I am surprised that you did not mention his Villa Tugendhat in Bohemia (1930, Brno). It is one of the few family houses that is included in the UNESCO list. It is wonderful!

I want to make this concept by in wood and glass...

(At 04:25) That sculpture in the left of the frame looks like a kinetic work by George Rickey, probably one of the "Parallel Lines" pieces. Anybody know anything about what happened to it ('cause it's not there now)? A date for this image would be a good start. Regards, Kev

It was auctioned off at Sotheby's by one of the last owners, shortly before it was bought by the State of Illinois to make it a national monument.

My guess would be that this was one of the sculptures Peter Palumbo, the second owner of the house had installed all across the property after he took possession of the house in 1970. After the auction of the home, he relocated many (if not all - I'm not 100% sure) of those sculptures to his property Kentuck Knob in Pennslyvania. So I'd think it would be there. This photo was almost certainly taken after he took possession of the home since Dr. Farnsworth would not have had that sculpture (it was not to her taste) and the furniture in the home doesn't appear to be hers.

​@@felixguerrero6062 The house was not bought by the State of Illinois. The auction was won by the National Trust for Historic Preservation who still manages the property to this day.

@@felixguerrero6062 It can definately be confusing since before the auction occurred there were a few attempts by various organizations (the state, county, etc.) to acquire the house. Dr. Farnsworth even once offered to leave it to the local government in her will before she sold the house to Palumbo.

The funny thing was that Mies van de Rohe never liked living in the buildings he designed.

@@Username-le4eq What I meant was, his own modernist architecture had no personal connection to him. It was more of an intellectual exercise rather than a philosophy of life to live by. In that sense, I feel that Rhoe's architecture, like most modern Architects had no character. To Rhoe, a rustic farmhouse in the country had more character and warmth of charm than the lifeless steel, glass and concrete boxes he designed.

@@dopdoit - and your response is derived from your personal taste. It isn’t true at all. ( not your taste, but your view of modern architecture ) I could live happily ever after in modern architecture…but that’s me. There’s no agenda, just a matter of taste.

Yeah but aside from just looking cool, it's lost on everyone that it's a failure as a house by all measures. It's tough to heat, had no A C., constant structural problems, and I think it'd be rather difficult to live out of for two days even. It's good for cocktail parties. That's all. You can't call it a "house" unless, by some stretch, it could actually be lived in.

The aspect ratio of the image is wrong, so the proportions are blatantly wrong.

Mies didn’t Design all the houses in the Weißenhofsiedlung… he merely got others to plan according to some simple rules… honestly this was the start and I couldn’t watch it further…

Ill-adapted for Midwestern climate. Successful architecture takes environment (and culture) into account in its design. This represents the fundamental failure of Modern architecture no matter how technical and "pure" it is.
