Here’s what gets me. The fans want Cody to “finish the story.” The “story”, according to Cody, is to win the title his father didn’t win. The “story” didn’t have a particular setting. In 2008, Cena won the Royal Rumble but took his title shot against Orton at No Way Out, which was the following PPV. The fact is that the Wrestlemania card has been thrown a curve because of recent events(Punk’s injury takes away the match against Rollins while the recent allegations against McMahon have forced Lesnar to be pulled.). So, they needed to go in new directions. Rather than let it play out and see what’s going on, fans want to immediately dismiss everything rather than wait to see what happens next when IT HASN’T EVEN BEEN A WEEK SINCE ROCK RETURNED.

The thing with death threats is that today they get thrown out as easily as insults on social media multiple wrestling stars have confirmed that they had recieve death threats in the past like Baron Corbin when he gave Becky Lynch the end of days on RAW 🙄 social media is the wild west and it's really sad i think at least death threats shoul be taken more serious and those who get caught sending out death threats should be punished a lot harder

Nice PSA here and a reminder that real life and acting are two different things. I'm in my 50s and I like hearing what the younger (than me) generation has to say about wrestling storylines and that get it's only an act and not real life. They obviously are trying to see what the reaction would be if this storyline plays out to it's completion. It's also the ten year anniversary of the YES Movement and probably the end game to this is something similar. Nothing has been announced yet regarding this and two months left until the event happens. People seem to forget that. Until it's announced, stop over reacting. What people threaten to do and what they say in a comment section is just to get attention so someone gets their 15 seconds of fame. Let the storylines play out. To me, I’ve never understood the extremist behavior in fandom. They think that what they feel is more important than the actual story. It’s a story! This is story telling!! The best authors in history never were linear in a story, it makes a sense of suspense and excitement. The extremist behavior takes away from the art. The other thing is that this is a live stunt show and that comes with sharp turns that could change the story on a dime. With injuries comes changes in storylines. That’s happened multiple times! Look at Triple H! I wish people would just sit back, grab some popcorn and ride the wave of the story!

In my opinion it's just the evolution of the wrestling business. 40 years ago fans were sending in death threats via the U.S post office and sometimes they would actually jump the rail and try to attack the heels with knives because of the things they done in the ring. Ole Anderson got cut really bad one time, and Roddy Piper got stabbed. Wrestling fans use to literally start riots because they believed what they were seeing. In 1985 when the Four Horsemen jumped Dusty inside a cage and "broke his leg", it took the Horsemen over a half hour to get out of the cage and back to the locker room because they fans in the Omni were ready to get at them. Now, in 2024 wrestling fans get angry about the booking and creative decisions, so they make hollow death threats on social media, and threaten to riot with signs and tweets even though they know goddamn well they're not going to do it, and then they start hashtags and online petitions trying to change it, lol.

A member of the Anoa'i Family has been in the main event of 14 of 40 (35%) WrestleManias. 6 of 14 were victories (43%). 2 of 6 (33%) were non-title. 4 of 6 (67%) were Roman leaving as Champion. A member of the Anoa'i Family left WrestleMania as Champion 4 of 40 (10%). I call that earning respect. How do fans justify disrespecting Ava, a 4th generation wrestler, as if her family hasn't sacrificed for WWE as much if not more than any other wrestling family?

It's a shame that everyone is acting like they are because The Rock came out on Smack Down during the Cody/Roman promo. Cody said he got council from The Rock just before he came out. This doesn't mean he is taking Cody's place at Mania. People need to take a chill pill and let the story play out.

Hey I was born in 1988 I was all through the 90s and 2000s and how my favorite feuds was Stone Cold and The Rock and John Cena and Randy Orton. So I have nothing but respect for this business and I will never send death threats to anybody or tear them down. But I will give my opinion about how I think about it and feel about it because I feel like Cody Rhodes work too hard just to get the rug pulled from under him once again Drew said it best all the things he's done for this company since coming back in last year and this year already in and out of the company just to get treated like this. At this point, WWE should do Rock vs Roman and Cody vs Seth as a way of punishing the fans for going too far. Yeah, this is definitely an L take. The only thing I can agree on is that people should have left the rocks daughter alone. That has nothing to do with her, but everything else about this is incredibly justified. We have waited far too long for some part-timer to waltz right back in and take someone elses spot (who is WAY more deserving). Why have Cody win? Why have him point directly at Roman after his win? The only way this would have made sense would have been for the rock to be number 30 and win the Royal Rumble instead of Cody. What is even the point of having the man win if you aren't planning on booking Roman vs. Cody 2? This whole logic of "gUiZ jUsT wAiT aNd sEe." Is an incredibly broken line of thinking because the bell has already been rung and the match has already been booked, there isnt much that can happen asside from them now shoehorning Cody into the match to appease the fans.

Some wrestling fans suck. It's not ok tell another person to end their life over a wrestling storyline that has nothing to do with them. Anyone who would tell me that I should end my life, you will be reported and blocked immediately. With these types of events, I don’t want to say anyone’s emotions are wrong, but I ask, are your actions going to accomplish your goals? Going to NXT and disrupting the show will get you a lifetime ban. Picketing outside WrestleMania, most people will ignore you since they will be excited for the biggest wrestling show of the year. Threating people on social media should get you banned from that platform, but some platforms don’t have enough systems in place to handle it and I fault the platform for that. For content creators being overly negative brings in a negative audience and it may give a temporary bump in audience but is that the audience you want.

I think to a large degree the wrestling fans are what drove away the majority of the audience. It's so toxic that even the wrestlers and these companies are telling us to chill the fuck out. The IWC are the ones saying "this company is better because..." or "this wrestler is trash because"...it's like a reddit thread in real life.
