Fallout 4 Guide - How to place close fences, make shops & do indoor wiring
Ойындар
Hey all - I've made another tutorial video based on some of the requests I received both on KZread and reddit. I'm sticking to about three per video (to keep them a reasonable length).
In this video I'm going to show you how to place fences/walls around your settlements that have no gaps, also how to make believable shops for your vendors and finally how to clip wires through walls for indoor wiring.
I hope you find it useful - as before if you have any requests for tutorials, please post in the comments below and I'll try to cover them in an upcoming video.

Clear speaker, good mic, no pompous-arsed channel ident, useful tips explained well... what's not to love
For a 7 year old video this information is revolutionary for me.
From the many videos that I have watched of people building in FO4, You are probably the best that I've seen thus far 🎉 even with this being a 7yrs old video 😅
My god your Sanctuary Hills is so great, I want the same. Can't believe you've been able to build all of that on console without any mod
Just a quick update comment, as people keep mentioning this; all my other tutorials are during the day. This one I shot at night as I received quite a few requests to show sanctuary all lit up (I did mention that in the video, but methinks some people missed it). Don't worry, all day-time and sunny tutorials from now on :)

great video man gonna try all this tonight. I noticed that you said you were gonna go search for the guy that works in your armour store. did you know that if you build a bell, when you ring it all your settlers will gather at the bell. it make looking for someone a lot easier

I was literally about to post that, about why this was at night. Could hardly see much of anything and I was watching this on my xboxone via KZread on it. Another point was, could you please not mumble so much in your videos as I could hardly hear you or understand what you were mumbling about. Besides these two points, I love your videos and I do find your sense of humour enjoyable to listen to, especially you saying how they're taking the piss out of you for your height. xD

Hey man just wanted so say I really appreciate you uploading videos like this they really help. I've been trying forever to make the shops look better. And FYI the floor mat glitch DOES NOT WORK ON PC!! You have to use the collision command in console commands. Console commands, type tcl, click the item you want to clip into, then tab to release it the take the item you want to clip then move it into the non clipped item. Anyway hope it helps and thanks again. Subscribed good sir.

Question, how do you even turn objects in the workshop? I know it's some kinda bumper, but... Do clarify...?
Keep up the content, helps my settlements look less shitty.
The shops look really sharp! The only downside to your videos is that after watching them, I realize what total shit my own builds are.
As a perfectionist, this video spoke to me.
"Poor man's Daniel Radcliffe" - Amazing, haha
literally the best Sanctuary settlement I have seen so far ,this is exactly what I had in mind .
Thanks for the Floor Mat Glitch. I hadn't run across that one yet, and it's SO helpful! Nice videos.
I forgot to thank you for the last video, the houses look a lot better roofed in! :D And thanks for this too, I'm building a settlement in sanctuary too and I didn't realize how much work goes into them before I saw your videos, but it's also really fun

+Crazen Heh thank you! Sanctuary is quite a time sink, but the end result is very rewarding. I apologise in advance (to everyone in fact) if you loose a few too many evenings using my tips :)

Whenever you do the build limit glitch a lot, does it affect the gameplay any?
In Sanctuary Hills I am trying to make the houses as watertight as possible so I use the Shack>Wood>Wall (actually corrugated iron) to wall off the damaged walls. With care it is possible to get it right against the damaged wall. I am also planting Mutfruit along the grass verge beside the road.
Thank you for existing man. I love the building aspect of Fallout 4...but I feel like I'm not that great at it. You not only have shown me tricks to expand upon my multiple settlements, but you have inspired me to push the bar of my design creativity. Good lookin out, hope you keep it up brother.

Placing in Fallout 4 is painful. Thank you for this video man, such relief
I'm enjoying settlement building much more after having watched your videos. Thanks for all the helpful tips!
Well I can stop pulling my hair out thanks to you! Every time a rad-storm would come through, all I could think of was the piss poor condition the roofs were in and I didn't know what to do to fix them. Now, I will bugger off and try to renovate. Thanks!
Genius idea on the shops! I'm amazed at how creative people are getting with fallout 4 settlements.
Thanks for doing these videos! I quite enjoy them. I was kind of playing straight through the game and doing the bare minimum to keep a settlement going. I built the prefab houses and threw down mats for beds. I did that until I got to level 50. So you can imagine the amount of resources I've collected. Since finding your channel and watching your vids I've really started to enjoy the building aspect of the game. I look forward to building as many of the settlements as I can. Thanks for the help and the ideas!
This is great.. I was bothered by how the fences had gaps. Thanks man
Dude, I've watched a couple of your videos and I gotta say, they are the best ones I have seen yet and I have gone through a lot of them. Outstanding tips and examples, this will help me tons. I built a small city at the drive in, probably the hard way after looking at your videos, but I did manage to create a hardware store, clothing, armor, and weapons all with selves and stock. Currently I am working on Sanctuary and your videos will be a huge help. Keep them coming.
Hard to believe this is 8 years old. I have a feeling these videos are going to get a new lease of life with the next gen update out!
Bro, this video was immensely helpful to me! I get so annoyed when things "float;" it's the worst. Also, I didn't know the magazine racks actually WORKED. Now I know. Now I know. Thank you so much!
Finally! A builder who cares about aesthetics :) Subbed!
I'm not sure if anybody else has mentioned it (too many comments to go through), but there's another way to clip wires. If you point to the wire very close to the conduit, and press the "Connect Wire" key, you'll hear the normal noise but won't see a wire. Then you can connect to any conduit through a wall, etc. Just remember to make sure that the wire is highlighted in green, or whatever color your HUD is set to, and not the conduit. There's a ton of tutorials on how to do that, but it means you don't need to use a rug or put a ground conduit in, you could put in wall ones or even terminals, light boxes, etc. The only issue with that method is that the game will decide to highlight all conduits (you did just glitch it, so hey, can't blame the developers), but just exit out of the current menu (or sometimes you may need to close the workshop), and then it'll be like normal again.
Your videos are easily the best building tip guides I have found so far. Thank you and keep up the good work
Loving these tutorials, you have single handedly, most probably saved my sanity!
there are a lot of tutorial building vids on the net, but yours are the best!! that thing with the floormat.......👍👍👍
Great video and explanation from a great friendly guy! Keep it up, your town looks truly epic and it's an inspiration for me and loads of others. Building is now much more fun in Fallout 4.
Wow, great videos! I am 33 and a complete noob at settlements, mine are sooooo ghetto. Thank you for your great advice, keep making the vids!
Thanks for making these videos. Lots of nice tricks and good ideas to work with! As much as I love Fallout 4, they definitely made the settlement system a little (or a lot, rather) finicky and very hard to work with for certain pieces. Keep up the great work!
Love your videos man. Keep them coming. You're doing an awesome job.
Loving the videos, the way you do them is brilliant, really well done and super helpful :D
I find these tutorial videos extremely helpful, thanks for doing them! :D
Very well done, informative, and an enjoyment to watch and listen to. Thanks for the tips.
Your tips are really helpful! It makes my settlements look so much nicer
This is the best sanctuary I have seen great job mate!
love your tutorials, very detailed descriptions, and your base is sooo cool looking. you should do a tour kind of thing of your settlement. subscribed
Thanks! This has helped my enjoyment of the building side of the game a lot! = ) You do a good job explaining stuff.
this is unbelievably helpful dude thank you so much your a life saver! definitely gonna share this around as I know loads of.people have these issues, especially with fences! earned yourself a new sub thanks again!
Oh my god, thank you so much! I've subscribed because of how useful the rug tutorial is! Happy Holidays David!
Thank you for this so very helpful, I am on lunch break watching this and can't wait to get home and try it out.
"Poor man's Daniel Radcliff", Lol! That's all I could hear after that. Thank you for the great videos!

@Masked_Official

+Viktor Vaughn Not really...most need cheat engine scripts or autokey mods. There is no mod to help add doors to sanctuary either. I have all these mods and it still isn't easy to do - although they are decent as you say. I honestly think the way shown in this video is the easiest way and you don't run a chance of screwing up your save using a third party esp creator.

+Fiftheenthterror It isn't very wise to install mods for a game like Fallout for a few months after release. Patches can really mess things up....and Bethesda aren't exactly "quick" with releasing patches.

Scott Norris And why are you telling me this? I know mods can damage my save. But I have completed the game twice already, So I really don't care if my save gets broken at this stage.

Whenever I assign someone to a job I equip them with clothing appropriate to that job, farm hand clothes to a farmer or lab coat for a chems vendor. Great vid as well and cool settlement, very organic looking.

Your videos are really enjoyable to watch. Can't wait for your newest stuff, I hope you get more followers.
This is an excellent tip, thanks. I've spent hours trying to get those junk fences just right.
Aaaaand now I need to start again. Thanks for the videos, really helpful.
nice job dude!! your settlement looks awesome!!
Well done. I got loads of good ideas and principles to build on going forward. Thanks.
Nice Job!~ Never thought of any of this stuff, keep up the good work!.
I know this video is a few years old by now, still very good, love it to bits :D The power is always fickle, though I usually place the conduits onto the "new roof" that you put in to fix the old dinky houses and no need to wire up through walls etc.
Great series! Keep them coming! The only negative: would have been 100% if done in daylight so we can see and appreciate it more.
Loving the videos man, keep it up bro!
Great video my friend! Helped me alot! Keep up the good work!
Still learning stuff from your vids in 2020, Davey you are to Fallout 4 what oxygen is to carbon based life forms. Best FO4 content period!
On PC you can hold E and go into a free mode where you can move the objects any way to you linking, meaning the rug glitch is unnecessary cause you can just hold e then move the shop up and it won't sink into the ground. P.S. I love the way you have your base one of the best I've seen so far.
Definitely going to completely rebuild The Castle and Sanctuary on the weekend!
Thanks for you videos :-) I'm playing on the PC and so far, the rug always worked for me. I bult a lot of things with it, without big trouble.
I cant wait to see your channel climb to the top lmao
BEST GUIDE EVER!!!!! THANK YOU NORESPAWNS THANK YOU

Very good series, Its good to see someone else actualy build settlements which look like they belong in the wasteland. Alot of the stuff i done already but still learned some good new tips. Oh and also.....i already watched your other guides and never thought about it, but now after you said it in this vid i cant stop hearing potter!!! lol sorry
oh my god dave your settlement is so satisfying to my ocd
Great channel keep it coming you're doing a great job really helpful :D
Very impressed with the aesthetics of your settlements. They look better than some of the Bethesda ones :)
BTW bro love your vids i built my sanctuary houses just like yours and made my own variations of the ones you made and learned a lot about building from you thx so much bro!!!!!
great tutorial man, also tested on pc and working perfectly :) keep up the good work man ^^
You have my sense of humour, your video's are helpful, subbedddd bruh :D
Again great tip, changed the way i build my shopping centers.
dude your videos are on point
Unlike basically all my friends, I absolutely adore building in this game. I started a new character so I could expand on my ideas, but from a blank canvas.
Thanks man, this is absolutely helpful! I was working on my entire settlement and it gets difficult figuring out what to build without console command.
Seeing your sanctuary settlement makes me so jealous, I wish I could have all the dlc and building mods. I'll just have to be satisfied with the vanilla game.
A few connectors spread around the roof will completely eliminate wires from being seen inside and even outside the house as the wires will be on the roof and you can place your generator far away in the backyard so you don't even hear them. Try it, on the roof, place 2 small pilons at around one third of the lenght of the house on each side, connect them to a generator and go place some light in your house. If you placed the pilons right, you can put lights in every rooms and they will work just fine. If you don't want to see the pilons, use the small floor connectors, you'll just need 6 of them instead of 2 but your wiring will be completely invisible.
8 years old and it's still got really fuckin good info; I've been playing since release and I never knew about that wire trick. I always used the open windows to hang upside down conduits for inside power, but that looks so much better! For my suggestion, I would put flatten the walls on the shops so you can display relevant items (OCDecorator iirc). Armor would be tough, since a lot of it is flat, but I think there are armor stands or mounts so maybe that could help? I'd personally put up some Diamond City guard armor as a bit of a posh "check out the neat shit we got here, eh??" As for a metal bunker shop, I never use those big ass, annoying metal structures, since they look so bulky and ugly; I'm 100% taking this tutorial and making a junk shop out of them. Gonna put down a fuckin pony, dumbbells, tons of obscure garbage.
Another very informative video!
u got the the making of a youtuber. keep it up great videos
O_O I was building these really basic buildings, but after seeing this..... I can do much better. Holy crap, your settlement is amazing.
Thank you for this info. I did check to see if it also works on the P.C. game and yes it dose.. sometimes. I think it worked best for me with just one big rug and if needed... only maybe a few small.( not all the rugs came with me... and not all of the time dose it work.)"'Hold in" the 'grab" to get it to hold all as one together .... being careful not to move a whole building. I like to pre-save for this reason. Thanks again for the nice and time saving trick! =)
Thank you so much for your guides!
Wow I hope this whole rug glitch thing still works after all these years (I accidentally discovered two rugs stacking earlier today and didn't realize how useful it was gonna be), but considering the reason I last stopped playing Fallout 4 was gameplay breaking bugs that hadn't been patched out in years, I feel confident that this should still work.
Amazing buildings, thanks for sharing.
great job. A lot better looking than my shops
Another Fantastic Video, Thank You kind sir.
about the floor platform hight for the store, you coulds till raise it up higher and then just attach some of the small floors to the front with stairs i guess, but it might be tricky to do the rest then, i'll probably try that out myself to see if it works =P Also thanks alot for these vids, they helped me out alot and gave me tons of more ideas for building. Im on PC and can confirm that the rug glitch so far works for fixing the ceiling and walls of the sanctuary houses, i'll try later today if the other stuff works from this vid works too. The fact that that the junk fences would not snap and always had these disgusting gaps bothered me alot, so i hope i can use of this trick too :D
Awesome. thanks for this! the internal power is great!
Great video mate.
Great video man!
I might suggest that you add lights on the front the shops. Awesome build man and merry Christmas from across the pond
Really enjoying your videos! Learning a lot, and getting some great ideas for my settlements. So I thought I'd return the favour and share a tip regarding the PipBoy flashlight. If you adjust the colour setting slightly, the HUD remains green, but the light it projects is much whiter, which helps with visibility. Cheers!
your videos are a great help man
Thank you. Just started playing again. very helpful
Apparently we made the same settlement. Down to the walkway across the street. Well done.
