See if you can find someone at your gym to drill the moves you want to pull off but haven’t yet learnt in class. I found a guy with mats at his house and it improved my game a lot

A superb wee breakdown. As always, you're style of tuition is very easily digested and sufficiently clear to be an intriguing prospect for every exponent. Beautiful work yet again, Lachlan.

Pros and cons of going for the spinning arm bar vs a kimura from this position (with your shin trapping your partner’s other arm)?

2:55 How do you stop them from hip escaping and then coming back into full guard when you pull them up?

Try keeping your knee by his hip so it prevents him from moving the leg to guard

At 3:30 he leans on the hip I think that stops that too

I actually prefer doing basically this same move except from knee on belly for that reason. After I get the arm trapped from side control I'll hop up to knee on belly to pin the hips. Only downside is you can't trap the arm like he did so when you go to spin and execute the armbar a lot of times they will get ahold of their hand if you're not quick enough with the transition.

I’ve hit this so many times today one of my training partners scooted towards the wall once I got side control so I had no room to go around for the arm bar.

On the first watch, I completely skipped the part at the end. What do you know, I sit back and extend the arm, but then my knee is too weak and he escapes. I won't make the same mistake again.

Just turn the pinky up and it will stop that hitchhiker as well.

But if you extend the bar to the other side to prevent the hitchhiker escape he can grab his own arm and defend, right? From what I know you're not supposed to move the arm to that side because of this defense

But his knee is blocking the person on ground to turn and grab the arm(getting barred) with the other. So I doubt if that's possible .
