Villa Tugendhat

As a wedding gift, the parents of Greta and Fritz Tugendhat present the young couple with a piece of land, located near Brno, in what is now the Czech Republic. The couple commissioned the architect Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe, who, at the time, was finalizing details for the German Pavilion at the Barcelona Exposition, to carry out the project. With an unlimited budget from the client, this housing project represents the opportunity for the German architect to put his architectural and design ideas into practice.
The Villa Tugendhat, built between 1929 and 1930, will provide a combination of the use of the open plan with more restricted spaces, within a domestic use.

I should have been clearer in my assessment, you are correct this beats Farnsworth house in scope, size and quantitative space. However, "Farnsworth House" I feel has always been misclassified, as a "house"... It never was a house so much as a weekend cottage.

Approaching modernist architecture from any aspect other than socialism is so misguided as to be repulsive, but Mies did the same thing for modernism that Ralph Lauren did for Brooks Brothers; he made it special. Really can’t deny it- it’s truly an exquisite statement.
visually sumptuous .... but genuinely, I would prefer to hear a Mexican commentator ... You may worry that you would stumble over some pronunciation, but believe you me, the robot makes Lots of errors, she couldn't say Tugendhat at all - trust me, you'd make a MUCH better job x

Interesting story, the current resident of this house is a MAGA Republican who drives a MASSIVE pickup truck with truck-nuts

🤦♀ Villa Tugendhat is in the Czech Republic (in the city of Brno), it is the property of the state and there is a museum in it!
