Failed Spinal Fusion | Stan's Fusion Hardware Removal and Recovery Story | Spinal Fusion

Ғылым және технология

Stan had a failed spinal fusion at another facility, Bonati stopped his pain. Spinal Fusion has a 60% failure rate and that number goes up with multi-level spinal fusion.
After Spinal Fusion surgery, Stan found himself in more pain than prior to his spinal fusion. Then he found the Bonati Spine Institute and they stopped his pain.
Over half of Bonati Spine Institute guests have had a failed spinal fusion at another facility.
Failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS), also referred to by doctors as “post-laminectomy syndrome”, is a term used to describe patients who continue to experience pain after spine surgery. Traditional open back surgery by nature is unpredictable at best, and most sources claim that FBSS is seen in nearly up to 60% of individuals that have previously undergone this type of surgery. Failed back surgery happens so frequently it’s currently defined as a “syndrome.”
FBSS is a generalized term used to describe the condition of a patient whose initial spinal surgery was unsuccessful. As a result of the unsuccessful spine surgery, a patient may still be dealing with the same pain as before or the surgery has led to more significant problems and worsening pain.
Patients with an unspecific diagnosis of “back pain” who, after having had one or more operations and interventions in the spine, yet are still in pain, may be at the point where they are told that no further operation is feasible and that the surgeon has “done everything he or she can.” This is where The Bonati Spine Institute parts ways with other spine surgical facilities. Our success rate in alleviating pain from previously failed back surgery is unmatched by any other surgery center.
The Bonati Spine Institute has patented instruments and techniques for spinal hardware removal to correct problems from previous failed traditional open back surgery and spinal fusion.

We agree. We thoroughly understand the pain and symptoms patients feel after spinal fusion surgeries, and this is why we do not advocate for or perform fusions or surgeries with hardware or devices of any kind. As you can see in the video, we treat guests who have already had fusions, but are still in pain on a routine basis. We have patented procedures to treat the adjacent levels that are worsening as a result of the fusion and procedures to remove unnecessary hardware causing harm within the body, among other procedures to eliminate the pain that was never taken care of by the fusion. If there are any more questions about our process, please feel free to call us at 855-267-0482 or visit www.bonati.com.

My current Dr told me I needed a spinal fusion. His assistant told me after my MRI that it looked like they could go in and clean around it and take pressure off of my nerve and get some relief from my right leg but when I seen the actual Dr. all he wanted to talk about was a spinal fusion. I am not doing no spinal fusion. My uncle had one and it led to 2 other spinal fusions and he was in more pain after the 1st fusion. I just deal with it the best that I can right now.

I watched this video yesterday and literally broke down sobbing. I'm a 29 yo c6 quadriplegic and had a full spine fusion when I was 16. (sacrum to the C5 area) only to correct minor scoliosis. Since day one I've had constant pain 24/7 to this very day. I had no pain prior to the surgery. I remember telling the Dr it didn't feel right. And he stated that the surgery was successful. Unfortunately the outcome isn't and I honestly don't know how much pain I can take. My current pain Dr has increased my pain meds twice and it barely takes the edge off.

Yes, we thoroughly understand the pain and symptoms patients feel after spinal fusion surgeries, and this is why we do not advocate for or perform fusions or surgeries with hardware or devices of any kind.

I had a spinal fusion because my surgeon at the Florida hospital told me I was done growing and that it was too late for a back brace. I had a rare condition called scheuermann's kyphosis. After my surgery I felt like a brand new person, and all of my pain was gone. I only had pain when I would stand for too long or sit for too long, but other than that everything was fine for the first few years. Now I am having horrible pain and before I stopped seeing my surgeon they told me a screw was coming loose in my back, and now the pain is unbearable. Unfortunately I am fused all the way down my spine, and the pain radiates all throughout my back. I am really looking into having my hardware removed, but I am afraid that I may still have pain and that my back may go back to the way it was before. Both of my surgeons told me that it would and that it was best to not have the hardware removed. If I could go back I would have gotten a second opinion because I know there are other options out there to help me. I was 14 when I had the surgery done, I am now 22 years old.

I had the revision from the front, had some stomach issues or pain from cutting and moving stuff out of the way, no one mentioned that might happen which sort of sux. My back felt much better a couple of months after surgery, but now starting to feel a little worse or more like it did before surgery so wondering if I am not fusing or if the lower disc that was not addressed has been causing my issues like I thought for years. Time will tell I guess but I am going to be pissed if I end up having L5/S1 fixed or fused down the road and I feel 100% then I will know I should have just fused it when the revision was done.
