Fairy house/casa de fada- Polymer clay (fimo) tutorial
How to make a fairy house, using polymer clay (Fimo soft) and Styrofoam balls.
I recommend that you use a good quality acetone. If necessary, try it before starting working.
The styrofoam ball, should melt quickly after get in touch with acetone. Acetone should be the least possible time in contact with the Fimo to avoid damage to the workpiece.
There are different types of styrofoam
The explanation for the heat resistance is related to molecular weight.
The styrofoam balls have a higher molecular weight and are therefore more resistant to heat.
The balls I use are very common and easy to find on crafts stores. But they must be heat resistant!
They are very used on works with E.V.A and are very compact
You can make experiences before using styrofoam with fimo clay, to verify if they melt in the oven.
Be creative and prudent at the same time!!!

I love these!! Wonderful!!
This little house is adorable!
Absolutely beautiful!
I LOVE LOVED this! I have such a large supply of polymer clay, I stocked up on supplies in hopes of creating cabochons, which I've done (I used them for centre pieces and beaded around them for earrings and they were a huge hit, but I found they would often crack that resulted in less value, but my customers still loved them) unfortunately like other crafts I lost interest and now buy my cabs, sooo....now I have every colour of clay, every tool, every form down to a pasta machine, yikes!....but after watching your video I think I found my inspiration to start using my polymer clay supplies once again...yay...lol...so thank you! I hope to see tons more of your creations! ❤️
Beijos.

Hi craftsydaddy! :D As I use to say, you must be prudent! Not every styrofoam works. The balls must be heat resistant, or they will melt in the oven. Thank you for watching!!! :D
just beautiful!

Hi Kevin Barnard! :) Thank you so much for your support! :))
Genial!!! Não sabia que acetona derrete isopor!! Genial tua ideia.

Beautiful project Sandra!!! :-) But didn't melt the styrofoam when cooked?
@sandrartes

Hi Monica!:) Once i tried this technique hoping that they melt... but they did not! The styrofoam balls are very compact and i belive that this is the reason...

sandrartes May be, the styrofoam to which i refer, is another kind of styrofoam. Because mine surely melts :-). If your styrofoam doesn't melt it must be the extruded one and not the expanded. The styrofoam expanded that i know, melts too (after a little time) if you put polymer clay on. It's white and it is made of expanded polystyrene beads. When you cut it all this little beads blow in the air. Is like that, yours?

There are different types of styrofoam The explanation for the heat resistance is related to molecular weight. The styrofoam balls have a higher molecular weight and are therefore more resistant to heat. The balls I use are very common and easy to find on crafts stores. They are very used on works with E.V.A and are very compact I know what type of styrofoam you are talking about, we can find it easly on boxes protecting products. I already tried with that type and it melted... that was the reason for me to try with the balls. And that was when i found that they don't melt!:) And that made me think about a way to remove the balls from the clay! :D And with all these experiences we learn a lot!
