That's definitely my next phone. Try to replace a screen on my iphone and it was a nightmare with all the glue and part pairing. No more. And I'll feel better about my reduced e-waste.

Hi, thanks for your comment, it is beginning to get really expensive to replace screens and other components on our devices, I really like that this device has a modular design and it is important to think about the environment.

I think it will be my next phone even if not everything is perfect. It's a step in the right direction for the planet, even if I'll feel weird leaving Apple.

Hi, it will be a difference from Apple as iPhone flagship smartphone but Fairphone make devices differently, caring about our planet and their staff.

Is there an app store? I understand they went through great lengths to 'un-google' the phone, but if it still requires the google infrastructure for apps, then its not 100% degoogled. I like the concept though and am interested in buying one

Hi, thank you for your comment, yes, this device has full access to Google Play store and its full suit of services, however they just have a very thick layer of their own software too.

Hi, thanks for your comment, yes Apple is getting more and more expensive and will only get more in the future. This device worked well for me during my review and I like to option of being eco friendly and having the option to fix your phone is helpful.

Hi Ricky thank you for fairphone review. Been using teracube2 and is rather clunky. Looking forward to fairphone. Last flagship phone with replacable was lg V20 with replaceable battery headphones jack DAC infared transmitter and upgradeable memory. Hope the fairphone will measure up which recently has been available in the states.

Hi, as you said it will receive the latest software updates and has the features you need, only one point to note being so close to Black Friday maybe wait to see if there are any extra savings.

Pre-ordered the 5 instead of an iPhone. I'm not using icloud and so on anyways (fully on proton) and actually I don't do much with the iphone than texting, surfing and calendar. so I think this will fit my purpose very well :)

I had 2 of those. Really bad phone. At the core it is a Google Pixel 1. We are talking about a Eur.700 phone with a 6yr old technology. Where it fails: Build quality: the metal used is ultra soft (edge of the phone), it scratches immediately. Plastic (back cover): if you don't use a cover, it will chip in the section where is locks the back cover with the actual phone. Softaware: if you charge it, punching in your pin code might trigger the phone to multi-type the same number. App crash constantly. Phone crashes constantly. Camera: a joke. phone that cost 100 euro take better pictures. Antenna / Reception: good luck. Microphone: when using loudspeaker, forget about it. Garantee: it is useless as you need to change the entire phone as nothing works. An advice for anyone: when watchin a review of a phone, ask yourself, how long have they used the phone. I have 2 over the course of 1yr. This phone is trash.....and I am sad about it as I live as sustainable as possible. Bought a Samsung S21 FE for less that Eur.400. Sustainable choice: Buy a phone that last is built to last, not that claims to be sustainable. 2 phones in 1yr is highly unsustainable.

Hello, thank you for your comment, first of all I used this phone daily for 2 - 3 months to try and provide a true life review, it won't compare to a full life review as that won't be possible for all the devices I try to test. I know there are a lot of points you mentioned but I felt it worked for me and agree the camera didn't always trigger the keyboard had it issues but with software update it fixed some issues. A company that is trying to think about the environment and the welfare of its staff is important but it is hard to tick all the boxes.

@@RickysTechTalk I understand that you could not test it as much as I did. I also get the eco side of it. I run a site with 300k users that come for eco news. I will soon give the 1yr article review on it. The issue here is that it is soo poorly built, assembled and run, that it just gives a bad rep to the mission and values that the company stands for. The first phone died after 4 months but showed issues within it's first month. The second is the same and I have the latest patch. I paid Eur.720 for a Google Pixel 1 in a eco suit. That is what most people might end up thinking about it if they dig into the system info. The camera is just shockingly bad. My old S6 Edge took/takes better pictures! One thing, their customer service is very good. For the rest, it is an absolute avoid. A better quality phone will last much much longer and therefore be more sustainable.

@RickysTechTalk , I seldom give any feedback on anything but, given this video hasn't yet reached much more than a dozen comments, here's my point of view, from someone who's been using cellphones since Nokia's 5110... For a start, thanks for sharing your thoughts on this device but, given the hardware issues pointed by @RockAndBox, I can't but start by asking if anybody else experienced the same problems. Those are not issues to expect from a device, new or used. They're the result of bad choices, you don't get them over usage. As for the price being asked for 2020's hardware... That must've been a joke and a very bad one at that. Word of advice to Fairphone: reach out to Framework, they nailed it on modular laptops.

@@yohaneschristianp I can see that and I am sure they will enjoy it. They have a lot to stuff to upgrade. Could be interesting to see the end results especially with weight, camera, processor speed. Not easy but maybe it will help FF to bring out a better phone.

Ha! Really a nice smartphone and slightly better then my current! But... FairPhone! Remove the slippery rounded aluminum (use it internally only for frame), add buttons at the bottom of the screen like in Samsung (remove them from screen), add the ability to change the memory SDcard without turning it off (use tray!) - and this will be my NEXT smartphone even with an overpayment. PS - forget that f... eyebrow - Remove that eyebrow!

I completely agree I hated the slippery surface that they used on their previous devices, this feels great in hand.
