Fapy Lafertin and Le Jazz play "I've Had My Moments". Django Reinhardt recorded the song in 1935, about a year after the very first Quintette du Hot Club de France recordings were made for the Odeon label. "I've had My Moments" was among the first 24 sides the group made. The QHCF wasn't brand new, but they weren't yet as polished and powerful as they would be on their series of recordings made during 1936-1937 for the Swing label. Two versions of "I've Had My Moments" from 1934 are currently easy to find on KZread, a version from the Eddy Duchin Orchestra on Victor I've included here, and a version on Brunswick from Leo Reisman's orchestra. The Duchin version sounds more like Django's, and I would guess was the model for the QHCF version. Django's version has the great double-time section for the solos, which Fapy Lafertin retains in his 1994 version, featured here in two separate takes.

Thanks for the assemblage and notes. It remains my favorite Django flight.
