Glad I found this. My mom grew up in Vermont, on the other side of the interstate in Waterbury. We used to visit my grandparents for two weeks every August. Went to Smuggler's Notch in Stowe one time.

I know you can make a reservation to eat dinner there even if you’re not staying there! So in that sense yes you can eat there and walk around and enjoy the views and fire pit etc :)

Yeah it can definitely get pricy in peak fall months! We booked our trip about six months out and saved hundreds of dollars on a rental car that way. You can also usually find bundles or deals through travel sites :)
