To answer your question @ 26:00 its a lot. While the LGBTQ community is often portrayed as a unified front fighting for equal rights, the reality can be more disheartening, particularly when examining the intersection of race and sexual orientation. The notion of unity within the community tends to gloss over significant rifts that disproportionately affect Black LGBTQ individuals. The concept of intersectionality, which recognizes the overlapping and interconnected forms of discrimination that people can face, is often overlooked or even ignored by white LGBTQ members. While they may be marginalized due to their sexual orientation, white LGBTQ individuals often still benefit from systemic racial privileges, sometimes leading to a blind spot regarding the unique struggles that LGBTQ people of color face. Critically, issues that are front and center in the white LGBTQ community don't always align with the most pressing concerns for LGBTQ people of color. For instance, the well-funded and highly publicized fight for marriage equality mainly served the interests of a white, affluent subsection of the LGBTQ community. Meanwhile, anti-discrimination laws, healthcare access, and equitable treatment under the law-issues that disproportionately impact Black LGBTQ individuals-often take a backseat. It's a sobering reality that suggests the LGBTQ community is far from the monolithic entity it's sometimes portrayed as. White privilege within the community often serves to sideline the pressing, life-or-death issues that disproportionately affect LGBTQ people of color. This persistent gap suggests not just a lack of unity, but an active form of neglect that makes the vision of a wholly inclusive LGBTQ community more of an aspiration than a reality.

This! If I’m being honest gay people already won with the gay marriage bill and things died down. But now they’ve gotten too political and pushing trans stuff. They want gender neutral bathrooms and terms. We can’t do gender reveals or say oh hey, your daughter is a girl! Instead it’s your a child. I just think things are getting pushed too far. I’m so glad you are calling out they even if you’re LGBT…you still benefit from white privilege, which is so true.

So make your own comment and do not muddy up mine trying to make it seem like I think a certain way or said something I didn’t. My opinion is only about the issue in the video and not about who anyone chooses to be with. Idc about that AT ALL. Like I said if you grow, learn, change the take accountability vs making excuses. You leave 100’s of racist posts, then delete that isht if they’re no longer part of your belief system. Like it was literally just 10 years ago. She’s in her 20’s not her 70’s so she didn’t forget. What’s also problematic to me is that whoever leaked the tweets is likely someone she hung out with and the timing in which is was released the racist buddies she spent time with probably disapproved of her marriage. Yet people aren’t talking about that. Instead you chose to attack me? Why? For speaking truth? I could care less about the marriage and only about the accountability. She didn’t just mess up with the racist behavior, she messed up by not getting rid of it when she supposedly changed. Me? If I were her, had changed and was no longer a racist, I would’ve deleted that whole account. And made it a teachable moment as soon as I possibly could. I have to question if she’s truly sorry. There’s a difference between being genuinely remorseful and just sorry for getting caught.

Can't wait till someone says that him. But remember its normal. People who clout chase off of things like this are pathetic. He sounds crazy. And how do you look racist? Question for the black woman talking about "She don't look like she is that now". Then again she looked smart. Them opened her mouth. I just can't. Olivia was not for at 9:00 not 10 years old when she made this call and she's 16 and she knows exactly what she was saying and how would affect people and that's why she said it. She said it to hurt people.

Gay whites are typically racist, gay white men are also typically sexist . Being gay , bi , queer etc do not remove white privilege if you’re white just like it doesn’t remove one’s blackness , hence why I always advocate for safe spaces in the black community for the black lgbtq folks cause they are us and we are them . I as a black woman kinda get it because it’s basically intersectional, but instead of it being about gender and race for me it’s about sexual orientation and race for them and if you’re a black lgbtq woman it’s even wilder , as you’re now three turns down in the intersections , between race , gender and sexual orientation

She knew this foul word was not appropriate. How are you going to be an older teen in America (especially the South) and try to feign innocence?! At the time she did it she did not care because she had no consequences for her behavior. If she had truly changed she would have been transparent before she was exposed. As for her using that disgusting word, every yt person in America knows that it is offensive. As an African American you know this word is meant to denigrate you before you reach 10 years old. Even if our people use it, they know they should not. They hide and deny when they do use it. It's time to face the consequences of her actions. 😊

That one gay man was doing the most. It's also crazy how almost every white person had a racist past and we're all okay with it. It doesn't even matter if they were raised in a liberal or a conservative household, they somehow have a racist past and that's crazy. Black people are allowed to be offended and I don't care if y'all call us sensitive, sensitivity is not a negative emotion imo especially when we've been painted as brutes who only feel rage and anger. The lgbtq community is divided and white gays are at the top of the food chain while Asian, black and trans people are at the bottom. It's depressing af.

I'm of the community. I would say yes, the white community here in the Caribbean is privelaged and largely detached from us and our issues. But I primarily live and work around people of colour, so I don't see white folk a lot. I can say although the white people here are generally wealthier, that our community has received the vast majority of help from other black/brown people who were struggling as well and made sacrifices to rescue one another from discrimination, harm and poverty. I think these women are privelaged, but I don't think they are bad. It's just another scandal which doesn't really affect me or my community. They are obviously detached from the black community and that's to be expected considering their upbringing. But the LGBT community isn't a monolith and we have different experiences or "diasporas" you can say. I hope these two continue to learn and grow and come up with a better apology, but honestly I didn't even know them. The black community is clearly not their niche. Yes, racism is harmful but in the grand scheme of things, I don't think these girls are particularly malicious or bad. I have no hate, I hope they change, and I think as we as a community continue to pull ourselves up and rise up, which we are imo, issues like this won't be able to affect us as systematically.

Rather than sitting on it for several years waiting for them to get famous before “exposing” them?? Cos if we are to be sincere, nobody really gets “canceled” from things like this, it’s obvious from the amount of people who are defending her… 🤦🏾‍♀️

I was raised in a multicultural multiracial family and church. And was simply never taught hate. Therefore as a small child my best friends were other races. Children aren't born racist or to see or know any differences! Watch tiny toddlers playing together before they've been taught any differences and see how they react with one another with kisses and hand holding bc it's just another human being, another baby like them. A friend to play with. Then in comes the teachings or beliefs around them from family and friends and they become what they're taught. Act how their family acts. And it's sad. I was simply never taught to hate and then later was always taught that God made us all in his image and that we all bleed the same as Jesus did. He died for all of us. And that's all I need to know. We are all brothers and sisters in christ. And therefore brothers and sisters in life! I choose with my heart and soul to break bread with any of my brothers and sisters and now I have a fully multicultural and multiracial family! And couldn't be happier! I have the most adorable and sweet and kindest little biracial cousins ever! And can't wait for when they come in town and always make sure they stay with me!! My long point is that I can't imagine being racist for a few yrs of my life...and then changing after awhile. I'm from the south. I see and know ppl like her and they simply learn when and who they can be their true selves around. Behind closed doors or at home they are as racist as can be. I see it all the time bc I'm white and ppl assume I feel the same way. I'm privy to a lot of undercover racism all the time that angers me and hurts my heart. She didn't learn better or change. She simply gained a large following a knows what NOT to say anymore bc of her platform. Period. Sorry if you made it til the end of my post. Thanks for your time. I was triggered. heh 😡

Kids know the n-word is racist, and definitely so do teenagers, O dont understand that excuse, especially for Americans, even in. Korea, a fountey that is very racist, kids and teens know better, it's such a bad excuse. Also the "they apologised and haven't said it in a video" (obviously because that's bad fir their careers, what rhwy do/say off camera is their real selves, on camera is fake) "there were black plantation owners" (💀) "black people say it too"(not all do and there is a huge difference between a black person saying and anyone else, especially a white person, saying it, especially when they're explicitly using it to be racist) People have known racism is bad for a very long time, I honestly wouldn't believe if someone said "it was the 80's it was a different time" because racism was still bad, people were still fighting it then but 2012!? Yeah, anyone saying it was fine then is just lying
