FAR GONE VALLEY - An Alpine Hunting Film
Three hunters and one filmmaker travel deep into the heart of the Canadian wilderness in pursuit of mountain goats. Five days, sixteen kilometres covered, and no shortage of hard work. This journey went beyond an average hunting trip. It became a gruelling journey and an attempt to enter into another species world in order to learn more about them. There is something mystical about the mountain goat. Being able to watch them high up on the cliffs above, traversing sheer drop offs and interacting one another. It would take an understanding of such an amazing animal to effectively stalk and kill one.

Thanks so much!! Appreciate the kind words!
Following in the footsteps of our forefathers. The rawest of human emotions when you take a life. First the the jubilation, then remorse at taking a life. The culmination of all the planning, the sleepless nights, the hardest of roads travelled. Looking at that animal and marvelling about what a tough place to exist. That is hunting !!!

Awesome cinematography, love the close up shots. Solid story telling showing the whole struggle for the end goal. Would’ve been cool to see some close up shots of that beautiful goat, plus the break down of packing it out. Sweet sweet film, makes me want to join you guys. Look forward to more of these 👍

They probably didn't want to show it becaise it appears to be a fairly young nanny
Watched the whole thing! Absolutely captivating and as a beginner it inspired me so much. Keep it up for our sakes!
Great film, fantastic editing and production especially for one dude. Respect!
Great film, goat hunting is physically hard work challenging you up into their precarious world in the cliffs.. they are usually not hard to spot so take your time, identify a billy and insure good populations for future hunters.
Great job guy's and very, very nicely done indeed.

Probably the best film quality Ive seen from a hunting video! Hunters need to get more time in the wilderness hunting to up their experience a bit..LOL! But this could grow really big if done consistently - WELL DONE!!!

Great videography 👏 Too bad you couldn’t get anything. It’s not always about harvesting , looked like a blast
Great video!! What is the camera setup if you don’t mind me asking?
Killer video! What camera did you use?
this "the masculine urge".
awesome trip I'm super jealous, lol just think you should make sure you can retrieve the first harvest before you start taking more shots
yah boys
Ahhh yes, familiar sights. Not sure what is worse, the twisted mess of alders between 3000-5000’ or the deadfall in the bush below. Congrats on the goat. Can you tell roughly where in BC this was?
Nice fukin work lads 💪🏼

Its up a deactivated rd.I won't say where it is,I have logged in the valley, huge snowfall and lots of goats.Alder, devils club and steep.Only reason the goats moved down was snow....even then it is nasty.
You shot a Nanny. Is that why you didn't show the goat?
What do you use to edit your videos?

Cinematics are good. However, the problem I find with this channel is the lack of what people came here to see, your videos arent about the hunt at all, in fact It's painfully obvious you care more about branding than you do hunting. You can have all the cenematics you want, but it's not going to grow the channel if that's the only thing people have to look forward to for a new video. Show the actual hunt, not just start and end result. People want to feel a connection to the people they are watching. They want to go through the trials and tribulations together. All youre doing is serving a pile of slop on a silver platter. You guys need direction, ill give it to you, but it aint gunna be easy, but it will be rewarding.

Thanks! That's a fair point. Lots of "cinematic" montages when I could have filmed a scene with more genuine interaction. Campfire scene is a good example of this. I did have the goal of capturing the struggle of the hunt which I think I did to a certain degree. What I will say is this is the first hunting film I ever created and I have constantly been developing and refining the style that I capture a hunt in since then. A more recent film I am proud of is Land of Legend on the First Lite KZread channel. Let me know what you think and thanks for the critique!
Great film. Not a hunting film though. No connection to a hunting audience. Too much of the story left untold. Example: are you satisfied or disappointed in taking a nanny etc. Unfortunately, the audience that would eat this thing up, is probably going to be hunting indifferent at best.

Thanks for the feedback! To be honest it makes sense. This was my first crack at making a hunting film 4 years ago and I approached it as a filmmaker with little big game hunting experience. Since then I've tried to hone my craft to be able to draw out the emotions, struggles and satisfaction that can be had on a trip like this. Would love your feedback on more of our recent films!
