More recently his team has been struggling to even be able to compete due to DDOS attacks. I don't always agree with TB Skyen's points, but he absolutely nailed it with this one: DO NOT validate this kind of business practice with your money. Because what Riot is doing is testing the waters, to see how far they can push players' boundaries -- either so that they can release an _even more_ expensive skin later down the road, or so that they can lower the price of this to something like $250 (still outrageous for a skin) so that they can smugly say "We've listened to the feedback".

The irony in all of this is a signature skin for the one Pro-Player that is FAMOUS for **NOT** using skins at all! al then jack up the price from a 4 digit number RP skin to a 5 digit one, its insane! I was very hyped about this HoL skin and the celebration around the infamous unkillable demon king..... this is not a celebration. Remember this comrades, if you give in and buy this, Riot will try to normalize these things in the future and make us pay more for them. Those like the finished animations, like in URF but will be a thing in all gamemodes. If I ever want to donate to Faker, I will just do it on his stream instead of buying such a thing that cost me 500$ but Faker barely gets 5% from that.

Riot immortalized Ahri alright... as the first ever skin to ever so blatantly scam its fans and players without an ounce of guilt. Even without being a fan of Faker, I feel terrible for those who've idolized him for many years of playing League, being unable to honor their favorite player with "his" signature new skin because Riot decided that money was more important than their players' respect.

Banning the champion isn't enough for me. The people who bought the skin are the ones who should be punished. As a jungle main if I see my midlaner with this skin equipped I am going to hold my F3 key and just right click them for the entire game. I'll throw away my precious and hard earned elo to make sure they have a bad time.

It's actually sad how I have to spend 500$ to fully celebrate Faker's reign. League of Legends skins used to be saving money to buy them for me. Pulse gun Ezreal was the best example, where it was over my 25$ allowance, so I had to save for 2 months. However, 500$ is a whole different issue. Not only does it fundamentally go against Faker's mindset of not using skins, it rejects Faker's mindset that "The rich need to give to the poor". He once directly said in a stream that they shouldn't donate to him, that donating is what rich people like him. 500$ is over some people's monthly WAGES. For a single-game cosmetic (well I know there's more in the package) this is over the top (for a Riot game). Riot is also doing a 70:30 share with Faker, so are they using Faker's legacy, creating a skin, and taking 70% of the revenue? Is this truly celebrating Faker, or is this using Faker? It's also limited and will never appear again, forcing people to buy it. This will be yearly. YEARLY. A YEARLY CASH GRAB WITH RIOT 70:30 PLAYER FOR A CONCEPT WHERE RIOT USES THE PLAYER'S LEGACY AND FANBASE TO EARN MONEY, PRESSURIZING THEM TO BUY A SKIN WORTH A LOT OF PEOPLE'S MONTHLY WAGE SINCE IT'S LIMITED AND NEVER APPEARING AGAIN. CRAZY

Not to mention that selling the skin exclusively in a bundle is ILLEGAL in many countries in the world such as Brazil. If this skin releases with these prices exclusively in a bundle, we will probably be seeing legal action for many countries similarly to what happened on overwatch 2's release with their shop. This is abusive practice. For those interested in Brazil's specific law - Article 39 of the CDC( Defensive Code of the Consumer) Suppliers of products or services are prohibited from, among other abusive practices: "I - Condition the supply of a product or service on the supply of another product or service, as well as, without just cause, on quantitative limits." ( selling the skin exclusively in a bundle, knowing that they normally sell similar items as separate products in their in-game shop ) ... "V - Demanding clearly excessive benefits from the consumer." ( the ABSURD price of the skin, knowing that they have sold items with similar value for around 25$, ultimate skins, setting a standard ) and possibly more that i'm not aware of.

You mention in this video that Faker gets 30%. That's not correct. T1 gets 30%, as in the entire team. Faker himself is likely seeing much less than that ( which doesn't really change anything abou the situation, just makes it even worse.) EDIT: MY BAD, FAQ does specifically say "Yes, the 2024 inductee and some LoL Esports teams will earn 30% of gross revenue from the Hall of Legends event.". Maybe that got changed, either way super my bad.

And even worse still it's a timed thing so it means that once time is up you can no longer get the skins, not skin, skins, AND they will not be included in the rerolls system, meaning if you have 3 skin shards to reroll for a permanent skin, when you go to reroll them, none of these skins will appear at all, a flat 0% chance of getting them. Not even in "Your Shop" will it appear. This is as FOMO as FOMO can get.

I couldn't believe it in my eyes. I 1st heard of this skin in a Meme video and didn't believed it, then I started researching for it on KZread. The thing gets more absurd when you check the prices in other countries. While your American avarage teenager with some part time job would be able to afford the 500$ bundle, in Brazil will cost around 1400BRL, almost a full minimum wage before taxes. There is adults who live off this amount of money on a monthly basis.

I still can't believe riot is talking about how they won't do ultimate skins on a scale like Elementalist Lux due to consuming lots of memory (I don't know if it's RAM or data size) but if it's about RAM Memory, that's bullshit, 10 Elementalist Lux One For All most likely exists, no way it's going to be impacted that heavily by ram, + League already increased their recommended specs years ago. If it's data storage, modern games are large enough already, making 5-10 shitty epic skins a month will most definitely increase file size much more. than 1 elementalist lux-like skin

I don't remember people having issues with Elementalist Lux, it was a pretty big step up from previous ultimate skins. You got what is essentially 10 skins, all with different models, VFX, and voice-overs that you could change into through a "minigame" during the match, all that for around $25 USD. This whole situation with the Ahri skins is actually even more hilarious when you remember that Elementalist Lux is a thing. The Ahri skin is basically an NFT, it's expensive because someone decided it is, not because it's actually worth that value, not even close.

I mean, it's really a prestige and a luxury to have a name and signature of the most famous e-player under a skin. It's not meant to bring comfort and commonality and the rarity makes it even more special. If this is a basketball signed by Michael J. it's the cheapest one. Plus Faker and T1 has 30% revenue

​@@addysaster176 Ehh, that's true, I have heard that some people go crazy over signatures, though I personally don't understand it; even more so in this case where it's not like Faker actually physically signed a piece of merch or something, they just took his signature and pasted it all over the skin. And the rarity aspect is completely artificial, this is digital goods, there's no actual scarcity. You can do the same by making a picture of a poorly drawn dog in Paint and say that it's worth $500, sure, it's a rare piece of digital art, but it doesn't actually get any value for being rare like a painting from the renaissance of which there are only a few in the world does.

For roughly the same price you can buy the Spirit Blossom Kindred figure from Riot. It is a physical item that you can actually keep in your house and display, and it won't vanish from your life once League of Legends finally reaches end of service. In fact, its value may actually increase after that point as figures are naturally collector's items. Unless you literally quit League and manage to sell your account before then, buying this skin is tossing $500 into the void (and that's assuming they don't just rerun it on sale down the line)

Something not really mentioned is that there are no cheap alternatives to these skins. Sure the $200 skins and prestige skins are really expensive, but they are all slightly alternative versions of their base skins. But the cheapest buy in price is $50 for what is a realistically a $15 dollar skin. I don’t even play Ahri but shit like this is just angering, would loose my shit if it happened to Aatrox.😊

The difference is that you can sell those skins for cash again, this league skin is forever kissing your money goodbye, you could try to sell your account but you will only get a fraction of your money back

I recently removed LoL from my PC 'cos of the Vanguard anti-cheat (kernel-level anti-cheat is horseshit and I refuse to leave my network vulnerable to hackers [yes, it does leave it vulnerable. Do your homework haters/Riot fanboys]) and seeing this abomination of a skin package really rammed home my decision. I am done supporting a company that is appalling in its treatment of its customers and I was a big RP spender during my heyday of the game. Too much to think about, really. Braindead take. Skin pricing is absurd in CS and DotA. However, they at least have the argument that it's decided by a player driven market, you can sell the skin on the market to recoup part of the cost (or maybe profit if the price rose), trade it for something else you want, or cash it out get real money for it.

I genuinely thought you would bring a comparison with DOTA2's latest update, where Valve went the exact opposite way, listening to the players.
