JonBenét Patricia Ramsey (August 6, 1990 - December 25-26, 1996) was an American child beauty queen who was killed at the age of six in her family's home in Boulder, Colorado. A long handwritten ransom note was found in the home. Her father, John, found the girl's body in the basement of their house about seven hours after she had been reported missing. She had sustained a broken skull from a blow to the head and had been strangled; a garrote was found tied around her neck. The autopsy report stated that JonBenét's official cause of death was "asphyxia by strangulation associated with craniocerebral trauma". Her death was ruled a homicide. The case generated nationwide public and media interest, in part because her mother Patsy Ramsey (herself a former beauty queen) had entered JonBenét into a series of child beauty pageants. The crime is still unsolved and remains an open investigation with the Boulder Police Department.
The Boulder police initially suspected that the ransom note had been written by Patsy, and that the note and appearance of JonBenét's body had been staged by her parents in order to cover up the murder. In 1998, the police and district attorney (DA) both said that JonBenét's brother Burke, who was nine years old at the time of her death, was not a suspect. JonBenét's parents gave several televised interviews but resisted police questioning except on their own terms. In October 2013, unsealed court documents revealed that a 1999 grand jury had recommended filing charges against the Ramseys for permitting the child to be in a threatening situation. John and Patsy were also accused of hindering the prosecution of an unidentified person who had "committed ... the crime of murder in the first degree and child abuse resulting in death". However, the DA determined that there was insufficient evidence to pursue a successful indictment.
In 2002, the DA's successor took over investigation of the case from the police and primarily pursued the theory that an intruder had committed the killing. In 2003, trace DNA that was taken from the victim's clothes was found to belong to an unknown male; each of the family's DNA had been excluded from this match. The DA sent the Ramseys a letter of apology in 2008, declaring the family was "completely cleared" by the DNA results.[7] Others, including former Boulder police chief Mark Beckner, disagreed with exonerating the Ramseys, characterizing the DNA as a small piece of evidence that was not proven to have any connection to the crime. In February 2009, the Boulder police took the case back from the DA and reopened the investigation.
National and international media coverage of the case focused on JonBenét's brief beauty pageant career, as well as her parents' wealth and the unusual evidence found in the case. Media reports questioned how the police handled the investigation. Ramsey family members and their friends have filed defamation suits against several media organizations.
JonBenét's body was found on December 26, 1996, in her family's Boulder residence. She was buried at St. James Episcopal Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia, on December 31. JonBenét was interred next to her half-sister Elizabeth Pasch Ramsey, who had died in a car crash nearly five years earlier at age 22.

Her half brother keeps pushing the BPD to use familial or genetic DNA that has solved a lot of cases that hadn't been able to solve before. They seem to be stonewalling him.

My dad's friend is a forensic profiler who was brought there to interview the mom and that is who he believes did it. It is truly sad that justice was never gotten for JonBenet.

Then your father's friend would know that she had DNA under her fingernails and on her underwear and on her body that did not match her parents or brother. The BPD screwed up by not releasing it or confirming that the parents were cleared, instead they have done nothing for 25 years. In fact they have not even submitted the samples to genealogy databases.

You are such a sweet soul. Going back an leaving those things for a little girl who never got to enjoy her last Christmas. I'm sure her six year old self would be very excited about the things you brought her. She was a beautiful little girl who deserved to live the whole life she was given. LT. Joe Kenda who worked on this case says it will never be solved due to just how bad the police messed everything up from the moment they arrived on the scene. Those 25 years have gone by so quick, that is a quarter of a century. When it comes to life don't blink. Thanks for the video Scott.

Scott, when I first found your channel I actually scrolled through to see if you visited JonBenét yet. This is the case that ignited my love for true crime as I remember when it happened although I was only 6 yrs old when it happened, only 2 months older than JonBenét herself! I cannot believe we still do not know the TRUTH. I'm not going to speculate of who did what, I just want to say that I can't believe there is still no justice for little JonBenét. RIP

This case was screwed from the get go. People in and out and cops being negligent in their duties. We studied this case closely while I was in med school. My personal opinion is the brother did it and his parents covered it up. Regardless, such a loss and tragedy 25 years later. I pray one day for closure. ❤️🙏❤️ Oh! Merry Christmas to you ❣️🙏😊

This is what happened - the parents covered for Burke. I have looked at all the evidence and it shows this is what occurred.

I believe this also. I only looked into this case once a month ago and my first thought was that it was her brother and the parents did everything they could to not lose him too. I get that. So tragic. Just my opinion

Agree, that family already had dysfunctional behavior in it. Burke from what I read about this case was resentful of Jon Benet, probably because Patsy was giving her inordinate amounts of attention due to enrolling her in kiddie beauty contests. Burke hit her over the head because she stole his pineapple.

@@Witchy1976 I think Patsy might have had something to do with it. John has a cold demeanor about him,but I do not think he was behind it.
I was a kid myself and I just couldn’t process how a young girl could go missing in her own home and the wind up dead like that. It was just awful, right at Christmastime too. I hope we can one day know the truth-it wouldn’t bring her back or erase any of the pain but at least the person responsible would be where they belong and not elude justice forever.

Someone in the little girls family, killed her in that home. And it was covered up. Either the parents did it or the son. He appears to be somewhat strange. Patsy, the mother looks cold and distant and just out of touch. And John Ramsey, I have no words to say about him. He started dating Natalie Holoways mom, the high school girl who went missing in Aruba and never found. This little girl Jon Benet was not taken out of her home and no one came in her family's home in the middle of the night and killed her. Someone in her home did those horrible things to her. Mother Father or the brother, Burk. Period. The fact that John Ramsey was a multi millionaire, and we'll connected, it kept him and his wife patsy from being charged and arrested and put on trial. So it is true, if you have money you can get away with anything. And that is what happened in this case with Jon Bennet. Poor little girl, never really had a chance to begin with. Such a sad sad case.

I have my theory as to what happened and who are the guilty ones, but at the end of the day, the sad truth is non of that matters now, cuz that little girl is still gone and will never come back, missing out on her entire life. Her and I are around the same age. I vividly remember this always seeing this story on tv. Till this day it baffles me how with ALL OF THIS NEW TECHNOLOGY we still don’t know who killed her. I pray her spirit is at peace and wherever did this pays the price

*Can't believe it's been that many years already. I was 25 with two little kids of my own, and I remember this murder of a little girl really affected me :-( I thought at the time (and still do), that the brother may have killed her in a fit of jealous rage and the mom covered it up. What kidnapper/murderer is going to take the time to write a 3 page long ransom note in the house where they could easily be caught?? With a specific amount for the ransom (118,000) that just so happens to be the exact amount they had just deposited in their bank account? Maybe Patsy felt, well I lost one child, I'd better protect this one, so she covered up what he had done. In any case, whether it was the brother or an outside party. I found it to be a tragic loss of an innocent life. Rest in peace, JonBenet.*

I love what you do Scott. When I was a very young kid I used to steal a couple of flowers from every grave that had them and put them on those that didn't, just so everyone got some. I hope they didn't mind!! I look back and think that would probably be frowned upon but I meant well and was only about 8 or 9. I really love watching your videos and the love and respect you show is inspirational.
