Thank you for the video. I really appreciate your quasi scientific method of testing both knifes vs the same challenges back to back. Great bush-craft knifes. I don't have the money to buy F1 Pro at this point, but your testing proved to me that the $120.00 I spent on the F1 is money well spent. Thank you again and have a great Thanksgiving.

Julio Amador thanks for the comment. Sorry lol just saw it had comments on my videos. But yes the only real advantage I've found the problem has is the steel sharpens up super nice! Also it's a bit more robust, but using common sense the regular f1 will do all you ever need.

Interesting and informative comparison. You have confirmed my suspicions that the pro just isn’t worth it, especially with the bolster issues some users have had. Thanks.

Both laminated in 420, edge retention should be the same. Fallkniven has the breakdown in their website steel description, just a heads up. I definitely agree on the sheath, it's excellent,; doesn't retain water, and for the weight, they're indestructible. Good review!

The outside steel is 420 true, but the inner steel, the steel that does the cutting are completely different. One is VG-10 the other is COS. Thanks for watching.

The bevel on the Pro starts much lower than the original, which starts at the top, near the spine. Because of this the Pro should be better at batoning and the original better at feathersticking. The original has a shallower edge bevel. The differences in type of steel will be seen in edge retention and ease of sharpening. I envy you in that you have both! They are great knives. Thanks for comparing the two, as they are very different.

csh 62 Thanks for the comment. I love both steels can't say one has better edge retention than the other. But I do really love the way cos Steel sharpens up.

The sheath is boring. But they deserve credit for funktionality and easy to clean and good in different weather conditions. A kydex is pretty easy to complement with. Thanks for the video

I prefer a longer thick blade for batonning. I think the F1 is more of a companion knife size for feathers and slicing. The delicate tip can be useful but seems more vulnerable if abused. So, based on that perspective, do you think the F1 desert sand the best option as a companion knife? Thanks much for the review!

David K I do not have that exact knife. But basically same as the regular f1 but with my favorite steel in the world. So yes that's what I'd go with.

I made a mistake and got A1 pro. Too thick to function well and CoS is not a very bright steel. It cost me about 600$ with shipping and tax, what a waste. I know the original is way better, specially considering the price.
