Fallout 76 Series: Episode 20: Real Life Town of Monongah, West Virginia
This is the small town in West Virginia that had the worst mining accident in United States History. I did not cover that part of the video much since one day I will do a respectful video on that in the future. This is showing the real life town Of Monongah from Fallout 76 version.
Come join me in a new side quest. I will show you the real life locations of Vault 76 gaming locations.
We will go on adventures throughout West Virginia. Showcasing the Appalachian folklore and the majestic
beauty of West Virginia. Don't forget to like and subscribe for more Fallout 76 goodness.

Hometown of my great grandparents also. If you go around the corner at the end of town that's where they lived. If my great uncle was living he could've told you about every building in town. So sad that many miners lost their lives.

It used to be a big town from the mines back in its day. Not sure if there are any active mines around there now or not.

Interesting little town. I know of it because my granddad was born there around 1930. But because he was born outside of marriage, I think he had problems with the rest of the family and moved to PA. I think there's still some distant relatives in that area.

Definitely a small town. I plan on actually going back and doing more about the mine disaster once it gets warmer. I think last Saturday it was almost 75, then Sunday it snowed. Wife is doing her genealogy and she is seeing a lot what you mentioned.

in this video just before you arrive at the bridge, is where the streetcar line used to be and the mines are off in that direction. The mines are still there, just sealed off. Before you arrived at the memorial is the town hall of the left. That street was filled with caskets. Where the memorial is located is where the hotel and the bank building once stood.

Thanks for the information. I want to eventually go back and do a rightful video on the mine disaster, I didn't feel showing off a little bit of Monongah for a video game would be appropriate to add too much about the mining disaster. I didn't want to take that subject matter lightly. I find all these historical books on the Farmington Mine disaster, but was shocked not to see one for Monongah. I didn't figure I could get close to the mines and debated about flying a drone over that area if I knew the general area.

This is a very small town. Later on I plan to do a video about the mining disaster and actually go the memorial and see if I can do it justice. I know this is the biggest mine disaster and I think less than 10 minutes away in Farmington another big mining disaster happened in 1968. It really rocked these communities. It was hard to say much for the Fallout game since this is such a small area and I didnt want to include a mining disaster for a video game to be respectful.

Monongah needs all the attention it can get. You were in my neck of the woods. I live about five miles from there. So do you like the Fallout 76 game? My son was looking forward to it but now he doesn't want the game. He says all the reviews are horrible about it.

I haven't been to Monongah in years...I really wanted to film more for the game, I really didn't want to combine the disaster too much with this video for a video game so I left it as is. I've played with about 30 to 40 people who actually play the game and only one person is really having issues online. Everyone else is having a blast playing it. I just love traveling all along West Virginia in the game. Don't get me wrong the game has a little bit of issues, but nowhere deserving of all the negativity I've seen online.

I'm also playing it. It's a good game since Fallout has a really nice atmosphere, and there is a lot to do about discovering the map and building things. It is lacking some things though : more "stories", more missions, more non-playing characters... I'd say get it for a discount price and he'll have fun. I got it for like 30 $ and it is worth it.
