Excellent video and you have explained how to make them very clearly. Just a quick question, would these size anklets and jesses fit a male redtail with a flying weight of 2 lbs? Thanks

Missed out the most important part, (for me) putting the grommet in.

I welded the grommet punch piece to vice grips and I just crimp them on. I hope that helps

I'm hoping these will be applicable to Macaw parrots, I train Macaw to fly free outside, I'd probably have gotten into falconry but for the hunting, it's my belief if you're going to share your life with anything you need to help that life be as close to natural as possible, birds need to fly they can't be healthy, I honestly think all ornamental macaws stuck in a cage 30plus years them never getting out cod no one understands them nor cares enough to try, our one free flyer ATM is in fantastic shape he's definitely the fittest Macaw in Ireland, but I took in one of those ornaments I spoke of, I've had him to weeks and got a fast crash course in will he be able to free fly and I reckon he'll do amazing with my younger birds help, if you would be interested in seeing him at his best there's a few videos here on KZread, a lot more on tiktok and I'm useless at remembering to put some on KZread, but I had this new bird out Sunday, he was clipped in hid 1st year learning to fly any time after that 1st year can be very difficult for some, others are just birds and will fly buy it still takes time to learn stuff like decent the new bird barney has 0 decent skills I know this cos his harness snapped last Sunday and he got so stuck in a tree the worst part was he still had some of the harness on , I was terrified he'd hang himself but he blew my mind with how careful every step he took pulling the harness along part by part then checking everything was free n safe b4 moving again, he took 8 flights from tree to tree then 3 days 2 nights of me sitting under a tree calling barney his last flight took him straight back to where he started so his mapping skills seem better than my younger bird but I've always felt like that comes with age, but his last flight took him to the start where he landed on a branch beside a building where he was able to get on a wall where I finally got a firm hold of him, I'm very lucky I had built a great bond with him in 2 short weeks, he seems to have learned I'll never leave him but I also made him a promise I'd never put another harness on him and I'd like to keep to that so anklets and Jesse's are my plan, have you ever heard of anyone youding them for Macaw both my birds are a little over 2lb no clue what that is in grams. I've no even clue how to put them on, I guess it's another KZread search for that, thank you for this one, I was looking at ordering some but I need them like yesterday my aviary is being redone and it's hot out so I need to be able to take the rescue out with me..great channel Subscribed ❤ from Ireland 🇮🇪

I can't see why they wouldn't work on a Macaw as long as the size fits but you can always adjust the size accordingly. Thanks for the information

Got them made and done more research and tests, there foot can slip out, there feet are very different, but I'm stuck today both have to come to a funeral so the trained with in a inch of his life will ware 1, I think I'm making them a bit bulky but I'd die if it failed, but at least if something does go wrong it won't get tangles in branches ..again thanks
