Family Stories | Abraham and Isaac

Ойын-сауық

Other gods demanded human sacrifice, but our God sacrifices himself for humanity. The narrative of Scripture is not a story of humans laying their lives down for God, but God laying his life down for us. Join us as Zach W. Lambert leads us through the story of Abraham and Isaac.
We are here for our live online gathering every Sunday at 10am CST. If you’d like to connect with Restore, go to www.restoreaustin.org/connect.

God is not asking us to sacrifice ourselves, our children, or anyone else on the altar of religion. More people need to hear that. More people need to hear that

This makes sense in so many ways. God met Abraham in a way that Abraham would understand a god to act - to require a child sacrifice, and then revealed a part of his character. Love. For even the littlest. Let the little children come to me...

I loved this message! I think everyone should hear it. I've mainly heard the interpretation of how Abraham was willing to do anything for God and we should do the same. When I was learning more about myself. I became super afraid of God, because I believed that God hated everything I was. (I was realizing I had feelings for women, as a woman.) And I believed God was telling me to sacrifice myself on the altor of religion. You can not imagine the joy and confusion I felt realizing that that was not the case. I have always had major difficulties with the story of Abraham and Isaac, and I have to admit, I teared up a little during your interpretation. Because it clicked. I loved this interpretation. That God used this story to show that he was different from other gods.

Luke 9:23 And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
