FACE to FACE Hope in Gravesend With Pastor Stephen Lloyd

In this episode of Face to Face Stephen Lloyd talks to Tim Vince about his early Christian life where he was quite shy and yet had opportunities to speak in front of the school after which his music teacher said, "You should be a pastor!”. Around 12 years old Stephen had a sense that God wanted him to serve in ministry and when he reached 6th Form his interest in science (especially physics and chemistry) came alive. At Cambridge University he found an active Christian Union with Christians from all different church backgrounds and encountered the ‘inevitable’ question among students when you talk about science and Christianity, “What about Creation?” He remembers going to a talk by the Christian astrophysicicist John Polkinghorne and expected a critique of conventional astronomy and realised that most people took a different view and he felt a duty to look into the subject more. Tim asks Stephen why is it important to the gospel to have a clear understanding of Genesis. Stephen answers that it is not just Gensis but the theme throughout the scriptures is of God’s intervention. The resurrection is not just a 'theological construct’ but based on historical reality and Stephen makes the point from a gospel perspective that if evolution is correct then Jesus the Creator made death in the beginning only to later say that he would have victory over it. The creationist worldview brings more coherence to Christianity and meaning and logic to our lives.
