The percussion duo "DoubleBeats“ was founded in 2012 by Ni Fan (China) and Lukas Böhm (Germany) during their studies at the 'Hanns Eisler' Academy of Music Berlin and became one of the internationally most successful percussion ensembles. Currently, as part of their postgraduate studies, the duo is artistically supervised by prof. Li Biao, prof. Franz Schindlbeck, prof. Rainer Seegers and pianist prof. Jonathan Aner - as the first percussion ensemble in chamber music worldwide.
DoubleBeats interprets both early and contemporary music. Their repertoire reaches from Bach via Piazolla up to Bartók and contains numerous adaptions and commissionary compositions for traditional as well as modern instruments.

So cool, please do more!
Fantastique! unbelievable dynamics, that beginning was stunning.
Magnifique interprétation de cette pièce exceptionnelle du Kantor. La charge de virtuosité, d'émotion de grandeur de l'ouvrage ne sont en rien altérées par la transposition pour marimba. Cela démontre l'universalité de la musique de Bach.
Too Amazing performance!!!
BRAVO!!!!!!Amazing performance. PERFECT BACH execution!
Tremendous!!!! Some of the best percussive interpretation ever for a Bach transcription. We need more professional expositions of such marvelous Bach playing. Best of wishes to you both!!!!!!!!!
So beautifull 💜
This is awesome! I am currently learning to play this on the piano. I would never have expected that it could be played in this way! What a beautiful performance!
GREAT
Brilliant!
The European culture has a way of taking the old and making it new once again with a whole modern viewpoint of interpretation. This duo needs to be doing chamber music residences in America's schools of music.

Thanks Jim, we appreciate your comment!!
Professional job and excellent music on each video, thank you! :)
Perfect
Beautiful performance! I find Lukas's Steven's technique very satisfying to watch 😊 Even when playing large strokes with the inside mallets, the outside mallets hardly move up and down---only rotate ☺️😵😊☺️😵😊
I love this interpretation. This video is another proof that marimba one marimbas are the best.

Particularly the very low register where by which a pure tone is created minus false overtones.
Bach would be proud.
Superb ! Quality of the recording is exceptional.
Sounds sublime!!!! Thank you so much!!!

Thanks, Josh! Well, this piece actually took some time - selection, arrangement, practicing...can't really tell how long but Bach is always worth it!
Anyone know where I can find the marimba music for this. I can only find the piano version.

Hey Gon Bon, thanks for you interest! I‘m sry to say we usually do not publish any of our arrangements - maybe someday...
Could someone please tell me what is that blue thing (kind of tape) on their mallets? Is that similar to VicFirth's Vic Tape? I'm searching for the answer for months... :/

Dear Lászi, thanks for the comment! The tape is original made for squash or tennis rackets by a company called "alpha".

This is the envelop of the winners, who take it all. Could also be the indicator of an Extraterrestrian.
Just curious, would it not have been possible to arpeggiate the chords in the Fantasia properly on the marimba?
Are those marimba one mallets?

Thanks for asking! Yep, those are MarimbaOne mallets - DoubleHelix and Wave Wrap series.
I'd kill for this stop on my pipe organ. lol Alas, not a common sound for a North German design.
The Fantasia I barely can hear something 😞
