JYP is strict because he wants them to be great. Yeji didn't cry because he yelled at her, she cried because she was disappointed in herself. She also wants to improve. She said it with her own mouth so don't assume otherwise.

I don’t get why people are getting so worked up about this. He’s literally a producer. It’s his job to get the best possible version for a song that’s going to be there forever. He’s not even being that strict here, it could be so much worse. He is known for being a perfectionist in the studio when it comes to the songs he writes and producers, but look at how accomplished his catalogue is.

I think this is more of a grey area. He has a sound that he wants. And he needs them to do it. He doesn't want (for his sake and their sake) to release a track that is weak. He wants them to shine. But also there's plenty of reasons why Yeji might have been crying. She might have been disappointed in her ability, or she could have been frustrated. Haven't you ever done something, and not done it perfect and gotten so frustrated that you wanted to cry? Not because of someone yelling at you, but because of not being able to do it how you want it done? But also on JYP, he should realize that he won't get the desired result just by hammering at it over and over again. If after a while they don't get it, go take a break, eat something, let it sit. And then try again once you're less frustrated.

It's not that he's being hard on them really. He's doing his job and they're doing their job. It's his role as a PD to get the sound right and their job to give him the sound he's asking for. It's not an easy job. It's not just have a good voice and go up there and read some lines. There's delivery, emphasis, pronunciation...a lot goes into it and it takes work and effort and emotions happen.

A boss enforcing a certain quality from his employees, what a monster! /s What did you people expect from their recordings? A happy encounter with everyone laughing and agreeing 100% with eachother? Wake up, this is a business with a hell lot of competition. Idols are professional artists and this kind of pressure is part of their job. JYP is the boss and he MUST be strict because he knows how good they are and he is not gonna release a studio version if the final product is not the best.

Those were my thoughts too. Although we don't see the whole process, I assume they did cut out certain parts, but even with that in mind, there were no yelling, no cussing, nothing. Yes, he is strict, but he needs to be strict to bring out the best in them. Even with Yeji or Lia not meeting his expectations, he didn't flip out - sure, he was disappointed, but not agressive! When he went inside the recording room, I didn't hear any bad intention in that "Yeji-ah". Sure, he is strict, but he NEEDS to be strict, and tbh I expected far worse from the head of one of the biggest kpop companies.

I can guarantee you that every single k-pop group have had experiences like this in the studio. It's just that JYP and ITZY chose to share it. The 'recording behind' videos that most groups share are only a fraction of the real recording process. Recording vocals professionally can be really tricky, especially when the producer has such a clear vision in mind and they're on a time limit. ITZY are professionals and have been in this business for over 5 years, they know how to handle criticism. I imagine they feel frustrated when they feel they aren't achieving their best. JYP has been in the industry for decades and knows when to push for better vocals. It's not that unusual to see stuff like this in a booth.

I'm a fan of Itzy but some netizens are just over the top being dramatic. JYP literally wrote the song himself and his job as a Producer is to create music he envisioned. There are way worse producers who cuss their artists. He simply wants a good result. He didn't even yell at them, he just looked disappointed that's all. Believe me, recording sessions aren't all rainbows and sunshine all the time. He wrote this song for them and he wants to produce good music showcasing their vocal abilities even if it means pushing their limits.

This is what you get when you hype objectively poor quality kpop groups/music. People push for tiktok dance legends, but companies will take that as a sign to scout visually pretty idols that will no longer be properly trained for anything vocally related. In the end this only harms the idols themselves and it destroys their confidence when it comes to real idol skills. Anyone can be a dancer, but not everyone can be an artist. This is coming from someone who wishes the best for ITZY and similarly vocally struggling groups. The true blame ultimately lies with the kpop audience and it's current lack of responsibility to hype objectively sound music/groups. This is not anything ITZY or other similar groups should be blamed for. I will say that JYP as a company should take accountability for this and re-train them if this happens on a regular basis. Help the girls. Yelling at them won't work.

Jyp is doing the right thing...this is kpop.....when they perform live this track is going to be the backing vocal. This is the most important thing the group is doing. If this isnt right then everything is screwed. The people mad dont understand the business.

As a person who doesn't understang singing i can't honestly tell the difference everytime i watch videos about recording songs, artist repeat a single line a lot of times but it always sound almost the same, also with all the editing they will do on the song, i wonder, is all this stress really necessary?

If he's making a song for a JYP artists he makes them keep recording until it's perfect. Once you leave his company like 2AM and 2PM, he doesn't care, they were surprised that recording ended very quickly because all JYP artists had to go through his methods. Even YG's G-Dragon and iKON's B.I do use the same method with their members to get the most perfect recording so the fans can enjoy the song.

I didn't see him do anything inappropriate. At least in these clips he's just treating them like they're professionals doing a job. They're not children, so he isn't (and shouldn't be) coddling them, but he's not yelling at them either. I don't see a problem here.

Meanwhile Simon give hard time to XG during vocal evaluation nobody bats an eye 👀, on the side note, not to be harsh but itzy is just vocally weak group, they are just a strong dancer and performer, and that song message is quite powerful so i don't blame jyp for that, he just want to put out the best sound for them

people are only being angry because its jyp take a look at gidle behind the scenes recording it isnt all sunshines and rainbows just beause soyeon is directing and producing she is still strict with the members when it come to recording and using a certain voice to convey certain lyrics sorry but this just how producing works and it will harsher esp on grps who underdeveloped vocally producers just want the idol to do their best in the studio recording of the song and its their job to do so

jyp has a hand in what they brong out as artost not how they are managed he is a producer ffs and he isnt being as strict as some other producers you think if the members themselves were producers they wouldnt be strict if the recording member is unable to deliver the expected result needed for studio recording just look at gidle and skz they are strict even on their own members when it comes to recording and maybe take a look at xg recording bts and see how strict their prod is compared to jyp

He even produce a song for american R&b singer cassie and Will smith as well. He's an oldie of course his style of teaching are different. Even in school old teacher are stricter than young teacher. Soyeon are with her members meanwhile Jype is a founder of the company with 250m dollar net worth to 1 of his artist.
