I visited a friend in Paris one week, about 25 years ago. I had never seen such a small apartment before but with the high price of RE in Paris, it wasn't all that unusual. He had a full sized bed that would come down from the ceiling via a hydraulic system in the living area and would end its descent just above the coffee table and sofa. Ingenious! And in the morning, a switch of a button would return it to its lofty stored spot in the ceiling. This was his very own design but had to keep it private because it would have been illegal to install in that part of the city.

@@blackmamba5380 I think it depends on the way a ceiling is constructed. Maybe it’s not fit to carry that weight.

One rule to not forget about these space saving furniture, most especially the transforming beds, is that you'll have to use them everyday. Imagine yourself setting up your bed every night and tucking it every morning. Eventually you might feel it like a chore and decide to just leave it at one particular configuration permanently. Having a mechanical versus automatic is also something to think on. Anyway i think the crib one is a great idea. Just take care of the furniture so it would still look new once you set it up as a regular bed.

  • @lauramcknight2321

I think a lot of people here are forgetting that there's been plenty of times in human history where people lived in small spaces. Bigger spaces meant more fuel to heat them and more material and this more expensive to build them. If there's one major thing we've lost in modern society, it's not so much the indoor living space so much as it's the nature that used to be just outside.

The author does like to from scratch, kzread.infoUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practise the full stack project, is still great.

Agreed 100%. The people living in smaller areas to save money probably cannot afford the cost of these things. Especially the installation costs of a lot of them. Plus things that can be re-adjusted take time to do so. I doubt 95% of people would do so unless they really NEED to do so. And like I said- are those who “need” it actually able to afford it?

Steel triple bunks were available in some countries after governments got rid of them for the military and prisoners. I bought one 13 years ago so my grandhildren could stay with me. They now live in their own house with their parents the "monster bed" which had new mattresses is still in use for one child. The monster means they can invite friends for sleepovers.
