Absolutely beautiful. IU is a great story teller and inspirational.

So Palette is a response to her earlier song 23. 23 is a song about being an adult but not feeling like it and being confused about her identity, what she likes, etc. 23 also discusses the concept of idols being expected to grow up quickly and be adults with no childhood, but are also expected to be innocent and youthful in image and behavior. Palette responds to 23 by saying that she's 25 now and finally knows what she likes, who she is, and what she wants. She has found her interests, her style, and doesn't care what people think anymore, she's going to be her own weird self. GD's feature is cool cause the entire verse is a message to IU. He refers to her by name, "Jieun", and basically says "I've been there, I'm only a few years older and things are still changing. The 20s are weird, but you're strong and beautiful and you'll make it through these years just like I did". I love her song messages so much, they're always relatable and tell us exactly what she's going through and how she's overcoming her life struggles. These are very powerful, symbolic, and meaningful songs.

G-Dragon is basically the 2nd Generation King of Kpop.

Palette was the most anticipated song back then, just simply because it involved 2 biggest soloist, IU & GD. GD is the leader of Bigbang, and hes the most credited idols.

IU has a really interesting career. Unarguably the most successful pop singer in Korea of the 2010's regardless of gender. Her breakthrough single was Good Day (2010) although she started her career at the age of 15. She comes from a poor background and was rejected by the major agencies (JYP hilariously said he would fire the person who rejected IU during her JYP auditions). Initially she was typecasted into the cutesy k-pop mold (listen to Boo and Marshmello) but she "found her voice" in the early 2010's with Chatshire - staying firmly in pop but edging towards indie-pop. Unusual among artists (esp female artistes regretfully) she appears to have taken firm control over her musical direction and writes many of her own lyrics. You hit it on the head when you mention her "introspectiveness" ("23" about how she lacks identity at that age) - she puts issues that affect her into her song while addressing some wider issues. (Her song BBIBBI disses "stalker fans"). She had some controversy when it was rumored she was in a relationship with a much older singer. In her early trainee years - people called her "fat", if you can believe it. "Palette" is very much her "I am comfortable being me" song. She is very well known for her immense work discipline and philanthropy and is today, one of the most beloved celebrities in Korea (She is called the "nation's little sister") On top of all that at the ripe old age of 27 (ha ha!) she is also a respected drama actress. Her releases are pretty much guaranteed #1 hits. She isn't afraid of showing her slightly dorky side in her live streams. Her song "Eight" is rumored to be about Jonghyun and Sulli (IU and Sulli were reportedly very close friends)

She's really the best soloist. She created her own music and trying to discover other genres of music that makes her so unique to other soloist. There's always something behind her lyrics and put so much metaphors in it. You just really can't spell GENIUS without IU 👑✨💜

She is telling her fans in the song celebrity that they are celebrities on their own and that why can't they see how beautiful and unique they are . She is telling that like how her fans consider her a celebrity , she considers her fans as her celebrity .

I dont know why but whenever I listen to IU's Pallete especially G-dragon's rap part, I always cry. The part where he rap "Above 20, under 30 , In between, right there. Youre not a child, nor a child, You're just you. Thats when you shine the most, even when darkness falls around you, dont be scared. You’re so beautiful that your flower will bloom You’re always loved, you" and then Jieun finished it with "I got this, I'm truly Fine, i think i know who I am a little". This is our young adult song where we still finding who we want to go, to be, or just who we really are. When the dark days come, especially when i dont know anymore myself, i just listen to this and it reminded me to be okay and just continue. IU's songs always hit our hearts and be reminded to love ourselves.

If you want some of her older iconic songs, then I suggest “Good Day” and “You & I”. But if you want the upbeat catchy IU songs then I suggest “Bbibbi” and “23”. I also suggest her “Above the Time” its kind of connected to “You & I”.

I read "You & I" and I was instantly reminded of EXO's Whisper Challenge in The Knowing Bros where Chen said "You & I" and Chanyeol answered, "IU!"

IU's "Palette" album in 2017 has probably the best collection of ballad songs I can think of, and I absolutely recommend listening to the entire album even though not all have MVs. dlwlrma and Jam Jam are fun masterpieces, while Can't Love You Any More is another impactful collaboration; Dear Name, Through The Night, Ending Scene, and Full Stop all make you bawl.

The song is a love song to her fans, telling us that we are special in her eyes, and that WE are her celebrity. It asks us to know that we are loved. It’s a request to love ourselves. The MV, however, is the illustration of her journey of how she herself came to love herself. In the beginning she looks uncomfortable in the spotlight and she’s shown to be lonely in a crowd that’s faceless and anonymous. It’s constantly shown how she sees another version of herself, who is a stranger to herself. In the end, she follows this stranger/IU, only to find a mirror. It’s symbolic that this person she has been chasing all along was inside her all along. It’s a journey we’ve had a peek through her songs like 23 and Palette. Once she realized this, she’s able to smile in the spotlight, rather than feeling like she needs to hide from the press she was hiding from earlier. The message is poignant, in the wake of losing so many of her friend. She’s imploring her fans to love and cherish themselves as she’s learned to do herself.

IU's "Knees, Unlucky, Love Poem, Lullaby, Dear Name and Through The Night" lyrics are really comforting too. She has many songs. I've been a fan since watching her drama Moon Lovers. Amazing Singer-Songwriter, Producer and Actress.

IU, AILEE and HYORIN are the SOLOIST QUEENS DURING THAT TIME. HYORIN (sistars main vocal) is known as the beyonce of korea, ailee is the Diva and IU is the nations sister, they all have unique voices and they all part of Kdrama called “Dream High” where most of 2nd gen Kpop fans started stanning. The show got so famous all over asia and marked as ONE of the beginning of hallyu wave overseas. Its a highly recommended drama. The drama is star studded by famous idols from that time and still one of the greatest kdramas out there. PS: IU is in “dream high” while hyorin and ailee is from “dream high 2” and I saw you’ve reacted to T-ara recently, and they are in both dream high and dream high 2

Hello, I'm really enjoying your EXO videos. FT Island is an actual k-pop BAND where the members play instruments while performing. The group debuted awhile ago when they were really young so are still young. They've always been called an idol group because of their visuals and charm despite not being able/willing to dance. The lead singer, Hongki, is known for his powerful and emotional voice. Lee Hongki has one of most distinct voices in k-pop. The minute he opens his mouth, everyone knows it's him. He was on Korea's Masked Singer show and both times he was recognized instantly. LOL Hongki is a fashion trendsetter and he even wrote a book about nail art way before it was popular. He's also a great actor and started out as a child actor. FT Island has a more rock sound and their power ballads are intense so they're really popular in Japan. Would you mind taking a look at their most recent MV? Hongki recently served in the military with EXO's D.O. and Xiumin. I honestly have yet to see anyone not be impressed with his voice during a first listen. FNC Entertainment became one of the top 5 agencies due to FT Island. There wouldn't be a FNC Entertainment without FT Island; no AOA, No SF9, no CN Blue, no N. Flying, etc. FNC is also the agency for Yoo Jae-Suk (Korea's most famous/popular MC), Jeong Hyeong-don(former Weekly Idol MC ) and a number of famous actors. oh, and abt IU's genre, you will be surprised on how diverse she can be XD I mean she has like 1 full album on jazz/swing and 2 remake mini album on folks genre. Her 2 most influential songs are different too... Good Day basically is a pop orchestral song, but Through The Night is a personal-sincere love slow ballads ;p

I think you're spot on about the self-love message of Celebrity! IU has actually been talking about self-love a lot in interviews this last year. She said she's learned the difference between ego/self-centered mindsets and self-love mindsets and is working personally on loving herself more. I love how transparent she is with these things, even people who don't know anything about her can figure it out from her music, which I think makes her so authentic and inspiring. Her story has been one massive rags-to-riches tale, but she still reminds us that she's human and goes through the same struggles that any person would, especially when their life is under scrutiny.

G-Dragon is one of the first idol to go against the previous trend and started a new trend, "self-producing idols". You should check out "Haru Haru" & "Lies" from Bigbang, you will like it!

She mentioned in her interview with her brother that this new album will be themed around her 20’s -this song hinted at her awkward start, walking a different path from the Kpop normalcies. And she found herself and became truly comfortable with who she is and what she’s become while still being herself. I find it encouraging, almost empowering. It’s okay to be ourselves, and we’ll always be “celebrities” in her eyes.
