Man, this was the best thing I ever could have done to my 2017 M8 street glide special. I noticed the difference right off the bat on hot days, it was noticeable in the way the bike rode and shifted on slow rolling Charity rides to.

Thanks for the great video. I just ordered the fan to fix to my 2020 Road King. It,s 100 deg here most of the summer and even the 107 runs too hot

I have a sportster. I ride 100% on surface roads. It’s been a blazing 115 ever day for the summer. I ride about 45 minutes home and I can feel the heat from the bike, the road and all the cars around me. I’ve got my helmet gloves backpack long sleeve shirt on. My bike rpms drop to 980. I ride it hard and yet to see overheated temperatures. I’ve gotten home and took temperatures with a laser temperature gun and and I took a food thermometer and stuck into the oil with engine shut off. Still at the operating temperature you should see. If you run it too cool you will tell the ecm to put more fuel in to get it warmer temperature. Bore wash incurrs

The factory fan won’t turn on until oil reaches operating temperature. This fan is more designed for stop and go city traffic.

Not sure if you've heard of the THUNDERMAX® OIL COOLER FAN kit but I was about to order this same HD oil fan cooler kit, but this Thundermax is very easy install in-place "plug & play" without all the hassle of all oil hose line removal & spills, check out it out next time--thanks for sharing.

How much lower was your temp and did you have Thunder max ecm in it to run that fan? Or you can run without it?

@@Heavy69Metal I am still waiting delivery of my new Thundermax oil cooler fan so have not installed it yet, but from what I've read, you have to take you bike to the local dealer and request the service tech enable the "oil cooler fan" feature in the ECM so that it will turn the fan on when the engine or oil temperature reaches a specific temp and your speed is less that 20 to 25mph, I think.

You have to remove the hoses for any oil cooler. It’s the only way the oil will be able to cycle through to get cooled down. Unless it’s in addition to stock oil cooler. Either way you have to either attach additional hoses or remove stock hoses.

@@WTDOOR63 thundermax is a fan-only modification. It only adds the fan assembly to the stock oil cooler. No hoses undone for the thundermax installation.

its literally the same as the HD one. thundermax only benefits you if the bike has the thundermax ECM. If you dont it still has to be flashed by HD

So the kit with the oil cooler is the same as what is already on the bike and the fan is the same with both kits, correct? There is little advantage to buying the kit that includes the oil cooler?

Biggest waste of money IMO! I can’t express enough that you should save your money. I have had one of these installed for 4 years and I have never witnessed the fan running. The thermostat for the fan is set so high before it cuts in. I was at the Laughlin River Run one year and it was so blood hot it was unbearable to ride and that fan would not run. Seriously save your money!!! It should be noted that I have the Harley version. And yes my ECM was flashed

If you watched the video you’d see where I show how to test the fan. And it comes on at normal temps anytime under 20 mph. Have a nice day.

@@ontwowheels6479 I tried it today and it doesn’t work. I’ve taken it back to the dealership to make sure they flashed it properly and it still doesn’t work. I’ve asked the dealership at what temp does it kick in and they had no idea. It’s not just me, my brother and I both installed these fans from Harley and they have never turned on. I’m glad to hear yours works. I’ve considered put it on a switch instead of a thermostat. I’ve replaced one M8 engine at 42,000 kms and I don’t need to do that again.

Mine cuts on at 225 because I have a digital oil dipstick. I can always tell when it's on because I have a few ribbons on it for verification due to not being able to hear it with the bike on. Also if I put my hand behind the fan I can feel that warm air its pulling through the cooler.

The temperature it comes on should be set around 210 but it needs to be set.... The Thundermax ecm program has that option...
