They use actual locations in the games. When i went on vacation to Boston and the east coast, my b-i-l was surprised about how much i knew about landmarks around Boston. I had to laugh when i told him it was all from a video game. Locations from the game Boston Common, Diamond City (Fenway Park), Fanueil Hall, USS Constitution, Saugus Ironworks, Salem, Jamaica Plains, Old North Church, Derby Downs (horseracing track actually looked just like in the game), Far Harbor (Bar Harbor, Maine), Boston Library..... just to name a few

Same here! We went on a New England cruise with stops in Boston and Bar Harbor. I was worried my spouse was gonna duct tape my mouth shut because I kept saying, "That's in the game!" I've played Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, and Fallout 4, and 4 is my favorite. However, I love all three . . .

Not every vault had an experiment. There were “control” vaults that had no experiment at all. Whenever your doing an experiment you need a “control” to compare the experiment too.

The Ghoul's wife also refers to getting into one of the 'good' vaults last episode.

When Lucy and the head guy are leaving Fili, in the third or fourth episode, the chicken guy shouts at them as propaganda that he could cure the head guy's foot... well, he wasn't lying, lol

In fallout lore, transformation into a ghoul is a mysterious thing. There are currently 3 known ways for it to happen: 1. Sudden exposure to and survival of a massive amount of radiation in a short burst 2. Long exposure to small amounts of radiation over a long time 3. Taking an experimental drug. Before the series there was only one character I know that this ever happened to, Hancock from Fallout 4 Most people exposed to this just die of radiation, but occasionally people become ghouls, and no one really knows why. Maybe someone who knows more could add to this info.

There is also a theory that there is a dormant gene in the human body that is activated with radiation exposure as your numbers 1 and 2. Kinda like in Deadpool when he was injected and put under high stress moments for the mutation will activate.

A corollary to that is the question what Harold is. He looks -like- a ghoul and has a tree growing out of his head? Is he an actual ghoul, is he a kind FEV non-super mutant? Tim Cain himself said that they left all of these questions purposely open, because it's fun to leave room for storytelling. I like that there's possibly a snake oil salesman that might've stumbled across some strain of FEV in a bottle, it fits right into the Fallout universe.

The Nuka-Cola machine that Maximus threw across the room landed on the table where the supplies were. My guess is that Betty or Stephanie or both of them gave the rat poison to the prisoners in order to get Betty's re-settlement plan started. Of course, there is another, far-fetched, possibility and that would be Stephanie coerced Chet into doing the dirty deed. I want to know how "the head" grew SO MUCH hair since being cut off of the body. I know that some cells of the human body can still grow, but Wilzig's hair wasn't that thick or even that color.

If you all have never watched "Firefly" and then the movie "Serenity" it was only one season and it is my favorite show of all time. It is very character driven and great writing. Much love and keep on keepin on J.

The helmets and outfits the opening prospectors wore was New California Republic Ranger outfits. You can get them in Fallout New Vegas. Thaddeus could still walk because video game logic. 🤣

Listening to a radio signal and following it as it gets louder is a game mechanic in Fallout 4 (possibly Fallout 3 too?). This is just another example of how the writers included little pieces of the gameplay in the story.

I first played F3 in 2016 and FNV in 2019, so it's hard for me to believe they are that old. Both games are so good. (And Fallout 4 is _so bad_ 😅 Come at me.)

Not wanting to give any spoilers, but there’s a hint in a tune playing in the background when Norm sees whatever he sees in Vault 31. 😉

Your thoughts about how Norm is brave and has no fear. Remember in Ep1 with the Raiders attacking, he hid under the tables, Lucy helped him hide below a panel on the floor and when she is getting ready to leave she tells him that he cannot join her and he replis that she don't have to worry, he's a coward. But he has other qualities, he was the first to realize something was wierd with the crew from Vault 32, he noticed glances and their behaviour. They demoted him from computer tasks to serving food to the raiders and he was able to use that to hack into the systems to learn about how all people from 31 become Overseers, how his mother's Pip-Boy was used to open Vault 32. He asked Steph about Vault 31 to see if her story would differ from his dads (or if they gave the exact same message as if it was rehearsed), he hinted to Betty about them cleaning up Vault 32 and a bunch of other things! He's lacking in bravery but he is curious, notices small hints and clues. Him actually going into Vault 31 is a massive step into bravery for him, or maybe into stupidity, but I don't think he sees it as that, I think it's more his curiosity getting the upper hand and he wants to solve this mystery..

Or he is brave but also knows his limitations. Not sure what use he would have been in the fight with the Raiders or on the surface. Maybe even a hindrance. He knows this because he is smart. Bravery can exist outside of physical melee

Sons of Anarchy would be a great show to look into after this. It's complete and all the seasons are available.

I need a 30min spinoff series, sitcom like, centered on Vault 4, it'd be so fun and quirky.

FYI, I played FO3 and FO4 YEARS ago. There is now new downloadable content available for FO4 that allows a bunch of new gameplay (eg: Nukaworld Theme Park) that is pretty reasonably priced and fairly fun. I'm presently playing my way through it and enjoying being back in the FO universe. Just in case you have a desire to return to FO4 game playing.

That's my theory that Cooper is the OG ghoul. He was sent to Vault 4 and experimented on while his wife and daughter went to the special vault for "management"

For your next series I'd like to recommend: The Expanse Andor Person of Interest (same creative team of Fallout)

As others have mentioned, the game release order is 1, 2, Tactics, 3, New Vegas, 4, and 76… although 4 initially begins on October 23, 2077, and 76 starts 25 years after then. The latest occurring game in the timeline is 4, which starts (after the PC leaves the vault) 9 years before the TV series begins.

Fallout 1 Fallout 2 Fallout 3 New Vegas Fallout 4 TV Series This is both the release order of the installments as well as the chronological order of the timeline in universe.

My theory on the vials for ghouls: 1. ghouls rot. This includes their skin, orgasn, and brains. Unchecked they become ferals. Skin, muscles are almost zombie like. 2. radiation helps them regenerate, but since not exact amount they remain feral. Or some level of feral cannot be restored, healed, brought back. 3. vials might even include radioactive water among other things, must be cheap to make since they were ready to give 60 vials for a female's organs. And ghouls consume 365 every year (if you can afford it)... The vials temporarly gives them regeneration, helping their brain to restore, but other organs too like lungs. Or hole in the neck. Only Cooper coughing when out of meds because he is shown smoking in every flashback, cigarettes and pipe, he is a chain smoker. So he have lung cancer. 200+ years later noone has access so much cigars and cigarettes, so they don't have lung cancer, so the other ghouls don't cough when not regenerating. While the shot is fresh their regen is stronger. As it dissipates it slows, stop, then they rot again their condition gets worst... fast 4. I believe they had ghouls in the organ center Super Super Markt captive because their organs are useless, but they can be sold as slaves. But such slave then needs vial regularly. Again this means vials aren't super expensive, hard to create in mass. No regular captives, they were already processed, organs taken out.

In the first 14 days it became the most watched thing on Amazon ever. Fallout 1 2 3 New Vegas 4 2076 is the order. Console games. “Why did he take medicine from a stranger”. His foot was basically falling off. And it paid off.

Have you both already watched all the Always Sunny in Philadelphia? If not would love to watch that with yall.

I'm sure you get it all the time but if you want a TV show with a nice "beefy" episode count The Wire is really, really good.

There's a theory that what Thaddeus is turning into is not a ghoul, based on what he took and the possibility that it's something from the games - if that turns out to be true, then come Season 2, he's going to wish he was.

The cooler Thaddeus put 404 in was a very retro soda vendor. I saw one for RC Cola at my church as a kid lol

As I kid in the late 70s we would walk to the gas station and i would get Nehi grape soda from a cooler like this. We would also look for empty glass soda bottles and return them at the gas station for the 10 cent deposit.

Any show can overwrite game theory, ghouls are from radiation, rarely, if just the proper amount. Here we can guess mybe the medicine included radiocative fluid the right amount and some additional stuff in the mixture, this way reproducing the effect.

If you want a good show, I highly recommend "Leverage". Five seasons about thieves and conmen stealing from worse thieves and conmen.

Moldaver would have been VERY convincing to people there, considering USA was on brink of going under martial law due to shortages of energy and riots were an everyday thing. We never see it in the show as we follow people who are well off but that's how it was.

In the games, ghouls are created from very long exposure to radiation. Maybe it's different in the show but fan theory is, that thaddeus is turning into a mutant.

@TBRSchmitt I've seen about 6 or 7 things in your reactions. In this one some extra stuff with Thaddeus playing with his radio, an extra line of dialog with norm confronting chet I dont recall. I watched it on Prime obviously. Maybe I was spacing out but I don't think so.

Theres a long running fan theory that was actually confirmed by episode 2. Theres always a german sheperd called dog meat that finds the main character in the games and becomes a steadfast ally. Even though the games are sometimes 50-100 years apart. . . The theory was (based on ingame evidence) that the "Dogmeats" were all clones or even just breed to specific standards by the enclave. . .and are actually enclave spys/assets that were sent to follow and keep tabs on important people in the wasteland. . .

The dogs are not all named Dogmeat. That is a nickname given them by a main character. And they can't be Lonesome. They aren't all the same breed.

I’m certain the supposition, by Maximus, that Thaddeus is a ghoul is wrong. I won’t say what I think he’s becoming because it could be considered a spoiler. For those who played the games, you’ll get what I’m alluding to.

I liked the first season of Orphan Black but her daughter "peanut" drove me batty. She was just a macguffin to push the story forward, like most kids in tv shows.

I am a bit surprised you guys didn't draw the link (or maybe you did and I missed it?) about the drug Thaddeus inhaled to become a ghoul being the same vile yellow stuff The Ghoul needs every day, the same stuff that brought him back to life in an IV drip hooked up by the bounty hunters, and the same stuff he was trading Lucy for at the organ harvesting place. I was yelling at the screen "you were so close!" lol. j/k But that nasty yellow juice of life seems to me - like the ring in Lord of the Rings - an allegory for heroin. The characters only need to take it once to get hooked, it makes them feel incredible the first time (literally invincible), but then they're hopelessly addicted and constantly seeking more just to stay "normal". When The Ghoul misses his dose for too long at the abandoned supermarket/organ harvesting center, he collapses due to drug withdrawal. And if a character doesn't get any for a long time, they turn into grotesque, savage monsters, unrecognizable to anyone they knew (remember Ghoul's friend Roger turning feral). It's drug addiction. Loved all your other great insights, can't wait to watch your reaction to the finale!

A great show, with a ton of seasons, that I’d love someone to react to, is ER.

Explain how exactly is it an affront to the source material. Cause Shady Sands got nuked? Guess what, already when making Fallout 2 a lot of the team felt the world is getting too civilized and they were considering similar solution to one the big cities (San Francisco for example) to keep things very much post-apo. Bad writing? It hits all the fallout beats you could expect so I'm seriously curioius what do you want. Because there are woman in it? Black guy? What is the issue?

@@DiegoSouto-fy9su Ehh, I get your point, but it's safe to assume "healing appearing" at least made some sense - med supplies in the vault for example. Also shows just need to use that "surpisingly convienent" stuff - if not Lucy would probably die due to dehydration or any kind of illnesses that living in the vault didn't prepare her body for (which is also true for any game PC that starts as a vault dweller)
