Face to face conversations

Reading books, watching videos, chatting online is fine up to a point, but there is something missing. To get the full story, the full picture, there is another ingredient which will fill in all the gaps. Facial expressions and body language. I chat to complete strangers and get more out of a face to face 30 minute conversation than I would if I spent hours online. The man I spoke to was Polish by the way.

Hi Illona from Rainy Cincinnati, Ohio. On Independence Day! It's so true what you're saying. We need to make the effort. I so enjoy hearing from you and seeing the cats and all your adventures. Take care!

Agree. I prefer face to face conversation. I find a lot is lost in communication when you can't see them. They edit themselves. Thanks for the video.

It’s true Ilona many a pleasant conversation ensues from a nod, and a friendly smile and the ability to not only talk but also to listen . I think possibly many people shy away from interaction because they worry what others may think of them , it’s a skill most of learn as we age , mind you it’s useful to be able to close the conversation down without offence when one or other of you feel your eyes glazing over 🤣🤣

Good morning from The Netherlands. Ive been retired now for 3 years and when i was working i hated lunchbreaks sat amongst colleagues. The reason being that most would be zapping away on their mobile phones. There would be the odd conversation but there would be no eye contact as they were more concentrated on their phones. The odd few of us that didnt care for these behaviours would go out for a walk and chat amongst ourselves. Its hard working with people like that when your a sociable person and your working in the public sector.

I’m from Newcastle but I’ve lived in France for the last 20 years. I still have a huge accent, sometimes I’ll be having a conversation with a child (in French) and then they will suddenly ask me what language l’m speaking 😂. Love languages, and accents.

Face to face conversation are definitely needed more I remember about a year and a half ago I met someone whilst walking the dog up a footpath I stopped to ask him where it lead and we literally had a conversation for about 2 hours, just like you said sometimes you just tune in with someone you feel comfortable talking to .

When I'm on my bike I ring my bell and shout coming through from a way back, it is hard on head windy days 😂. I went to the booth, wrote in capitals, all liars, didn't have a choice so went with my feelings and kept it clean😂 as recommended by Brian ukc👍

If your walking along the canal in Leeds they nearly knock pedestrians over, but what’s worse still is the deliverroo bikes riding at full speed in the city centre pedestrian zones.

I thought you had joined the city of new york police department Ilona! the sweatshirt suits you really well!..good advice there about face to face communication, thats our trouble I think, not enough talking first can lead to negative action half the time. Maisy is so beautiful. 😻👮‍♀👍🏻

Good afternoon, Ilona ! Always a ‘comfort ‘ to see you . Truly. I do hope the voting in your country goes your way . I agree. I am NOT a fan of the written word in any form for the very reason that the person reading you CANNOT see your facial expression ( you took the words out of my mouth)or hear the tone of you voice and therefore the danger exists that the writer may be interpreted ( or mis interpreted) depending upon what the mood is of the ‘listener’ . I have fallen victim to this several times. You always make great points , Ilona. …I have told several people this reasoning whenever they ‘accuse ‘ me of something other than what I meant to say !! I have threatened to not text or write another thing to these people . Let’s meet in person I tell them . Lol -❤xxMarilyn

Am watching your country’s new PM speak from here in USA. What do u think of him? Of course, here in the USA our presidential election has left us with two sad choices. Been alive a long time and I have never seen this kind of choice in our country.

Hello. What do I think of him? He is not going to be able to sort the mess out, because he is a puppet of the richest people on earth. He said he prefers Davos to Westminster. That says it all. He will do what he is instructed to do. Rishi threw the towel in and prepared to hand over the batten to the other side. Labour didn't win, the Cons gave up. It is said that they are two cheeks of the same arse.
