Famous Shogi Games: HABU vs TANIGAWA (Jun. 19th, 1993)

Ойын-сауық

kid=4295.
One of the greatest in the games played by these two players. We're gonna see how they could read extremely difficult and deep mating lines in the endgame.

    Middle blocks are not hard to find but all this counting - mate or not mate ^^".... a lot of hard training. Great game!

    Blocking it with a gold is not a bad idea. The problem with doing that is that you'll lose one very useful piece that you could otherwise use to mate the other king.

    a mate in 27 tsumi actually appeared in a game! wow (Not really a tsumi problem though, not all pieces in hand were used) Either way, amazing! I'd like to see microcosmos in a game :P

    Were the rules different back then? If I remember correctly, you can't drop a pawn that immediately checks the king?

    The rule prohibits mating with pawn drops, check is allowed.

    i have a noob question, when tanigawa drops that rook to 7i, personally i think i would have dropped a gold to block. if anything, it at leasts prevetns a silver drop on the same square... is this a bad move?
