Really love this song. Other emotional Faith Hill songs with strong vocals are "When The Lights Go Down", "Where Are You Christmas", "There You'll Be" and "It Matters To Me".

"Back to you" is my favorite from this album

This won her her second Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance-the first being "Breathe" back in 2000. I have loved this song ever since it premiered on MTV. This song always taps into my emotions and her voice just resonates with emotions. She is a phenomenal vocalist, and she sounds so different comapared to other country vocalists.

Her song "There will come a day". Her vocals are amazing

Faith is awesome. Her vocals are amazing.

I met Faith in person back in 93 shortly after her debut album came out, and before she really hit it big. A radio station in Florida was sponsoring a concert, and she was one of the featured artists. She couldn't have been any nicer, sweeter, or more down earth. I instantly became a fan of her, even beyond the talent. Some of my favs from her are; "It matters to me" "A man's home, is his castle" "Wild One" "Let's go to Vegas" "I can't do that, anymore" and "Mississippi Girl". To name a few. 🤠

Btw I didn’t like the “all arms” about Breathe… She had a coach to do those hand movements.

Fait's voice is outstanding. She & her hubby Tim McGraw are both amazing. They have some great duets like 'I need you' & 'It's your love' for a couple examples. They also star in a western tv show called 1883. A prequel to Yellowstone.

Cry is Faith Hill's most pop album in her career and even though it didnt do as good as Breathe and made her realized its time to go back to more country music, its still a really good album to me with a lot of great songs here with catchy lyrics on a lot of them. This song really showcases her knack for using her vocals for infusing emotions in the lyrics. Good review! Cannot believe she's been in this industry since the 90s. Quite a journey for her then and now!

I completely understand what you're saying about the power of music. One of my favorites is Josh Groban. He sings alot of songs in Spanish, Italian etc, and I have no idea what he is saying. However, I connect to the passion of his vocals. I don't need to understand the lyrics, to feel the message. My favorite example of this is his songs, "Per Te" and "Alejate". Such beautiful melodies, and powerful instrumentals.

If I’m not mistaken this was the lead song for the movie Pearl Harbor, starring Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett. In my opinion, Faith’s most powerful vocal performance.

This CD wasn’t big on country radio. I love it. Whole thing. Love it. It was different, and showed her growth as artist.

Free, One, and Where are You Christmas are my top three favourite Faith songs. Each pack a power punch that you feel in your heart. Would LOVE to hear your reactions to all three of these. Happy New Year from a fellow Canuck :)

Gorgoeus song.. and video. Great choice. I Love Faith Hills voice. As a duet - I could see Sarah Mc Lachlan playing the piano and doing the bridge with her on this song. (That high pitch part especially, and both harmonising) this is a song that reminds me of Sarah. Definitely see the Kelly comparisons.

This song was written by a guy named Angie Aparo. I had his album and loved his version of this song long before Faith cut it. People, go look up Angie Aparo to hear this song done properly.

Oh yeah - Big time. Faith had Angie on stage a couple times to perform this with her. He's incredible. Unbelievable voice on that man.

The amazing Lee Sklar on bass and Vinnie Colaiuta on drums.

And your point about comparing artists is right on. I love so many female voices that are so different but equally brilliant. Ann Wilson, Annie Lennox, Chaka Khan, Celine Dion, Anita Baker, and so on and so on..... All comparisons are complementary AND complimentary... :)

It’s too bad country radio all but abandoned this album after Faith admitted it wasn’t just a country album. This song was flying up the charts then stopped immediately at #12. And no other song from the album got much play from country radio. Not even the amazing When The Lights Go Down. I’m glad Faith got recognized at the Grammys for this. Faith eventually bounced back with her next country-laden album Fireflies.
