I suspect this is a German thing, but when we go shopping and know we are buying a lot, we take laundry baskets in the shopping cart to help. After paying, we put the stuff right back into the baskets at the checkout. Loading into the car is then much faster, because you only have to load the filled laundry baskets and carry them out of the car again when you get home. Especially if you have bought so much, this saves a lot of time and patience, because you do not have to rummage the individual things out of the car, but already collected in the baskets. Also, a tip for breakfast. In Germany, instead of bags, we use reusable lunch boxes that are washed in the dishwasher. These are so much more climate friendly. It's not meant to sound unkind, but especially with such a large family, it would also be good to pay attention to the ecological footprint. You do this with your great reusable coffee mug after all, why not use more reusable things like this?

Hi Alicia, I love your shopping vlogs. it is very interesting to see how different grocery shopping is outside of Europe. It is fascinating how many semi-finished and ready-made foods we can find in stores. For example, grated cheese. in my country in ordinary shopping chains we can find a maximum of 150g package of grated mozzarella or parmesan. For me, coming from a country that is very interested in recycling, it is very surprising that you only have one trash can in the kitchen and almost everything you buy in the grocery store is wrapped in plastic. I have 6 trash cans in the kitchen for sorting waste. that's why I like your vlogs so much. It is fascinating to watch your life and your love for all your children. You are an amazing mother.

Putting groceries away is the worst part for me! You have such awesome time management and get so much done in such a short amount of time! Your family is blessed to have you! I find it incredible that in each of your trips you see something that one kid likes and you think of them and will grab it for them! So many large families don't seem to take individual preference into consideration and while I understand it keeps things simple, it's always nice to feel heard and be recognized and have those things we enjoy as individuals! For smaller families it's pretty normal to grab a candy bar or ice cream etc for each kid but I haven't seen it as the norm for large families other than yours. I love it and I'm sure your kids will grow up and really appreciate that you know how they like their sandwiches and what flavor of drink they're into as an individual and not just a group! I say this as someone who has food issues with textures and flavors and aversions and how much it's meant to me through my life when someone other than my mom and dad took the time to remember and not judge me for choosing to starve over trying the new thing. Thank you for saying fed is best BC I personally know that I'll go without before venturing into the scary food world, I wish more ppl would have your outlook! 💜

i absolutely love these vlogs. they satisfy my inner desire to buy tons of snacks, drinks, ice cream, and fruit. Maybe some people can relate, but growing up we didn't get anything but the bare essentials and maybe a special cereal or berries if we were good. the shopping vlogs are a comfort, especially when you pick out each kids favorite, things they want to try, and things that are comfort/safe foods.

You have all of these great recipe's that you share and it makes life a little more simple/easy..I use those recipes!! You and Josh are raising these kiddos that aren't biologically yours, you are not only giving them a better life, but a chance at a future!! You are giving them a beautiful childhood with amazing memories that they most likely wouldn't of had otherwise.. You are loving them and teaching them how to be great individuals and allowing them to be themselves and have fun but be serious when necessary.. You are providing every single aspect in life for them and that is what makes yall GREAT!! Who knows if you and Josh would have ever conceived biological children, maybe BECAUSE you adopted Alex you were given that beautiful gift!! All I know is that NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE HAS TO SAY ABOUT YOU ALL I AM HERE FOR THE LONG HAUL!! I appreciate what you do for ALL of your children, biological or not I don't see those kiddos as who is blood and who isn't,I see them ALL as Dougherty's.. I always look to see how many pounds of berries you buy for your family, and I doubt mine could handle the limited quantities. Of course, I do try to hit the orchards and farms and buy in season and freeze for later in the year. To that end, we actually had a peach cobbler today from peaches I preserved before my vacation. No shame in doing what you are doing at all, just adding a bit of perspective from where I was when raising my kids to what I'm doing now to teach them about eating seasonally. I have my fellas for Sunday dinner each week. Today we had pasta because I was in the middle of canning tomato sauce and pickles - I didn't have the energy for another recipe. We discussed our plan for next week, and we are doing a creole shrimp and clam boil, since I just returned from Louisiana and brought consumable souvenirs. I first heard about the Doughertys on Love What Matters, and then you showed up on my You Tube feed. You are so committed to doing a good job raising all the kids God has given you, and your kids seem to be happy and healthy. My twins (and my nephew who frequently joins us) are all on the spectrum, so life around my house is anything but dull.

I’m always so invested in your shopping videos, it’s interesting to see the difference in stores in America vs New Zealand, I used to work at a produce store here and you are completely correct about looking for yellow spots on watermelon but another good trick is to look for webbing and black spots that tells you that the watermelon is going to be sweet, the black spots is where the sugar has leaked out cause there is so much of it within the melon, I hope you find this useful and I wish your family the best

You can see a good pineapple at it´s colour. It should be between golden-brown and brown. (e.g. the colour of the inner circles at the bottom of the pineapple you bought) as well if the leaves aren´t that close to the fruit anymore. Greetings from Germany.

I wish people understood how much food it requires to feed 14 people plus guests! You have to think about breakfast for 14, lunch for 14, dinner for 14, snacks for 14, random treats to make each child feel special for 14, plus random items you need for daily function and overall health and wants/ needs. I don’t understand how people don’t get why she has to grocery shop so often. Anyways love your channel. ❤️🙇🏼‍♂️

I used to have to stop and make emergency store stops because I ran out of something, and there were only 3 of us! Sometimes there's an unexpected rush and I run out of baby carrots in 2 days. sometimes I have to make carrot soup so they don't go to waste. times that by 14? amazing!

@@raisingcubs7915 Well how about you feed your family the way you feed them and she does the same. You’re not a foster/ adoptive mother i am assuming? So you have no idea what connection these kids have to certain foods. Plus a lot of them have mental ailments. Stop being so judgemental. Don’t like it? Don’t watch.

@Lori Smith tell me what behaviour of them is so concerning that you have to make those children away from their foster parents they grow and love with? Instead of nitpicking small things, how about like you said prioritize the kids? You can see them getting love in this family and well fed. If your "concern" is about the spending, go say the same thing to other KZreadrs buying $5000 luxury bags and vlog for views

Same as the watermelon when choosing a pineapple. More yellow you see from top to bottom and all over, the more ripe it is. As a Sāmoan, we eat green bananas/plantains. It has to be all the way green though. Lol When I make oatmeal, I only use brown sugar and butter. Tastes heavenly.

He comes to me asking “box fun?” When he wants to watch because of all the boxes he sees on the shelves and because he’s having such fun watching and who can blame him? I love watching too. He also names foods he sees and knows while watching like “cookie” and “eggs” so he also gets to practice talking. 😁 P.S He cries when the videos end. He loves you so much.

I wanted to share with you Bacon sliders that I made up using the Hawaiian rolls. I promise it is easy, delicious and you need to at least try it!!! Make some bacon, cut open the roll, add mayo to the top,( rip apart 1 slice of bacon to 1 roll), place it on the roll, add lettuce and you’re got to go! My son has added cheese to his and says it’s good. I have also made bacon and egg sliders as well! Enjoy!

Alicia, I'm curious as to why you don't redirect your energies into having a home extension built so that the children aren't crammed into small bedrooms? I know your revenue is mainly from grocery shopping but the same amount of money could be gained by shopping at the DIY shops or from being sponsored as you design and choose everything you need. All this money you spend on transient things could go towards a more user-friendly home for both you and Josh and the children whilst helping the kids see the benefits of saving towards things of substance. You could still continue with your 'food safety' and 'food choices' lifestyle and yet provide some much needed space.
