Fan Falls Into Bullpen Apparently Trying to Retrieve Ball, Comes to Feet Before Leaving on Stretcher
Спорт
On Friday evening, during the top of the 1st in Philly with the Phillies hosting the Red Sox, per reports a fan tried to retrieve a ball tossed to him by a player in the bullpen. The ball apparently landed in the flower bed just below the railing and the fan tried to reach over and grab the ball, forcing him to take a tumble. The fan miraculously came to his feet before being taken away off via stretcher with medical staff. We hope the fan is recovering.

It's really a wonder how this doesn't happen more often, given the lengths people go to just to catch a baseball.

I used to be a relief pitcher in MLB. The balls all come in a box from the vendor that you can also buy in a store. In never ceased to amaze me the lengths people would go through to get a home run or foul ball at times. There is nothing distinguishing about a baseball that is worth risking your life over. It's a little more valuable if you bring one from home then get it signed. But it's still not worth anything unless it was a special moment that is verified by an MLB official during or after the game, and the ball has a legitimate chain of custody. I know it's super exciting for a kid. But just don't risk your life over a piece of leather and string dad. Just ask the bullpen catcher for one.

Just one question or idea couldn't a player just toss the ball elsewhere to the fan instead of the fan reaching over the railing and almost getting himself or herself really really hurt couldn't one of the players just jump or do something else to give the ball to the fan you have other ways instead of tossing a ball
Damn, bro's eye was swollen already and his head had a nice welt on it. Hope he's ok. Looks like he took quite a bump to his head.
It looked like he feel from the railing to the top of the bullpen which is like 10 feet? Mustve fell on his head for it to be that serious cause 10 feet isnt that far. I fell off a roof i work in construction and it was a little over 15 feet other than a scare i wasnt hurt.
Hopefully, that fan is back to 100% sooner rather than later since he took a bizarre fall while attempting to catch a foul ball.
I hope he gets the ball
