The percussion duo "DoubleBeats“ was founded in 2012 by Ni Fan (China) and Lukas Böhm (Germany) during their studies at the 'Hanns Eisler' Academy of Music Berlin and became one of the internationally most successful percussion ensembles. Currently, as part of their postgraduate studies, the duo is artistically supervised by prof. Li Biao, prof. Franz Schindlbeck, prof. Rainer Seegers and pianist prof. Jonathan Aner - as the first percussion ensemble in chamber music worldwide.
DoubleBeats interprets both early and contemporary music. Their repertoire reaches from Bach via Piazolla up to Bartók and contains numerous adaptions and commissionary compositions for traditional as well as modern instruments.

Difficult not to be deeply impressed listening to Ni Fan & Lukas Böhm . . . Robert Marino is creating some of the more innovative percussion writing that I’ve heard. Thank you all so very much. If there are influences from Basque regions, and Txalaparta music, then double-thanks to the composer. (Please look me up should you come to Scotland)

I love this slower tempo. Usually it's so fast that people fake their way through the hairy parts but you guys were super clean. Maybe the best interpretation I've seen yet.

I love this interpretation because it makes the rhythms much more clear to the listener and you can tell you really had to be super clean and intentional. Incredible job

I started watching this while taking a break from working through a slow-paced tutorial video on something unrelated (that's the setup). As I was watching, I was marveling at their speed and accuracy, then wondering why everyone was saying their tempo was slow. Do people play this even faster? That's when I realized I had playback set at 1.5x speed. Still a joy to listen to at regular speed :)

The given tempo by the composer is faster, but we prefer a slower performance for the benefit of accuracy. Thanks for commenting!

This is easily the best performance I've seen of this piece. The tempos are for me, perfect. Tasteful and readable unlike many of the other recordings. Thank you so much for your performance! May I ask what sticks are being used?

I love this, best version of this I've seen, and it's musical, unlike so many others. There's just sounded like banging sticks as hard and fast as they could, it gave me a heads he, but this version sounds so much nicer and musical. Ignore those dislikes they're ether haters or have no music comprihintion

Dear Parker, thanks for your comment! You're right, it's slower than written by Marino. But in our opinion, it's the fastest possible tempo to still unterstand rhythm and structure.

I would have to agree with the slower tempo, although it's slightly slower than written I think this is by far the most musical approach to this piece I've seen. Far too often I see people perform it and there is no clarity or musicality to it.

Parker Stockford i felt that it was to slow too...until at 3:09 i heard how clean those split flams sounded.
