Famous Viareggio carnival dedicated to women
(9 Feb 2019) Thousands of people lined the streets of Viareggio on Saturday to watch a parade of satirical floats as part of the Italian city's annual carnival.
Renowned for its tongue-in-cheek take on contemporary issues, this year's parade focused primarily on international politicians, as well as social and environmental themes.
One float depicted US President Donald Trump as an emperor with Twitter symbols adorning the hilt of his sword.
Other floats addressed themes of bullying with hyenas tearing through a book, or environmental issues such as a whale swimming in plastic and "Mother Nature" as Snow White being poisoned with an apple.
The parade, dedicated to women this year, also featured several floats celebrating female artists and politicians.
It will run on several days until early March, when the best floats will be awarded prizes.
The annual event was born in 1873 as an act of defiance and mockery towards the noblemen of Lucca, a town near Viareggio, who sojourned on the coast to get some respite during the winter months.

Trump kicked Epstein out of Mar-a-lago after he found out Epstein was trying to get one of his guest's underage daughter. Trump had no issue calling out Clinton for being on Epstein's flight itinerary, why? Because Trump was never like them. Trump was never on that list. Trump is a business man, he wasn't Epstein's friend.
Was this making fun of Trump or promoting him? They even had Sabaton's Carolus Rex playing in the background.
