Hello, I just did the same thing, just a bit different. I did some chemistry math and for 100 g of pins (calculated as Cu) I need 400 ml of 30% HCl and 150 ml of 35% peroxide (is cheap 5 liters costs 200 CZK). I use 4 liter glass jar (for pickled cucumber), I made bubler through the lid and outlet hose goes into water with Na2CO3 so the acidic gases are neutralised. My batch is cca 200 g, half liter of water, 1 liter of HCl (some more) and 300-400 ml of 35% peroxide incrementaly. I start with just a bit of peroxide (not to produce chlorine gas) and solution turns yellow. Every morning I add a bit of peroxide like 50 ml. Solution turns green from Cu 2+, later turns yellow/brown from Cu1+, as Cu + Cu2+ goes into 2 Cu1+. When I add peroxide, it turns green and warm as Cu1+ turns again to Cu2+ and disolves more Cu. After about 5-7 days of bubling solution stays green and foils float. I shake the jar and see if there are some not solved pins. I add small amount of peroxide to disolve the rest and not disolve the gold (I check with SnCl2). Then filtration is easy, I use Tchibo coffe filter and Tchibo ceramic coffe funel. Then I cupel the gold with bismuth in furnace at 1000 °C. XRF says above 99% purity. I had more cca 3,5 g from about 230 g batch.

@@knowldedge5012 It is easier and faster for me, as I have furnace. Turn on, put material in, wait, done. Also, I do not work with nitric yet and no space for such chemistry. May be later, for final refining I will use HCl and peroxide for disolving gold, that takes time and heat, but is safer procedure...

why does it turn blue? i soaked cpu mobile phone and other scrap gold plated pieces. Been in a gallon jug for months after it was in a hard clump of clay like mixture. i originally broke the glass beaker that the solution dried up in so i swept everything together put itall in a tin coffee can. solution was 15% vinegar and 3% hydrogen peroxide salt and rehydrated the Mass with hydrogen peroxide 3% and 6% vinegar and strained it through a kitchen strainer separating all the chunkier pieces out washing and rinsing the scrap several times and ending up with a 1 gallon water jug full of blue liquid with sediment at the bottom. The sediment appears to be three different colors beige color , a yellow color, and a tan color. The yellow layer is on top and in the middle of the beige colored layer. tan color layer is the bottom layer. so to be clear from the bottom up. Tan color, beige color thin layer Yellow color beige color thin layer yellow in total the sediment is less then a half inch tall from the bottom of a 1 gallon water jug. what could the colored sand like sediment be? ps if i even slightly touch the jug, puff cloudy blue liquid. super fine powder states to fog the water from the bottom sediment takes a long time to settle again.
