I always had to get the game in just far enough it scraped the front of the game on the edge of the console for mine to play. Never really had to blow in the cartridge for them to work. I did have to use some alcohol to clean the contacts on some games i bought at a garage sale once. My friends system was the opposite of mine and we had to fold paper to wedge it in tighter to play.. funny how we had to deal with different issues to get games to play on the same system.

It is both hilarious and sad that a bunch of Zoomers likely did an eBay search...When I was young, I actually knew a lot about the culture of both my parents and grandparents generations. I knew what a butter churn was even though nobody in my family had used one for a couple of generations. I even knew how to use one if it ever came up...and it did when we took a field trip to Amish Country. I can milk a cow and ride a horse too. Young people these days think milk comes from nuts or beans and drink it while talking about being 'authentic' or 'woke' or some nonsense like that. Soymilk is about as authentic as this NES cart. I don't have a problem with it existing; hell I even drink it sometimes. But calling it 'milk' is just false advertising.

Why not 87? New hit America in 85 but that same style box hit Europe later and the u.k. twice and India twice as well. So depending on where someone is from 87 or 85 is a fine answer. Also Nintendo dominated the era so saying anything from it's launch to when people got one is probably relatable. I inferred a lot from both your post and the original, I'm sorry and have a great week!@@pooooo52

Back in the 80s, when I was a kid, my dad had developed a device that would automatically switch out the cartridges on our Nintendo NES console. There was nothing like it in existence at that time. It would automatically remove the current game cartridge and insert the next game cartridge. It would also automatically blow on the contacts to make sure they were clean! He never went to market with this great invention, and I wish he would have. It would’ve been a real game changer.

At first yes I agree but thinking of the time this took place . It would have been hard to market. Not impossible but def a ton harder and more expensive than today . Best bet would have been to probably sell it to Nintendo itself though they they might have just bought it and shelved it considering the lack of competition at the time

As someone who has been a Fallout fan since the beginning, I find this hilarious. If Vault-Tec had commissioned RobCo to make a video game console, it would surely look something like the NES toaster. But in reality, people just played games on a terminal or their Pip-Boy. The idea of a machine that only plays video games seems like it just doesn't belong in the Fallout universe, where they were still designing 1950s style automobiles in the 2070s. In a world where they never even invented Wi-fi or Bluetooth and had computers with similar specs to a Commodore 64 well into the 21st century, it just doesn't fit.

I understand a perfect 1 to 1 isn't possible, but just like Minecraft on gba has different button combinations to get around the limited button layout. Also even graphics wise, there are some isometric gba games, even if the sprites had to be super minimized, there could be a rpg style battles that shows the original characters/sprites graphics. Any kind of demake would even be cool. n if it had the same music, that'd be gold to me .

With vacuum tube components, I could easily see the NES in the Fallout universe being at least 3 times bigger, weighing 25 pounds. But, having Red Menace on that thing, I wouldn't complain.

Weirdly enough there was a Fallout game during this era just not on the NES. It was called Wasteland and I had it for the Commodore 64 in 1988. While it's not an official Fallout game it was developed by many of the same developers and Fallout is considered it's spiritual successor.

I LOVE IT. I'm 45 and still love my NES. Play it daily. Makes me sad though because both my parents got it for us kids for xmas (1990-91) and dad passed away 9 years ago. So I always have a go at the Mario series because dad loved it. Great system that kids today will never understand.

It was the early fall of 2001 I was still 17 years old and I had lied about my age to get an apartment and a full time decent job. I saved up money that whole summer to buy my first nice new PC I could game on. I bought a brand new GateWay desktop pc. The one with the cow print logo! lol but it came with special gaming bundle with 15 pretty popular games at the time. Well it came with Fallout 1 & 2 and they were the very first games I loaded. I was hooked instantly with a distraction of killing some damn rats! All my friends were still in high school and nearly every night we would party and play fall out! Some of the best days of my youth
