The first time I heard it was in an Amnesia Custom Story video done by Yamimash for the custom story titled "Dark Room", which was basically just memes galore. Troll face, Nyan Cat, Pedobear/Running in the 90s loop, and others were present in said custom story.

Looking back, this is a loving homage to a late musician with a tremendous presence in early Internet culture... On the other hand, I remember all the discussion about it at the time just being how late Family Guy was to the meme 😂

The story of Eduard Khil (Russian singer) performing this is so heart warming, the original song "I Am So Glad I'm Finally Returning Back Home" was an American song about a cowboy returning home on his horse, and he loved the upbeat vibe and message of the song, but because this was during a time when the Russian government wouldn't allow anything positive about the West to be publicly disseminated, he decided to instead replace the lyrics with the "Lalala" vocal, since just the tune and upbeat rhythm was enough to make the song great, and it was a massive success even before it caught on because of this Rip Eduard Khil

RIP Eduard Khil - he was a really sweet and kind person, and a talented singer of course. Not a lot of people know this, but he was a kid during the WWII and he was separated with his family, authorities sent him to an orphanage. He and other kids suffered from hunger. When his mother found him, he could barely walk. I watched an interview when he talked about his childhood and all the things he saw during the war. And he had tears in his eyes. I can confidently say, he'd never support the war with Ukraine.
