after vault 4 rebelled they stopped engineering the gulpers and started to try and reverse the genetic modifications made on the population of the original vault dwellers ( not the new residents from shady sands because they didn't come from experiments ) To me the point of vault four is a criticism of what happens when we give unregulated power to unethical scientists or worse.. company executives.

I love the vault 4 reveal. It's so funny.

20:05 I love watching new people seeing stuff like this for the first time; there's new aspects for us as well as longtime fans of the games, but it's awesome. On another layer there's a question for us in 'the know' of whether it's actually the ghoul thing, or something else... It might be the FEV.. I'll let you look that up if you want to know what I'm alluding to. Dunno if you want 'world spoilers' or not.
