    Phil, I just want to thankyou. As a result of your review we bought this and have to say its the best money we've ever spent. For too long we tethered our phones etc which worked well until we stayed at Finchale Abbey. Surrounded by trees, in a valley, signals were very on/off. This is amazing. Everything you mentioned is true, its a stunning piece of kit. Thanks to you for a very informative, thorough review. 5*

    Hi Phil and Juliet. Thanks for bringing this video and product to us all. The same as you, I use my phone to tether my TV and laptop or tablet. It's a pain. a lot of the sites we use in the south here are very weak on WiFi, and like you said, expensive 😮 really looking forward and interested in your review of this product in a few months' time. Cheers, Paul and Sarah

    Excellent review Phil - I recently bought similar due to poor tethering from phone. Talking about the faraday cage effect I found signal when tethering was worse if not non existent when caravan closed up and blinds down. Our blinds are reflective foil coated and when pulled down made the van almost a sealed metal box ! Thanks for all the uploads much appreciated H

    Hi Howard. I am glad you had issues with an inside device like me if that makes sense. I am sat in the caravan as the video was recorded on Thursday just gone. The blinds in our van are foiled backed as well hence a poor signal. I am answering this comment sat in my dressing gown in the van, Juliet is getting mad as she wants me to pack up to home😂. An outside device is a must. Thanks Phil👍🙂

    Good video and well explained. As there is no guarantee of getting a signal especially in some parts of Wales then this obviously won't work unless I'm getting this wrong. We use our phones hotspot on 3 and in general it's very good and coupled with site wi-fi its ok for us. Anyway thanks.

    Hi. I think there is no guarantee with any wifi device in terms of signal. However i suppose it comes down to cost, this device is cheaper than others yet it has the same capabilities as most of the more costly devices. I have found it not to be an issue so far. We will be testing it throughout the year and will give our full findings in our end of season product review. Thanks Phil🙂👍

    Looks an excellent product Phil 👍 and the 100GB for £30 is it per month ? Would prefer not to have visible cables, I suppose that can be easily sorted. We use our phone personal hotspot tethering for the table and 9 out of 10 times we don’t have a problem. As Howard B says when the blinds are pulled down it sometimes acts as a faraday cage. By the way the site looks nice 😀 can I ask where it is ? Cheers, Rob & Gail

    Hi Rob. Thanks for watching. The sim I bought cost £20 on an Amazon deal. I understand it lasts a month then needs topping up. There are plenty of other offers out there. Some folk feel the faraday cage is nonsense but like Howard we have foil back blinds to and it does weaken the signal. The site is Pipers Height near St Anns at Lytham. Many Thanks Phil👍🙂

    Suckshion cups are a good idea as can just stick the rougher to a window facing the direction of the mobile transmitter. Making it easy to fit and remove, and as it's on the inside you are not going to drive off and forget about it!

    Hi Gavin. Yes the suction cups are very good. It can be used inside as you have already tried. I found the signal dropped inside but it could have been the area. Still using it as I have not found a better alternative without drilling holes in the roof. Thanks Phil🙂👍

    Interesting review, I was quite interested in this at the start of your video. However, a few bits I don’t like the idea of. The antenna and 4g router are combined eight it being designed to be kept outside on the van I think older metal caravans will still struggle with quality of signal. Also, being outside it don’t seem very secure it wouldn’t take much to steal and that leaves someone with your sim card etc but also having the SSID etc under the flap makes this device quite vulnerable again that’s probably me over thinking. The price is interesting though for £199 I would expect more really you could buy a separate 4g router for £70ish and connect an external antenna with suction cups if you didn’t want to put hole through cheaper than the total cost of this and would have better security. Sorry I sound negative, but a good review on your experience of using it

    Hello. Interesting thoughts. I think with this device Falcon were aiming at a simple router for folk who are not as tech savy as me or you. Regarding security as it a suction cup device it would take a few seconds to remove and place inside your van. I recorded this video this weekend and I am using the router to reply to you now. I tried using my phone inside the van (which is composite) and the signal was reduced beyond full use. My phone could not power my Tv 's Netflix. You could buy a cheaper device from Ebay or Amazon however I have you tried returning items when they are broken or are not as intended, its not easy waiting for a refund etc. I chose to review this device as Falcon have been around years and I know they have a great returns service. So I suppose it comes down to choice really. I hope this sounds ok I don't want to sound funny. Many Thanks Phil🙂👍

    Morning Phil, this might sound a bit daft but here goes, if you have the Falcon WiFi switched on and your phone switched on and synced but you aren't surfing the net does this situation use any of your data allowance on the prepaid SIM? Thanks for posting 👍

  • @lostweekendscaravan

    Hi Howard. If I have this right. If your phone is synced to the Falcon Wifi. Your phone will use the data as your phone is always data roaming. It would not be much data used. I tend not to tether my phone to the falcon. I use it for my Mac Book whilst away which bugs Juliet😂. Hope this makes sense. Thanks Phil🙂👍

    Faraday effect is not really applicable to caravans; if it was, you wouldn’t receive any 4G signal. 4g antenna outside the caravan is better than external as this is, however this has the opposite problem of having the Wi-Fi transmitter outside your caravan. This is a budget / basic router which doesn’t really offer anything better than an insider 4g router. Max view roam and Avtex AMR985 are the ones to go for. This falcon looks like a cheap and untidy bit of kit to me. If you don’t change your SSID / password anyone has access to it 😀

  • @lostweekendscaravan

    @lostweekendscaravan

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi SE. Maxview and Avtex might be a better products but the are expensive and most require holes to be drilled. Yes the password can be changed I have changed it already. I think for someone who wants wifi quickly and at a lower price point this does the job. The blinds in our van are foil backed and when closed the signal drops on internal devices hence the faraday effect. But at the end of the day it comes down to persnal choice. We just like to show whats available out there. Thanks for commenting and watching. Phil👍🙂
