Makes sense as to why the Cult was able to take control of Hope County. The world powers were on the brink of nuclear war, and the US was thrown into a civil crisis. The government had a lot more to worry about than an isolated county in Montana. Kinda similar to what happened in the Fallout games too

Not really realistic imo. Extremely vague story telling and some of it doesn't even make sense. If we were on the brink of nuclear war why would the government issue a warning to New York and LA but not Montana where we store hundreds of our own nuclear weapons which would 100% be targeted. Solely referring to the middle east as if it's one singular country. Not really much depth to what the radio host is saying at all.

The only thing that's not realistic is that they state that Russia has been attacked and Moscow has been blown up. If that was the case, don't you think there would be a Nuclear war happening right away?

When the Father has been arrested at the ending of the "Resist" option, you can hear the air raid warning sirens going off before the bomb hits.

The Patriot Acts mission also sheds some light. Russian involvement in the cult was discovered, but the CIA Agent had to leave in urgency due to "Larger fish to fry". Edens Gate's involvement with Russia would be considered a large fish (especially if the CIA was tasked as this would be a major no no on US Soil), so something MUCH more serious was going on outside.

This could be true but before debating on it we must be sure if the ending was real or hallucination. Also in these announcement it always talks about a tension between North Korea and USA not between Russia and USA. And It says Russia has been hit, but doesn't say the USA was responsible. Though, the cult having an involvement in Russia's plans is possible it is not known if the nuclear ending has anything to do with it.

North Korea wouldn't have enough nukes to hit that many targets in the US, let alone long-range missiles, to "waste" some shots in Montana. Those are obviously russian nukes. The situation in North Korea escalated to an US-Russia nuclear war. Can't say whether USA or NK nuked Moscow though.

Assuming real, and not hallucination, it's important to remember the days of SIOP. Considering how difficult decision making is in the early stages of a nuclear crisis, the most dangerous time is in these early moment, as land based ICBMs are in their "Use them or lose them" moments. It's not a long flight time, assuming the incoming are coming from land based launch points, so, 30 minutes, tops. If the attack is by sub, 5-6 minutes? So, all decision making is designed to happen quickly. The president has the ability to issue launch orders in around 4 minutes. It's very easy for something to go wrong, or to misread a threat. It's frankly more amazing than anything that, given a history of accidents and malfunctions through the cold war, that no such mistake occurred. Just ask Stanislav Petrov how close we came.

You know, I believe I wouldn't have been as frustrated with the ending if I had actually heard these broadcasts. I basically ran everywhere to enjoy the scenery and hunt, so I didn't hear any of these.

I LOVED the fact I didn't hear these. It was crazy finding out this religious nut was right. So for it to come out of nowhere like that? It made Joesph Seed seem all the more super naturally weird when I was convinced he was just some Hog.

Mad thinking that JOseph may have had the right idea all along: getting a survivalist group together unified under religion (and a healthy does of drugs). What's scary to me is how much correlation there is with the news in the game and current US-China tensions escalating to possible war in the Pacific.

Why did the game developers put this part of the stories plot in the in-game radio? Most of the time, I'm fast traveling or I have the radio off when I'm driving so i completely missed the tensions between the countries plot.

His overall message is correct. And all the regions teachings tie into 1. "Cull the herd" is when the world is hit with nukes and only the strong survive. Jacob was talking about How empires rise and fall and america was next. Everything they said was completely true. And I picked up on it right away, But if course no one listens till people complete the game. Anyway. Their words were correct. But their actions were a little crazy lol

We're not always right, sometimes we lose, sometimes we win. The radio talking about tenses, attacks and bombs is real, it's not a fucking bliss. People prefer to pretend that nothing wrong is going and such scenario is totallt extremely impossible, but, rise and shine, IT IS POSSIBLE (hope will never happen). We have so much nuclear bombs on Earth that we could destroy it like 20 times and no life would be able to exist there for hundreds, thousands of years. It is incredible to believe, but fuck, stay still in that believe that nothing would happen, don't care about the world and choose idiots as the leaders so you can see how possible this scenario IS. People forget how it was during the cold war, when in hottest moments was said that the collapse is coming. They know about it from history books, so now if someone try to tell: ,,hey, our politicians have great power, they can destroy whole planet, so maybe look out for who you are voting for and stop being enemies to each other, so that next generations of leaders could be more pacific?", people are laughing and saying: ,,bro, good weed, good halucinations, where can I buy it?".

The AoC Gamer It won't be a full game. It will be a stand-alone story kinda DLC like since they describe it as "standalone sequel". So instead of accepting nukes ending as cannon they are going for the possibility what would happen if it was real IMO. And I didn't see anything that supports bombs dropped back then other than they are saying so, in that trailer. The world is not post-apocalyptic in any way. there was some news going on on the radio during the john seed mission but it was cut off by all the gunfire. It was saying something about crop yields being 1/3 their estimates and the government recommending something... maybe there's more radio transmissions hidden that lead up to all of this. Think you could see anything about that?

It started right as I got into the drivers seat of the car with the turret after the scene in the church, where they have the pastor, Nick Rye, and the other girl (if you haven't noticed I'm not good with names) at gunpoint with the pastor guy being forced to repeat what John says and you have the choice to say yes. Immediately after entering the car the radio turned on with that news playing, but unfortunately, about half of what I heard was drowned out by the gunfire of all the people attacking you while you chase John, and it got cut off by I THINK me getting hit by another car. It's possible that there might be another way to get it to play, but I don't know it. Maybe It's because I took a helicopter straight to falls end? It might just play the first time you get in a car after John Seed tells you to come to Falls End over the radio because he has hostages... IDK, I hope you figure it out.

Yeah, for all I know, there might be things like that hidden before ALL the members of the seed families final missions. I mean, it WOULD be a pretty cool easter egg. Though that would depend on if this isn't just something that comes on randomly throughout the game or something

Yes, there are some more announcements before John's final mission including the one you said about crops. Though only one about nuclear war is the one saying North Korea makes tests. I will record and upload them too. 😉 I can't check if there are similar messages before other lieutenants because they grab you as soon as you get outside in their region before their final mission. And I tried to check radio in John's region before killing Jacob but didn't get anything special.

I hope no one actually still believes the ending is a hallucination. If it was explain to me how Far Cry New Dawn is even a thing.

The greatest part of this game for me was driving around, hearing these reports and knowing how the game was going to end-and then I ran up to one of the guitar playing NPC’s crooning out “Hard Times Come Again No More.” That song was the start of American “popular” music, and was written during the worst of the Civil War...... war never changes.....

just finished the game and was like WTF so i checked for some explanations about ending and boy o boy this looks like some kind of warning with current situation

I like how they threw "Montana is not expected to be effected, BUT YOU NEVER KNOW" and then a Nuke JUST SO HAPPENS to go off right at the moment you arrest Joseph. So unless you were sitting next to the radio tower, you would have never even heard this broadcast. Wouldn't it have been smarter and better if when you cleared the territories that the radio signals got through to the entire map, that way whenever you were on route to the chapel at the end this would have been fucking obvious? Hell, it could have been part of a cut scene, or played over the loud speakers in the bunkers. But I guess that would have been asking too much.

They are unlocked after clearing the regions, I like to think the last one canonically played when rook was driving to arrest Joseph seed. It happened to me on my first play through.

Reading these comments 3 years later after New Dawn and the actual setting of 6 is pretty interesting lol. They took the series in such an unexpected direction

+Game Boss. It could happen, but north korea wouldn't be the one to kick off the fireworks because their missile technology just isn't mature enough yet. If you ask me the first shot is likely to come from China. They actually have bombs bigger than a couple of kilotons, and the means to deliver them. Russia i can't see jumping in to the fray, they'd likely just sit back and watch the US and China obliterate eachother.

I played the game twice and not once did i hear such an announcement in the game. It's like if you don't listen to these reports you won't understand the ending. For me, I didn't understand why randomly a nuke exploded. I thought Joseph Seed had his hands on a nuclear weapon and set it off

+Holly. Hmm, there could only be two possibilities as for why those missiles are missing 1. The US govt removed them upon decommissioning the silos (although this doesn't explain how the computers are still running, although maybe the cult turned the computers back on) 2 Somehow the US govt forgot these silos existed and the cult found them, over an unknown period of time they dismantled the missiles and retrieved their warheads.

There's actually decommissioned silos all over the country and you can buy them. There's actually people put there who have turned them into homes, and there's a plan in Kansas to turn one into an apartment complex. They're nothing like seen in the game, the games silos are massive and make no sense, the complexes aren't like that. Real silo complexes are a lot smaller. So with Jacob being the "money handler lawyer" of the cult, they could have easily purchased decommissioned silos.

However, the Deputy could've been high on bliss since if you look at the flag in Dutch's bunker it changed and I'm pretty sure the father wouldn't take all that time to replace the flag, so that could've been a dream with the father really getting away.

Yes, you may be right. I am pretty much sure anymore it wasn't The Father. Because a siren goes off before the bomb hits. Which was mostly inaudible. So with the other things I believe it wasn't The Father. But as you said it also could be a hallucination because The Father just disappears from the truck suddenly in the end. I just realised that the voice actor is Kenny from The Walking Dead by Telltale

In the crashed plane in which you can also find the Sam Fisher outfit there is a screen on which you can see along the USA and Alaska and the information from Far Cry 6 after Kyrat red dots that are supposed to represent the atom explosions. We also know that the atomic bombs that exploded in Hope County came from Kyrat. But you don't see red dots on this screen in Europe, Russia or anywhere else. Does this mean that this recording was from the beginning of the nuclear war or that really only these parts were affected? That wouldn't fit with the radio info.

I watched a lot of interviews with the lead designer and writer. They kept saying how they want Far Cry to have a big world with real lore. So maybe far cry 5 was the start to it. . I just hope the post-apocalyptic setting let them do and try new things.

My idea to connect the "it was real therory" and the "hallucination" therory is that you did hallucinate but you only see the nukes because of what you heard on the radio and the hallucination with faith, also the nuked falls end background is a reminder of your bad dreams, but its just my therory(comment if you have something to add on to it)

I think maybe the whole thing can be a hallucination at all from reaching to the church. Because the Father kidnapping whole your friends drugging with Bliss and brainwashing them all by himself doesn't seem logical to me. Also if you pay attention the storm starts before he topples the Bliss barrels and no one seems surprised. And another thing that may be considered as a clue. We don't see the Father coming outside from the church in game. Cutscene starts when we get close. Maybe Rook didn't even see the Father maybe he wasn't even there and he started hallucinating because he is in the place where all traumatic events started not long ago. What do you think about this?

It should've ended with you killing the Father and saving your allies and then cut to a scene with you living happily and your allies rebuilding Hope County then nuke sirens go off and in the background a nuclear blast forms from multiple locations and your character finds a note planted in his pocket that says "you'll see how I am right soon enough" or something

Now I have a little question, if there truly are such crisis going on the during before/during the events of the game, that has the potential to go nuclear, would the US then spend time/resources to arrest one leader of a cult? out in Montana, and then there are what others have mentioned, the cult have the radiostation/s in the area under there control so who truly knows? in what we hear there.

Ofc no one knows for sure other than the story writers. But we can deduce from what we know. Even though the Father had nukes nobody knew it so US spending resources to end it, is unlikely also they sent someone to arrest him already. And as its is told in the beginning cutscene cops inside Montana are bought by the cult too so nobody is willing to do anything. And it wasn't the cult who bombed Montana. I believe there is enough evidence for it. It is right that radio station was owned by the cult. But I get these announcements after I liberated all regions. So the cult still controlling the radio stations isn't likely. I also blew up all bunkers after killing the leaders so if there were nukes there they would blow up right there too. Also there is a siren goes off in the background while the Father talks just before the bombs drop. And I don't think the Father would do that. So I am pretty much sure it wasn't the cult who bombed Montana. It is either a nuclear war or a hallucination. And I strongly believe whole thing was a hallucination. Because the Father poured two barrels of Bliss in the beginning and actually disappears from the truck in the ending cutscene. to the stuff i wrote about: would the US spend time/resources on arresting a cult leader out in Montana, if such a international crisis was simmering at the same time, I had thought to add: but apparently forgot. was: if the cult leader was not somehow involved with the international crisis. but anyway if there truly was such crisis going on, does that not kinda makes the story of the game seem i do not know meaningless, I mean i do not think any actions taken up there in Montana would either stoke or completely smutter the embers/flames of the international conflict. unless the Seeds intended something similar to what was tried in that movie called the Sum of all Fears I think it was called. by Tom Clancy. with Morgan Freeman

That is what makes fans disappointed actually. Whatever ending you choose if feels meaningless. Actually this is something the Father kept saying, which exactly he said in the ending as "Everything you've done... Everything you've earned... Everything you've fought for is for nothing." Maybe he was right on this one too. 😉😇

that maybe about him being right, but on the other hand, is that truly something the game makers should try to go for? making the players feel disappointed? I mean i would have nothing against something that described a ending where the survivers go on to face perhaps tough or even harsh "age of rebuilding" there lives, just that are a semblance of a light of hope at the end of that long tunnel(and not a incomming train).

Ofc that shouldn't be the case. But if you check latest AAA titles, endings of none is satisfying. IDK why this is happening maybe because of the huge hype that is created before and during the game and story can't quite make up to it. Writing a great story with a great ending and presenting it to the audience in the best way is something really hard to do. Probably things will get better when the devs keep the story above anything. I miss old graphic adventures where story means everything.

We don't know it for sure. Because Sheriff turns on the radio and Only You starts playing so supposedly Rook kills everyone in the car if they don't kill him. And bombs can still go off after this happen. Because you spend quite time fighting The Father if you resist before the bombs drop. So there is a big time window that the bombs can still drop after Rook walks away.

Like the game boss said, the "Resist" option takes a longer time to deal with unlike the "Walk away" option, plus there's a factor of losing track of time while you're high on bliss. It's entirely possible that the nukes detonate regardless of what happens.

Strange how this is also happening here in 2022 if you pay attention to what's happening out there

I remembering a news report that mentioned a sphere and an accident that resulted in deaths. A lot of it ended up cut off by NPCs talking. I didn't hear much of it and might have misheard. When I heard it, I thought it was an AC reference. However, given this game's ending, I don't see how the two series could be taking place in the same universe.

I didn't hear that broadcast but I mostly used chopper instead of a car so I had to listen for them specifically sitting in a car for hours to get the announcements. It is possible I missed some. Though AC series can take place in the same universe actually, the Abstergo part I mean. And the artifact they are using and being searched by Abstergo in the present day is called Apple of Eden. So that news or even the name of the cult can be some reference to AC or some kind of an easter egg. Maybe The Father was able to learn about future by using that artifact?! This can be another intriguing ending theory too. 😉 Thanks for mentioning this. 👍

My bad on the name, I've played the AC games, so I should have remembered. I only heard that broadcast once on a radio on a table outside of a vehicle. Sorry for the lack of info. I only heard it once and NPC conversations and other world noise drowned out much of it. I think I might (must?) have been imagining things. It seemed interesting at first because some do say Far Cry and Assassin's Creed take place in the same universe. However, the ending for this game would seem to make that impossible or highly unlikely depending on the direction Ubisoft is going to take AC.

Yeah I wonder the direction of AC afterwards Origins too. Though it is possible for them take place in the same universe, I think we should learn some things about the Nuclear war in AC Origins because there are messages sent from the future in game and they don't say anything about this. Maybe they were sent before this nuclear war. Or they survived the war or simply Far Cry 5's story is written after AC Origins. Probably there are more broadcasts like these but as you said it is usually cut by NPC talks and gunfires so it is hard to catch them all. But I'd like to see clues about each game in the other one. 👍😉

That Nuclear power plant in Tennessee is in Far cry new dawn

On the first play through I missed these broadcasts. But now with this, and the context that the cult had built fall out shelters makes the ending make MUCH more sense. On top of that, it adds to the message that your a mindless tool. Because instead of just following missions and blindly raiding outposts, you could have caught on that shit was going down. But instead of preparing for the worst, you were the catalyst that undid Peggies efforts for survival. You actively screwed over so many people. If you had just listened, you could have saved your friends, and possibly evacuated. But no, you saw the Seeds as nothing but a threat. You set your mind to do nothing but to take out your target, region by region. And in a way, your mindless violence almost made you as bad as the Peggies. Kind of messed up when you take a closer look

I remember really enjoying listening to the radio and taking long drives while playing. On my way to the church after killing Faith my time driving turned from relaxing to melancholic. I just thought the radio was just weird when in Faiths region the way songs are different for each lieutenant. I didn’t know it at the time but the drive over and the actual ending would fuck me up dude

I always thought Joseph launches the nuke

I believe these broadcasts are coming from Missoula. The game explains that Missoula is the closest relatively big city to Hope County.

I don't want to seem like I'm against them but what if The Great Collapse was cause by a chain of events from the previous Far Cry games? What if our characters we played as in the previous games made things worse and worse by their actions which they thought were for a greater good only lead to The Great Collapse getting closer and closer to being unleashed?

Marty Alencar hunted down a arms dealer then killed him only to become one himself that supported both sides of the conflict, Jason Brody hunted down a crazed maniac only to realize he has left a trail of bodies in his wake just like him, Ajay Ghale came to honor his mother's death only to get entangled into politics of a war and Rook as we already know destroyed a religion that was holding Earth together and was the last if not the only thing left to hold off The Great Collapse. So it's seen like this: *"The Arms were dealt."* *"The Insanities were unleashed."* *"The Politicians were in motion."* *"The Religions were broken."*

I personally think the game spis split into 2 Universes, One where peace is established and Joseph is arrested and hope county us free. One were Norskies nuke the US and joseph is alive

I think it's kind of ironic. Joseph could have gotten the majority of the county and all of its dooms day preppers to help out if he wasn't such a fanatic. Basically if the cult wasn't so batshit fanatical the whole prepping could have been a lot smoother. He wouldn't have needed to kidnap people or anything if the news was that grim.

You are right. Maybe they started with good intentions but all have physiological issues and went through harsh traumatic events in their life. So when people didn't believe or want to join them they started to use force using their twisted minds and ended up hurting more than they want to save.

Everything in this game was perfect, from the start to the end Just perfect

Since Assassins Creed, splinter cell, ghost recon, and watch dogs are in the same timeline of events as Far Cry, I came to the conclusion that the Templars managed to get their hands on nuclear weapons and detonated them to overall destroy the assassin's. But nope, the nuke came from Korea, missed opportunity, Ubisoft

This scares me, I really hope the world doesn’t go to war. I know its only in the game, but if I heard this on the radio, I wouldnt be surprised... Thank god I live in NZ!

I have to ask, how long were you listening to the radio before all of these came up? After I heard about these existing I drove around for nearly an hour (after John Jacob and Faith were killed but before the end) and only ever heard one

I got them in one hour but I recorded for two hours to be sure all are these. Same announcements keep cycling after one hour though. And you are right. These are not heard around Hope. I am specifically staying near the radio tower in Dutch's island which we activated in first mission. And this is the only place I got them. I hear an announcement approx. each 10-15 minutes there. Here’s how I would’ve written the ending: The Deputy rounded up all of his allies, new and old to arrest Joseph Seed, the falsifier. As they walk towards the church, guns pointed aimed at him, Joseph speaks to the Deputy, how everything that happened was his fault alone. After given the chance to walk away, the Deputy refuses, knowing doing so would give Joseph the chance to retake Hope County or worse, allow him to go into hiding and make a cult elsewhere. The Deputy says a passage from the Bible, Matthew 7:15. Infuriated, Joseph grabs a trigger from his inside his belt and pulls it. The barrels of bliss explode. The Deputy undergoes a hallucinogenic battle with a terrifying angelic version of Joseph, which morphs into a devil. He defeats him, but not before nukes go off in the distance, and the Deputy blacks out from the blast front. He awakes later with the help of his friends, who explain the barrels of bliss caused the deputy to go into a frenzy while then rest were mentally incapacitated by the drug. During this, the deputy managed to defeat Joseph, who The Chief now says is being transferred to San Quentin. The Deputy decides to stay in Hope County, as they have considered it their home, the land they fought and bled for. For his efforts, Hope County gave the Deputy full ownership of Seed Ranch. In a final scene, the Deputy gets in their plane and flies over the county, contemplating their future.

Nah I prefer the nuclear ending in this game as a canon. Especially considering that ending was intended to reflect the state of our world today.

So this is why there was no military stepping in to stop this guy.

I missed all of that. first thing i did in every car was turning the radio off because the music annoyed me.

To all the idiots debating if the ending is real: THEY’RE BOTH REAL. The missiles are in the air regardless of your choice. Moscow has been nuked, Trump has been moved to the bunker, emergency managers are in the major US cities. All of this is confirmed by the radio broadcasts you will hear as you drive to where it all began. shortly before you arrive to see Joseph one last time, Ajay is discovering Pagan’s message about his nuke stash pointed at Montana all at that same time. ICBM flight time from Russia to Montana is just under 30 minutes and the IRL geographical position of Kyrat would make those about 35 minutes out. They’re coming though either way and honestly it’s actually realistic for Montana to get by HUNDREDS of nukes not just the 6 you see in the game from the end of resist (3 outside bunker 3 once you’re in) seeing how Montana is a nuke sponge irl. In fact, now that we have other games to back up what I’m saying, when you think about it the only thing you’re actually choosing when you choose an ending, is whether you get to see the bombs go off or not. You resist, you spend most of the flight time fighting in vain and then bombs hit. Walk away and you get hypnotized, kill your three friends and head for the bunker. Either way collapse happens to make room for new dawn lol Oh and because I’m really a dick, VAAS is ALIVE

Everytime the radio starts in my game, it goes for like 10 seconds and then gets interrupted everytime.

I think I remember a similar broadcast in FC4 but I'm not sure can someone find out if its true?

I thought they were isolated from the outer world. I still believe it was Seed, not anything else.

YoUr MuM It seems like New Dawn will be a standalone story rather than a whole game and it is probably thought afterwards to benefit from this debate. Choosing nuclear ending for it doesn't necessarily make it a real ending for this one IMO. We don't know enough details about it yet and I didn't see anything post-apocalyptic in that trailer either.
