Fall Kayak Fishing! This POND Has GIANT Largemouth!

Спорт

We're exploring a new pond and it doesn't take long to find out there are BIG BASS lurking in these waters! When you pull up to a new lake (pond) and they're eating swimbaits, frogs, and punch rigs, you know you've found a special place! Come along for a day in the kayak as we break down a new fishery, adapt to changing conditions, and catch some really nice bass!
Matt starts the day with a big rat wake bait when he sees the flooded shoreline but soon realizes he's missed the window for this bite by a couple days. He falls back to some of his reliable favorites (frog and chatterbait) to build momentum, then switches back to a swimbait in search of a kicker fish. It works!! Once the bite comes to a halt you see the wheels turning as Matt adapts and finds a final method to get the leery midday bass to bite.
Below you'll find links to the exact baits Matt used throughout the day. We've included the colors, sizes, as well as the rods and reels he had on the kayak. We'll also include links to his life jacket and kayak so you're prepared when you head back out on the water. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Loved this video Matt! Great to see you on the yak. What I really liked is the way you are able to find the fish after the bite turns off. I struggle with this… it’s incredibly deflating when you know they’re there but can’t buy a bite. Tight lines and please keep the kayak content coming!

Amazing to see you prioritizing your life jacket over fishing. I’m 14 and lost one of my buddies because he didn’t wear his life jacket. It’s extremely important and glad you set an amazing example for your viewers. Wish more people would just take the extra time to do something that might save them more time.

The info given on where the fish are located,, how they behave and changing conditions is some of the most useful content you've done, less emphasis on gear and more on analyzing the situation. Well done!

Just so you guys know, I believe you guys know where I’m talking about but I’ve fished a few times at a private pond just north of Fairfield California. It’s actually a part of the Vallejo Water District. I have once again put in to fish there again and I’m almost certain that it won’t be a problem again but I think it would be awesome to fish with you on this spot. Personally I’ve pulled a few five pounders and once caught a six and a half pounder out of there. I’ve actually had one bite and take off with my line without stopping and just stretched it until it snapped. I was fishing with twelve pound test that was in pretty good condition. Anyway I’ll be back in the North Bay… including the Delta and Clear Lake and of course Lake Berryessa.

I've heard that inflatables don't work well in colder waters. I know you mentioned the water is still warm so no problem there but it is something to think about. I guess when it gets cold the c02 cartridge doesn't act the same and fill up as much or sometimes at all.
