Famous Graves - JOHNNY CASH, Sheb Wooley, Merle Kilgore & Others In Nashville, TN
Today, my travels take me to Hendersonville, Tennessee to visit the famous grave sites of country music legends Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash.
I also visite the grave sites of songwriter Merle Kilgore, singers and actors Sheb Wooley, Ferlin Husky and Charlie Walker.
For Johnny Cash fans, I also visit a few downtown Nashville Johnny Cash memorial sites and landmarks.
Thanks for joining me on another nostalgic road trip to the cemetery.

Remember all of the old ones! I’m from Nashville, TN and still live close by. Love all of the oldies but goodies! I’m a baby boomer as well. All my life I’ve loved country music and it’s here to stay the old country music.
On the wings of a snow white dove, he sends his pure sweet love......loved that song.
I like Ghost Riders In The Sky and Highway man. He sang the last one with Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings, three great performers. Thank you again for this upload.

Pete's always been my favorite character on Rawhide. It's good to know he's resting in such a nice place. Great work as usual! Thanks Steve!

mine too Ronald although I just found out the name of the song today. There will never be another one like him.
I knew Sheb Wooley personally, had the honor of getting to know Sheb through Ben Johnson. Sheb was also born in raised in Erick, Oklahoma; same home town as Roger Miller. Sheb had married a cousin of Roger Miller for a while. Sheb was one of many actors that attended Ben Johnson's graveside funeral service in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. I had met Johnny and June Cash one time and had seen them a few times over the years, I also had the honor in attending his last small concert shortly after June's death and everyone could tell that Johnny was not going to be with us to much longer. June and Johnny had died with complications of diabetes and I truly feel that Johnny died of a broken heart with June's death. Thanks for showing those gravesites and keep up the great work!

I was a big fan of Johnny Cash...I really like Folsom Prison Blues! Remembered all the old singers you mentioned...thanks for bringing back the memories.
Oh, I am definitely old enough to remember Ferlin Husky. My favorite song of his was 'I Hear Little Rock Calling'. A classic about my Home Town.
I was raised listening to Johnny Cash since my Dad was a fan. My very first concert was in 1971 when I was 5 and my parents and I went to see Johnny Cash in San Diego. I just wish I had been older so I could remember it better.
My mom was telling me how my late godmother weasled up to the front row of a Johnny cash concert at six flags great adventure in Jackson new jersey, about 46 years ago. My favorite songs are with him and June together. I loved the movie i walk the line
I love Johnny and June Cash they brought so much joy to their fans
So many of the greats are laid to rest here, love to visit there someday, One of my favorite Cash songs, was Ballad of a teenage Queen, and I have a picture of myself and Ferlin Husky on my nightstand I was a about 8 years old, that I treasure lol. The grave you couldn't quite figure out was Joe Maphis, a master guitarist; another Johnny Cash connection you missed...at least I thnk you did, is that Johnny's original guitarist, Luther Perkins, is also buried there, along with June's sisters, & June's daughter, Rosie Nix. Another great vlog though, as always, Steve!

Steve....Your trip has given us yet another great vlog. Johnny Cash is in a class all by himself. My favorite Cash song is Ballad of Ira Hayes. I am a history buff. Ira Hayes was a Pima Native American. He was one of the Marines in that iconic picture of the flag raising at Iwo Jima. His life was one of courage and tragedy. Johnny really gave a tribute to Ira Hayes in the song. Thank you so much for your vlogs.

Hello Steve. My favorite Johnny Cash songs are 1) A Boy Named Sue and 2) I've Been Everywhere. I remember laughing and singing those songs with my Dad. We always had the radio on in the barn and my Dad would chuckle and telling me the horses preferred county music. I believe he was correct. The barn was a happy place. To all our Dads. In our memories and hearts forever. Happy Father's Day. And thank you Steve for another interesting video.

Joe Maphis is buried near Johnny Cash's grave site. Maphis was a great Country music guitarist, and was known for playing his signature two-necked electric guitar. He was a regular cast member of the 1950s NBC Radio show, "Town Hall Party" (which was televised locally by KTTV Los Angeles), along with his wife, Rose Lee Maphis. Joe Maphis played electric guitar on Ricky Nelson's first hit records, and was invited by Nelson to be his lead guitarist on his first world tour. Maphis turned him down.

Funny you should .mention the humidity, Steve. It knocks visitors to the area for a loop that first visit, for sure. Glad you covered Sheb Wooley. also aml g do many others. "Flying purple People Eater," always gets the airplay around Halloween. You may have noticed pennies left on veterans',s gravestones at times.
