Why do the squires have to carry the big bag when the knights have the power armor that can easily manage the task? This is dumb.

The turret being extremely ineffective is a huge reference from the game.

@thecrimsonkid- mk1 turrets are known for missing their target 99% of the time in Fallout games. Players learned not to bother even putting them up in their settlements. Mk5 turrets will blow your ass away in 1 second. Huge difference

I think it is a landfill. One, because of the name, two because of how the place looks (yeah most settlements are garbage, but this one felt like piles of garbage), and three because of how green and lush the environment around there was, when right outside there was all desert. Maybe the trash and such protected or fed the land enough to keep it green?

I think its both a reference to the area looking like a landfill whole also likely being a reference to fillmore which is only about 30-40 miles from santa monica where vault 33 is located. Its likely not an actual landfill. All towns look like a landfill after a nuclear fallout.

My only wish was that Eric was a part of these reactions. I was so bummed when I saw he wasn't in either of them on the preview images for the vids.

This is the first time in the many times watching this I noticed that Maximus's pistol gets hit before he starts fumbling it and loses it in the fight with the ghoul. So the ghoul actually shot it, it wasn't just Maximus being a dumbass with a gun lol

Yeah that’s honestly a great character moment. It shows the Ghouls combat smarts knowing he has nothing that can get through the power armor so he disarms it instead of wasting bullets shooting it. Maximus isn’t being stupid, but he’s slightly overconfident in his advantage in the power armor that he fumbles when something unexpected happens.

The handful that weren’t screwed up social experiments to be overseen by an Overseer, were either not designed up-to-code, or had the ‘misfortune’ of not accounting for being cracked open by outside forces (and, for that matter, were only ‘not experiments’ to be control groups against those that _were_ ).

20:15 - He didn’t miss-shoot. There is a bullet hit before it turns sideways. The Ghoul shot it just right to cause it to shoot the wrong way and then be unusable. 😊

What they did with Michael Emerson had to be intentional. 1- The episode was directed by Jonathan Nolan. 2- He was a scientist which is close to a software genius. 3- Had a German Shepperd as a companion. 4- Suffers an injury that results in him having a limp. That was just Harold Finch from Person of Interest. Would have loved to see more of him, but what a performance.

With regard to to the technology of the Fallout world, the big divergence point is that semiconductors were never invented in the 20th century. Which led to a divergent timeline. In the Fallout world, semiconductors were only just starting to come out before the bombs dropped in 2077.

This is not true. There are direct reference to transistors in Jack Cabot's terminal in Fallout 4, the Reavers in Tactics worship transistors, Fallout 76 has a miscellaneous item that is literally a transistor. This was a common theory back in the ancient NMA days, Josh Sawyer himself said that couldn't be true during the development of Van Buren, because Robots in Fallout 1 and 2 are affected by EMPs.

But they never perfected either so they never developed complex microchips aside from the larger intergated circuit boards we find in game. Ypu are right jack cabot had transistors in his posession in 2023. Like 50 years before the bombs fell. But they never advanced their tech like we did. They advanced nuclear power and had no care to minimalize tech. Instead they just build nuclear reactors and went big.

The scene with Maximus saving the dude that was fucking the chickens is so Fallout it's great. It's exactly the kind of situation you'd run into in the game, making an immediate decision without any prior information. Loved it. Also I'm pretty sure the 'bear' was a Yao gui.

Back in the last episode,one of the guys who dug up the ghoul was using a rock-it launcher. A unique weapon from Fallout 3 that uses all the random shit you find as ammo. Old books,mugs,garden gnomes,empty bottles,you name it. Just one of the many fun references.

Technically, it was the Junk Jet. The Rock-It-Launcher is made out of pieces of junk, while the Junk Jet was specifically made from scratch.

@@eatsleepgames1693 Interesting, my only experience with Bethesda is the Elder Scrolls series, which I guess is tame by comparison.

Everyone thinks maximus drops his gun accidentally but if you look, the ghoul actually shoots it out of his hand which is a thing you can do in the games, you're able to target separate limbs and even grenades flying midair

It sucks that we don't get to see Eric enjoy this fantastic series, but I'm so excited to see Aaron and Calvin's reaction to all the gore!

I cannot believe Eric is not here for this series.

6th day shoutout! That movie was on TBS/TNT every frikin weekend when I was a kid in the 2000s. Great stuff

Wilzig was from the Enclave. Which is basically what the U.S. government turned into after the war. So wilzig probably knew about the vaults because vault tec was funded by the government.

I think the people who complain about the humor, probably just did a main story run and never bothered to explore, read the stuff on terminals, pick up notes and listen to tapes or meet all the NPCs. The fallout series is absolutely loaded with humor.

I still think it's sad we don't get to see Eric react to this show. But I can't blame him if he's in a situation or something.

I've rewinded the reaction to the "aunt" comment, so many times. What a great wheeze! 😂

The Ghoul is definitely packing endgame legendary weapons with explosive rounds. He's the player after you beat the game. Lucy is the brand new noob player and I think maximus might be the idiot savant character you play for laughs on your fourth playthrough.

Some things more: 1. The Goul fight in the town was just like V.A.T.S in the game. 2. Wilzig is from Anclave (Brotherhood scribe said that). Not just a random scientist. 3. That Filly town is so similar to the Fallout 4 one with the bomb i almost cried. The Ghoul bombed my shed there. I remember byuing it. Even the bar and traders are like the same as in game.

Can we just appreciate the absolute great gore in this series? Incredible well made

Brandon actually owns one and showed him firing it, Ian talks more about the creation of the weapon it's commercial failure and it's impact on weapon manufacturers today

I like your reactions. You are both so smart and guessed a lot about the plot lines. Plus, the knowledge about the game just like mine.

The Ghoul's gun prop is based on revolving shotgun that's normally in .410 gauge. There are several companies that have a version in production, including Turkish manufactured. A REV410 is pretty close example before modifications.

One filming mistake they left in, where Cooper is reloading behind the cart and that guy with a hole in his neck slumps to his right, Cooper has a round in his hand taken from his bandelier and you can see him just rubbing it against the side of his gun because the rounds are actually too big to fit in the gun's chamber.

Okay Aaron's reactions to the neck and needle shot was hilarious 🤣

The Music in this episode is Chefs Kiss! Anyway, Walton Goggins killed it as the Ghoul! Fantastic reaction Wave Crew!

I've only played two of the Fallout games, but I'm absolutely charmed (er, if charmed is the right word for something so gory) by the series so far (we only watched episode 2 as well). I love the dichotomies; the chipper 50s aesthetic and the dark, twisted secrets, the peppy music and the mayhem. And most of all, I love Lucy's "Okey dokey!" It always makes me laugh. It especially makes me laugh that my sister makes the exact same horrified faces Lucy does every time she's faced with something horrible. So many references to the games; I really to love it.

I haven't played the games much, but I do really like the optics of the show. When the girl and the scientist were sitting in the dessert at the end and they showed the old donut shop, it looked 100% like the Fallout Wasteland.

The term Aaron is looking for is "retro future". The whole genre of "what we thought the future would be like during X era". The Jetsons are a good example. Steampunk is another. That whole "world of tomorrow", where we can somewhat imagine the tech advances, but culturally things are more stuck in place since it's a lot harder to grasp just how those things will shift.

The short explanation of the aesthetic of the Fallout world is that in this alternate timeline Microprocessors were never invented so instead of technically focusing on computing it stayed on the 1950s nuclear style. It was such a popular thing that eventually even cars are nuclear powered. The date the bombs dropped was October 23, 2077, since this takes place 219 years later the year is actually 2296. This show takes place 9 years after the events of Fallout 4.

This is not correct. Computers in the Fallout world, until Bethesda, ran on microchips. Throughout Fallout 1 and 2 you can see 80-90s looking desktops on counters. Furthermore the PIP-Boy 2000 has aftermarket parts that are composed of microprocessors. Another example is the scrap electronics and AER14 in FNV. As such microprocessors have existed throughout the Fallout series. I have already added a comment below that goes further into what advanced forearm worn computers can do. From the wiki: While microchips do exist, they are uncommon, usually only seen in highly-technological products, like super computers, artificial intelligence and energy weapons. And later, in the next paragraph: As a result, computers are far clunkier than the ones in our world and some still use monochromatic, command-line interface UI. The personal computer was developed, but due to these limitations on compactness, most models can only be used to store text files; almost all extremely advanced computers exist as large mainframes which can take up whole rooms. The users access them via terminals. Idk why people keep spreading this misinformation.

I'm really glad these guys are enjoying it! You don't need to understand the games to be able to follow the story, but it definitely enhances the hype when you understand the major players. There's usually been this unspoken barrier between the East and West coast locations, where the East coast games are made by the current holders of the IP - Bethesda, and the West coast games are made by the original creators - Interplay (later rebranded Obsidian). But if you understand the previous events of the games, you might realize the magnitude of these events in the show, as the bulk of the Brotherhood of Steel's forces in this show are brought over on the large airship called "The Prydwen" (There was a Vanity Fair article last year that falsely listed it as the "Caswennan" that has caused a lot of confusion in the community, but some shots in the tv show clearly have it printed on the side), this was the mobile command center built by the detachment of the Brotherhood that was originally sent into Washington D.C. for Bethesda's first entry, Fallout 3. Along with this detachment, they sent a child named Arthur Maxson - the last descendant of the Brotherhood's original founder: Roger Maxson, whose bloodline and name are treated with the highest respect. At the age of 16, he was appointed Elder of the East coast chapter, and under his leadership they constructed the Prydwen airship and took it to Boston 10 years later in Fallout 4, established the Brotherhood as a major power in 2 Eastern cities, and has now moved back home to the West coast in the t.v. series. To me this feels like the hype that was built up when Daenarys finally sailed to Westeros in Game of Thrones, but it's taking place as the B plot to an unrelated main quest for Lucy lol.
