Its possible to add another substance to the solution to precipitate gold if SMBS not works fine? Like zinc powder or iron sulfate?can use multiple separater in one solution?

I know the video has an instructive character. But if you refine a piece of gold under your own conditions, the most conventional would be to use the electrometallurgical process. It is convenient to first melt with saltpeter, borax and sodium carbonate to remove base metals. The electrolysis is done in an electrolytic vat, with the gold to be refined at the anode, separated by a pure gold cathode felt. Gold chloride diluted in hydrochloric acid is used as an electrolyte. Temperature 65/80 ° C. Voltage 1.5 V and low Current, varying with cathode surface size. A battery can be used. During the process the electrolyte becomes weak in gold chloride, and this must be added. The rate at which the anode will be dissolved will be in accordance with the amount of free HCL. The associated metals deposit in the form of chloride below the anode. ..The gold obtained by this process is 99.98% pure. A hug.

Aluminium is disolving in HCL, and you remain with gold foils, or direct AR.,to disolve all material.

two main reasons pop into mind: 1) not enough or any gold in solution to produce visual precipitate - add more gold 2) active oxidiser (HNO3) - add sulphamic acid to de-nox the solution

Thinkyou for the video, why sometimes when i put the sodium metabisulfit in aquaregia it precipitate a white powder like the sugar with the Brown powder of gold

Sofiane Sofiane this is likely excess SMB that is not dissolving into the solution. This can easily be tested by trying to dissolve the white powder in hot water. If it dissolves then it’s SMB, if not then it is possible that it could be something else.

You do a great job on your videos. Very helpful. A couple questions about a palladium video you did. Did you add sodium carbonate and then formic to drop the Pd directly to Pd black? When to stop adding sodium carbonate? Would sodium bicarbonate work the same? Keep the vids coming!

Bilal ch if you have any residual chlorides by adding nitric you're making aqua regia and you are redissolving your gold

Hi, Danish here By mistake I add smb many times in aqua regia without neutralize nitric acid. I have 2 litre solution approx 70 %water. Please tell me what can I do for recovery gold. Gold only 1 gram.

Add zinc shavings, and let them react until you get colourless solution. By that time you should have precipitates at the bottom of your flask consisting of your gold and any base metals more reactive than zinc. Decant the barren solution and wash the precipitate couple of times with HCl to remove any undissolved zinc. Decant the HCl wash. Rinse couple of times with water and decant. Dissolve the residue in 50ml HCl by adding hno3 dropwise. de-NOx with sulphamic acid and dilute with 50ml of water. Filter. Precipitate with SMB. Decant, boil in HCl, boil in water, dry and melt. If you suspect PGMs present redissolve in AR, deNOx, filter and precipitate with sodium NITRITE or oxalic acid. Wash, dry and melt. Depending on your technique your gold button should be at least 9998 pure

200gms of gold dissolved in aqua regia.. how much smb we have to add to precipitate the gold.

@@nishanthviswajith1496 220-300, but if you not denox extra nitric acid with sulfamic acid or ureea, add ice to make soluțion very cold, and mix SMB with water, add to doluțion and keep it at cold place atleast 4 hours.

You have silver and tin in soluțion and gold will not drop. Add HNO4 concentrated like 10 ml, or electrolite for car bateries, and ad ice or cold water, leave it 1 hour, filter, then you can precipitate the gold if yoy had denoxed well.

So what you thought was gold being redissolved in the HydroCh acid was actually the palladium. Because gold cannot dissolve in just hydro so it must've been the contaminate. Thanks for this

how long is a piece of string? Don't know but considerably longer than if you are using sulphamic acid

A short wash of the precipitated powder (with hot conc. HNO3) would have dissolved the Pd (and also Ag, if present).

I used dimethylglyoxime to extract Pd from alloys (Pd(DMG)2, a nice yellow precipitate), then calcination (black Pd powder) and smelting (m.p. 1550 C, not easy to obtain). Result of the failed process: a sort of syntherized Pd :)))

Being the first time I've collected gold from electronics I have a question for everyone. After adding SMB I had a nice layer of gold particles at the bottom of the beaker. I then went out of town for a week. The beaker sat in my lab in my garage at temperatures above 100 degrees F for a week. When I got back I had a nice yellow liquid but no particles anymore. Adding more SMB has done nothing. The gold is in solution again. How do I retrieve it? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!

You had extra nitric in soluțion, so gold is redisolved at higher temperature. When is cold, nitric is inactive. So or denox extra nitric with sulfamic acid, urea or, make the soluțion cold enoug and add SMB mixed with water and some HCL.

Also, if there was truly that much excess nitric, the gold never would've come out of solution in the first place. Sounds like there was some fools gold at the bottom of that thare beaker, Hahahahahaha!

@@scott2296 When the soluțion is cold, gold will precipitate even if HNO3 was not neutralized or not neutralized corectly, if soluțion will be heatead the gold wil be redizolved until :1-boil out the extra nitric, 2-neutralize the nitric with sulfamic or urea or formic acid, 3-cool down the soluțion with ice or ice cold water. Drop with SMB, Iron sulfate, etc..

Hey that's what my gold is palladium gold wow I wondered it melted like palladium I got 24k palladium gold wow and when it's 18k before I refine it it's takes longer to melt but when it hits 24 k I can heat it up with the kitchen burner and and it will melt the gold is so pure at 24 k I can bend the nuggets with my fingers and shape it and Soon as it hits water when hot I can pick it up out the water that's if I use water it cools fast itself but I got pounds of it I make white gold and platinium gold too wow no wonder I can add the gold to platinium I got the alien gold wow

I dont understand why anyone uses premixed aqua regia, incremental nitric dosing is the only way to go. You almost never have excess nitric wasted.

@@OwlTech333 yes i dont see you're right , pd contamination, and in janury i melted 70 gr of pd from dmg complexe, (80% pur with nickel parasite 15%) when i burn the sponge , same thing of you , small particules in fire , for this i used borax on the sponge (2mm ) and first calcination with small burner

It is (SO2) so there must be a cover on the flask and the operations must be performed in well ventilated areas or under a fume hood. "It is a toxic gas responsible for the smell of burnt matches. It is released naturally by volcanic activity" - Wikipedia

If you're trying to refine gold, you might look into inquarting, Cody's Lab has a video on the subject (kzread.info/dash/bejne/k4xoq9NqYc2YlKw.html), granted he uses Minecraft to explain the process, but his point comes across well enough, and if you're interested in conserving nitric acid, don't pre-mix the aqua regia, Add HCL, apply a little heat, and in small doses add nitric. Still good video, thanks for posting.

Wash and wash again. Multiple small washes. Crystal clear (white) boil. Incremental nitric, not the "magic ratio"... And ditch the sulfamic. Use sulfuric to snatch the lead, and if you don't add more nitric than it needs to get the gold into solution, you won't have to deal with it after. SMB from there, wash, rinse, dry, melt. Be much better looking ;)
