Some facts out of many, many, many: 1) The movie events take place in 1991 (it is not directly stated in the books, but can be calculated). 2) While designing the Dursleys' house, the creators intentionally selected the ugliest furniture they could find - to increase the impression, so to say. 3) Pay attention to the street view before Uncle Vernon warns Harry about the "funny business". All the houses and cars look the same, because here, nothing weird is tolerated. 4) When Harry's scar hurts before the Sorting Ceremony, it's because Quirrell is standing with his back to him (and, correspondingly, Voldemort facing him despite being hidden). Also, when Hermione sets Snape's cloak on fire, it is clearly shown that Quirrell trips and falls, breaking the eye contact and therefore releasing Harry's broom. Ravenclaw here, by the way

I’m sure even more baffling for Harry is that everyone is treating him kindly/with respect. He’s so used to the Dursleys, that’s a huge change. The books add so much to the movies. Hermione, for example: she comes from a nonmagic family, and she was so excited to find out that she was a witch that she read all of her school books before going to Hogwarts. That’s why she knows all the answers to the questions.

My favourite piece of trivia about this movie is that for the Chess scene, they asked IM Jeremy Silman to construct a puzzle where Ron's move sequence genuinely led to checkmate, and he did. But more than that. He made a puzzle where there were 2 forces checkmate sequences. Ron didn't have to sacrifice himself. But the only other way to win would have sacrificed Harry. Ron not only chose to sacrifice himself so they could win the game, but he chose to sacrifice himself knowing that there was another way to win Unfortunately, the movie never gives you enough of a wide shot of the board for you to see any of this. But the puzzle is easy to find online. There are even youtube videos about it from chess channels

The movie skips a bit about how the Hat chooses. In the book, there's a song it sings that explains the houses. Gryffindor prizes courage, Ravenclaw prizes intelligence, Hufflepuff prizes hard work and fairness, and Slytherin values ambition and cunning. Some kids are apparently easy to sort, others, it has to deliberate on. It was Gryffindor's hat to begin with.

I think the reason Hermione knows so much is because both of her parents are Muggles, or non magical people, so she feels like she has to work harder to prove herself. There are some at Hogwarts who believe that only those who come from purely magical parents should be allowed to practice magic or attend Hogwarts. Like Voldemort, or anybody in Slytherin.

Some truth, although being intelligent and well-researched, even a know-it-all, was her personality even before knowing about magic. In the movies she also was given a number of Ron’s lines, I’m not sure why. There’s a lot he knew simply by growing up in that world that she couldn’t have, and it made him look like an idiot, which he wasn’t, and her like she was a superhero, which she wasn’t. She often panicked under pressure and did things wrong, for example.

We bought our kids Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans when they came out with the film. These are the potential flavors in each box: banana, black pepper, blueberry, bogey, candy floss, cherry, cinnamon, dirt, earthworm, earwax (alas!), grass, green apple, marshmallow, rotten egg, sausage, lemon, soap, tutti-frutti, vomit and watermelon. Contents are randomly assorted and may not contain every flavor. We read all of the books as a family. Best memories for all of us. Now my eldest son is reading the series with our grandkids. I'm reliving it again through them.

@@nickreacts6394 hey Nick, I don't know if you've read in some of the other comments or not. But some of them are saying you reacted to Harry Potter already before you changed your channels name. I also assumed you had seen this before. But it's been so long, I forgot. But I was actually under the impression that you had seen it and your girlfriend was the one watching it for the first time. I just thought you should know. And perhaps address this before it escalates and people lose trust in you telling the truth that you have not seen something before. As for me, your one of my favorite reactors and I didn't mind if you've seen this before. I would of still enjoyed watching it with you and your girlfriend for her first time. But I hope that the titles are clear and if you react to a movie you e already seen before and your girlfriend has not yet seen it before. Then I hope you will say it's your girlfriend's first reaction. And that you've seen this before and any future movies you watch. That being said I enjoyed y'all's reaction and I think your girlfriend is adorable and I'm so happy she had an instant love for Harry's friends. I only wanted two make sure you were aware of some of these comments so you could address them before they continue and get worse. Since I can't say 100% that I remember you watching it before you changed the name of your channel, I'm staying out of it and won't say either way. But I just wanted to let you know cuz I don't want you to lose any followers. Anyway, I hope you have a blessed day and I'll be tuning in to watch your other Harry Potter reactions. Especially friends. This has been a wonderful journey seeing you react to older shows and movies that came out when I was a kidnor teenager.

Welcome to the HP experience guys, I hope you'll enjoy it, I'll be following you through this journey! A few points you should be aware of: 1. This is easily the most children's story-like, the most lighthearted. Firstly because it's meant to be our introduction to this world through Harry's eyes. Just like him, we arrive into the magical world as outsiders and we discover it at the same time with him. Also, because the main characters are 11. But as they grow, the story becomes much, much more serious and dark. It will deal with the most essential questions of life, death, love and power in an almost brutally honest way. 2. The movies never make it clear, but there's a lot more to magic than just a wand and a spell and having magical abilities. The character, intentions and mental focus of the witch or wizard matters a lot. 3. Yes, Voldemort can "read minds" - or at least that would be our muggle's way to put it. 4. Yes, this school is dangerous and it's supposed to be dangerous. Being magical means extra power, which means extra responsibilities. It's a whole different world with very different rules and norms. And when it comes to Harry himself - let's just say for now that there is a very good reason for everything. He should face some dangers and adversities. You'll understand why at some point. 5. There are rues to magic. It's not like anything is possible, that wouldn't yield a good story. Think of magic as an alternative physics with it's own laws and rules, possibilities and impossibilities. 6. You know that they built a great world when you watch it and you wish it really existed, even if you, as a muggle could never be part of it!

Something you’d best be aware of. Catching the snitch is in fact NOT automatically an instant win for whichever team does such. It MERELY ends the game. While rare, it is ENTIRELY possible for a team to catch the snitch and still lose.

So about the houses, each house represents a different virtue or trait. Gryffindor is bravery, Slytherin is ambition, Ravenclaw is intellect and creativity, Hufflepuff is kindness and compassion. And yes, they do have ways of enforcing the no magic outside of school rule, they have magic haha! It becomes relevant later on a few times.

The reason most muggles don't see magic happening around them is sometimes attributed to protective spells having been places on objects or places so that regular none magical folks (muggles) can't see or notice them. For example, Hogwarts is a massive castle located in the highlands of Scotland. But when muggles come across it they only see old ancient empty castle ruins. If muggles find themselves getting too close to it then suddenly the muggles will start to think they have someplace important they have to go to that they previously forgotten about. In rare other cases when a muggle happens to witness magic by mistake, the local wizarding government called The Ministry of Magic will come and magically erase that particular memory from the muggle's mind. Certain cases are allowed only to a certain extent, like in the case of a wizard or witch having been born from a muggle family or is being raised by a muggle family like Harry and the Dursleys for example. But even then the wizarding child is not allowed to perform magic even in front of their muggle family even though their muggle family members know about their relative being born a witch or wizard and that they attend Hogwarts. The Wizarding communities consider it vital that their existence remain a secret for their protection incase for example muggles decide to bring back the witch trials and start burning wizards at the stake again among many other reasons as well. 🏰🪄
