Ойын-сауық
It's been 24 years since 'Family Matters' came to an end on July 17, 1998 after 215 episodes, and when Entertainment Weekly reunited the cast of the beloved sitcom in 2017, real love was burstin' out of every seam.

Along with the "Cosby Show" & "Fresh Prince", this show was the essence of the successful Black Family. One of the best Family sitcoms of all time. Great chemistry & the show always had a great moral lesson. Friday night always meant "Family Matters" & Pepperoni Pizza.

Yes! The intact Evans family from Good Times and the intact and wealthy Jeffersons walked so that these shows could run 🙏🏼 Esther Rolle, who played Florida on Good Times, insisted if the show was to happen, the family HAD to have a present father, because she was fed up of seeing Black families only ever being portrayed as broken/single-parented.

If they do decide to do a continuation of the show like *That's 70's show* I fully guarantee we will see an emphasis on showing the feminization of the black male image. They will either have Waldo, Eddie, Ritchie(in the lead to be it) and Steve be gay with a white or Asian husband/wife. I'm leaning towards it being a Asian man because it's a PR stunt to make Asians look like the good guys when in reality they are planning to invade the U.S. by taking our guns away and shrink our military forces then EMP. Smh and the writers are Jewish women and men or black woman who may be gay herself. Peep game.

As a little Black kid in the 90’s, I wanna thank FM and Urkel for showing us that Black kids can be geniuses too. We were only shown White and Asian nerds, and Steve and Carlton from Fresh Prince were the 1st Black genius/smart kids on tv that I saw for my generation in the 90’s, and we eventually got TJ from Smart Guy by the end of the 90’s but Steve and Carlton were the 1st. @BigSplenda1885

"even as a non African American" - the fact that you even felt you had to say this is a sad state of affairs about our modern society. When this show was made we were well on our way to getting past racial divisions, as a white kid watching this show I never once thought "they're black and different", I just thought they're human beings like me. I always compared my own dad to Carl, my grandma to Estelle, and didn't think anything of it.😢 I wish our world today could be more like that
I didn't realise it back then but that Jaleel kid was really talented. Playing multiple characters with such ease is impressive, and at that age... nearly impossible.

I think in a past interview he mentioned JoMarie and Reginald had put pressure on him when he did the Myrtle character. They felt that he was doing African American people a diservice being put in a dress. @@lisacox3750 Totally. I mean, he WAS the secret ingredient that made the show so popular, no doubt... but I can't IMAGINE how full of himself he was back then, I mean, look at him here... he ONLY talks about himself. Everyone else's favourite moments were meaningful moments with each other, but his were all about himself, he doesn't even mention anyone else.
The way jaleel played myrtle urkel was iconic ... "Eddie that name rolls off my tounge like honey" 🤣
I think Jaleel White doesn't know how much of an impact this had on the population of Black People back then. Many black men, especially black people became proud of their educational pursuits, just by watching his show! Props!
I loved this reunion so much! I can't believe its been 24 years since the show ended! I just wish in this reunion they would've talked a bit about Michelle. Myra was a memorable character and its heartbreaking how young Michelle was when she passed away, she deserves to be remembered!

@nemo pouncey Judy turned into a pornstar and disappeared off into the streets. 3J aka Orlando brown has a drug addiction and has been struggling....he wasn't a main cast member anyways so that's prolly y he wasn't there. Judy was barely even a main character and she was one of the siblings

No reboot is necessary. Let's leave well enough alone folks. This was a great show and doesn't need one.

@@debrasloan5541 I wouldn’t say better than the Crosby show but just as good. Both shows had the same family feeling. That’s your opinion and you’re entitled to that but why do the two shows have to be compared, they both bought their own uniqueness to tv show about black families. They were in no competition with each other

Positive black stories. Not the ratchet trash that runs rampant in todays “Black Stories”.
Aww, I LOVED this show growing up! TGIF was the best! Great cast. So many kids used to dress up as Steve Urkel for Halloween & say, "Did I do that? " I've gotta introduce this show to my kids ❤
It's sad they have resentment towards Jaleel White due to his annormous success on the show as Steve and Stephen. He seems so laid back and down to earth. I am glad that he got the popularity.
Thank you People magazine for featuring a Family Matters reunion. The entire cast looks amazing! It's beautiful what the show gave us & sad that we don't have ones like it anymore. Would definitely watch if they did a reboot.
I miss fun family shows like this that all ages could watch and laugh. Thank you so much for being a large part of my childhood and so many giggles ❤️

Whatever. I am getting sick and tired of these actors coming together on a set... and calling it "a reunion". This is a cast meetup, not a reunion episode. Stop trying to change what a "reunion show" is. They are not in character, they are not acting on the show. Its cute to see the actors being friends on set, and talking about their JOBS. But this is not "a family matters" reunion. Hollywood truly lost all the good writers with these types of productions. These people are sitting here pretending like they are not friends off camera. Its crap, the Martin reunion as well... Who cares about seeing all you people together on a set? You are getting clicks from people who want to see an actual continuation of the damn show. This is a bunch of actors sitting in front of a camera, getting paid to talk about something they did to make money. Stop clicking this bullcrap. Amen
Family matters was a very funny show to bad you don’t see good shows like this anymore.❤
One of the greatest shows ever, I need a boxed set!! Still comforting, relating and Hilarious to this day!! Much love to them all , rest in peace Michelle Thomas and Rosetta Lenore.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾

LOVED, loved, LOVED this wholesome, down to earth, feel good, iconic family show. Now THIS is a show that millions of people would love to see a reboot of. Everyone played a good role and added something terrific to the show but Jaleel White as Steve Urkel was GREAT!!! I could never understand why his career didn’t skyrocket after that. I think he should be a Mega-millionaire by now because his acting was SO SUPERB!
It was such a great portrayal of the majority of black families. The topics were on point. The love was real. Great programming. Congrats to them all on a job well done. Some are no longer with us but they are not forgotten.

I genuinely feel me and majority of my non-Black peers grew up not only non-racist but anti-racist because of shows like Family Matters, Fresh Prince and Cosby. From the age of 4, I watched Black families be moralistic yet hilarious: doctors, lawyers, judges, policemen, jocks, A-students, preppies, nerds, annoying siblings. Just like me and my family and every other American family. It was so formative to my feelings and ideals regarding social parity.
Mother Winslow was THE best character!! Darius and Shawn have aged well 😍 I’m sad they didn’t mention Michelle Thomas at all 😢

This show was a staple of my childhood. Every Friday night almost without fail I would turn to my sister at dinner and say “guess what’s on tonight?” Sometimes she would remember and other times I would have to tell her “Urkel is on tonight” and we would just get so excited. I hope this show does come back in some form like showing the kids of Steve and Laura or something. I would love that.
