Falling 10,000 Feet: The Miraculous Survival of Juliane Koepcke

Juliane Koepcke is a German-Peruvian biologist and researcher who is famous for surviving a plane crash in 1971. At the age of 17, she was the sole survivor of the crash of LANSA Flight 508, which disintegrated in mid-air over the Peruvian rainforest. Despite suffering a broken collarbone, a gash to her arm, and an eye injury, she managed to survive 11 days alone in the jungle before being rescued by local lumbermen. Her incredible story of survival has since been the subject of books, documentaries, and interviews. Koepcke's experience has also inspired her to become a biologist, dedicating her life to the study and conservation of the Amazon rainforest.
