can add an orange top with black flowers on it for example. Of course you also can flip it and wear neutral on top and bold print on bottom. That is my way of building my outfit because I could never stand having a all neutral wardrobe.

I’ve been keeping track of items I’m missing when I put an outfit together. The other day I realized I really would benefit from a basic light gray belt. So I put it on my list of things to buy. I try and buy things from my list before I buy something new. If I have things I can’t finish off without that missing item, I don’t want to add in more things and not wear what I already have. I then went on The Real Real and found the perfect gray designer belt for $60 that is exactly what I wanted. Gray belts are definitely not as easy to find as other colors.

I find that I do better shopping on my own. Shopping buddies often discourage me from buying things that I love and need, and pressure me into buying things that I don’t! I often don’t get around to returning the unwanted items! so they end up in donation bins - what a waste!

I do find having multiple of the same basics necessary. I absolutely love black clothing and have 3 black turtle necks (with variety in fabric) for fall/winter and 3 black shirts (with variety in shape) for spring/summer. These go in and out of the laundry like crazy so I just need to have more than one haha! My biggest issue is stopping buying wardrobe staples. I always feel like "oh but this is also a staple I'm missing" which doesn't make my wallet too happy xD

As for me, I've created a board on Pinterest with outfits that I like. Every other month I open this board and check why exactly I pinned a certain outfit. Usually, there is one particular item that I like, and it appears on several pins. So I make a list of items from this board and go shopping. This way, I never feel lost on the store. And yes, I'm not interested on one-day trends at all.

It is funny because thin fabrics can be indicative of either very cheap fabrics or very expensive fabrics. Expensive clothes are often made from silk or tropical wools. Their thread counts are high and the fabric is very strong and durable. These clothes are great for traveling because they are lightweight, so affluent people like them. So, you have to use other criteria to judge clothes by.

One thing I've noticed with capsule wardrobes and/or minimalist fashion is that nearly every person has black in their wardrobe. And while I do have a couple black tops in my closet, I mainly I use them as an under layer for if it's cold outside or if I'm wearing something that's sheer on top of it. Otherwise, black just isn't my color when it comes to basics lol

I absolutely agree! I’m 60 and I’ve never owned a pair of high heels. I have wide toes and high-heeled shoes (nearly always with pointed toes) are often half the width, or less, of my feet - NO WAY! I did have to wear pumps for work, so I wore 2-inch block heels, I only wish more styles like that were and are available, it was all I could do to find one black and one navy pair at a time. I think it looks silly, anyway, for women to be teetering around on those ridiculous shoes on city pavements. Anyone who knows French style know that French women never wear them, so why do we? I hoping that the tecent trend toward more comfortable clothes will extend to shoes, also.

In the 20 years I spent on active duty in the US Navy I ran into that "influence" thing every time I changed duty stations. It always seemed as though there was a different "fashion vibe" for every new location, if that makes sense. One style for the Gulf coast, another for the California Coast, the mid-West, the mid-Atlantic and so on. Every time I moved all my "civies" seemed wrong and I could never nail a style that seemed to be "ME"! Also, back then, this is the 70's--80's. There was a lot less leeway in available fashion. It was hip-hugger wide leg or NOTHING for example. Things are so much easier now that there is more choice in one way. In another nailing one's own style is many times more challenging if one means to avoid a closet hodge podge.

I don't like the snake skin, lepard and bright neon color look. I do think that it's ok to have multiple black shoes just different. It's just me
