    As stated in the video, the females release an incredible amount of eggs. This is a high fecundity species. They have no problem repopulating in the wild.

    i had an idea like the video, but I was wondering if regular people can grow fish but not farm them but release them after certain size. For example mutton snapper if I were to farm them until they reach 12" then release them to the ocean that way there more in abundance just a thought.

    Guys, releasing farm raised Mahi Mahi into the wild will not increase the population of wild Mahi Mahi. However reducing commercial fishing pressure on Mahi Mahi, due to Mahi Mahi fish farms, will increase both the population and average size of Mahi Mahi in the wild.

    Captain mike have you ever boated a blue marlin? Do you target them at all? Why is the blue marlin fishing so poor around the Miami area when it’s so good here off the SC coast where I live.

  • @FloridaSportFishing

    Yes, I've caught many, but only one locally off South Florida about 350 in 650 ft. Conditions are different, bottom terrain is different, more tuna up there (primary forage). - Capt Mike

    Florida Sport Fishing Lol you don’t marlin fish much do you. the term ‘boated’ or ‘landed’ in the blue marlin world means to kill and bring the fish aboard. Almost every marlin tournament has a ‘landed’ category. The 5 tournaments in SC the minimum size limit is 105 inches to kill in a tournament. And it usually pays well over $100,000 if you are the only team to boat a fish. Other than that yes always release

    The answer for what

  • @davefishing8087
    @davefishing80876 жыл бұрын

    we should cross breed mahi with red snapper or cobia or other species and pass that gene that allow them to grow fast.

  • @blakew.5736

    @blakew.5736

    6 жыл бұрын

    David Fray Cross breeding is almost definitely impossible considering how different these species are. The amount of time since mahi shared a common ancestor with snappers or cobia is probably tens of millions of years, so genetically they’d be very unlikely to be able to interbreed. They could possibly isolate the gene for fast growth found in mahi and insert that but there would need to be a lot of testing to see how that affects the development of snappers and cobia. I hope that someone’s working on that though!

However , this video is almost cringe worthy due to the actions and awkwardness of your gestures. 👍🏻 other than that. It was definitely interesting and I learned a few things.

    Any health benefits from fish could easily be found in a plant based diet. Fish is high in cholesterol, fish are sentient beings who feel pain, and the fishing industry kills one dolphin every minute. End this demand now, boycot animal exploitation!
