Fallout's History of RobCo's Pip-Boy Personal Computers! - Fallout Lore Story
Ойындар
Fallout's Pip-Boy is kind of a big deal, being originally debuted in the very first Fallout Game in 1997, with aspects of the original Pip-Boy still being used today. This video covers the history of the RobCo Personal Computer.
Thank you to @FastWinWalkthroughs for providing game-play footage.

biometric seals were probably an aftermarket change made by vault-tec in vault 101 for whatever reason. But having two of the same model be not exactly identical is actually pretty common due to region differences. In one country you might have the exact same model of something but it has a slight change because of the region, like power adaptivity etc. So even if the model in F3 and FNV are the same, that doesn't actually mean they have to be exactly identical. "Model" really means the blueprint it is based on, rather than it's exact end-result.
I think a very simple, yet effective way to explain the PipBoy is the Vault Tec experiments. Vaults had different experiments so they might have been given different PipBoys to reflect that. Vault 101's experiment was that it was supposed to be sealed permanently. The Overseer was purposely given this "all-seeing" god status so a PipBoy being biometrically attached to your wrist would make sense. You're not supposed to leave and the Overseer possibly had direct access to monitor the Dwellers, so it's biometrically sealed to prevent anyone from taking theirs off and trying to go off the grid. Maybe it sends personal data to the Overseer so he has all the realtime information he could need. Someone dies? The Overseer knows immediately because the Overseer knows all. Gary's Vault is literally just one guy, except he's been cloned. If someone other than Gary shows up, the PipBoy's can communicate that to each other. Vault 21's PipBoy (where Doc Mitchell got his) could be taken off, possibly so it could be gambled away if someone chose to do that. Vault 13 was a control Vault, there was no experiment, so they got the PipBoy with the most functionality that can monitor the most data. Vault 111 was never supposed to have Dwellers so their PipBoys were meant solely for Vault Tec staff, who might need to open any given Vault at any given time for research purposes. Maybe each Vault got a specific model of PipBoy for a specific purpose related to their specific Vault experiment.
Only watched a couple of these so far but the quality and subject of these videos are great and extremely interesting, respectively. Keep up the good work sir :)
Hearing about the Biometric seals made my arm feel "uncomfortable". to hear about something being locked onto until you die is horrifying! D:
Nice video, you got yourself another subs
Great video
5:14 it might just be 101 having a creepier variant than others

Plausible considering vault Tek odd directives for each vault/experiments.
Christine from New Vegas' Dead Money DLC specifically states that there is a fission battery in the Courier's Pip-Boy so it has been confirmed in game for the 3000 model at least.

Thank you for your comment, because I was honestly hesitating on uploading something at 2:30am (USA, EST). Needless to say that made me feel a lot better. I hope you enjoy the video!
What about 76 ?

We don't talk about 76.

Well, Fallout 76 used quite a few assets from Fallout 4. And (from what I remember) the Fallout 76 Pip-Boy is basically the same as the Fallout 4 version. I guess since NTZ knew this, they decided they didn't have to include that version. That, or they just don't have enough experience with Fallout 76 to properly make a video on it
❤
my question still remain is.. how did the pip boy in fallout 4 reset itself? wouldn’t it have the stats of whoever we looted it from?

It could have done a diagnosis check of the wearer while booting up
